Looking for a way to send a little comfort. Everything I wrote coming out more than a little angry, bitter. Found this, quite by accident. A different subject, but maybe. . . .

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Reading a favorite blog of mine got me to thinking about bodies. What they do, how, and how we use them. And what we forget they can do, and fail to use them for.
I'm long past the point where I don't think about walking. My knees always inform me that I am. Catch is, walking then becomes only knees. How to avoid pain. Nothing more. And it should be more. You ARE somewhere, and things are happening in that somewhere. Things that are NOT your knees.
Perhaps if one could stay more in that somewhere, the knees would matter less?
Air, light, bread baking, silly squirrels, the gorgeous wave of swallows circling in the courtyard, the grass greening just a little. All the things our body is always bringing to our brain. . .
Thanks Wooby and Autumn......I'm hoping after tomorrow I won't be so haunted by this......though I stopped and visited my daughter today and it was also on her mind. Wooby, I'm glad you put that mad guy in there.......that's how I feel. I feel so angry......
tonight I miss you
I bet you never knew
how beautiful
and treasured
you made me feel
tonight I miss you
I bet you never knew
that I was never so raw
until your magic hands
made me dance
tonight I miss you
I bet you never knew
that you could make me melt
astonished at the passion
that I felt
tonight I miss you
I bet you never knew
that every time I walk the path
or use the steps
I think of you
tonight I miss you
I bet you never knew
I thank you every winter
and send blessings to you
for my pets protection
tonight I miss you
I bet you never knew
I loved you for the labor
the homely way your actions
spoke louder than words
and you may think I walked away
and never gave a second thought
if only it were so
it hurt to let you go
and tonight I miss you
How do we teach
Respect
How do we teach the knowledge
That we are all one,
With all life
And that children are
Sacred.
- EIGHTY-SEVEN LITTLE TOMATOS -
Eighty-seven little tomatos
Sprouting in my garden today
Eighty-seven little tomatos
Popping up perhaps to stay
All the little tiny tomatos
Got started from a little seed
All the little tiny tomatos
Planted more from whim than need
Now I water and watch the tomatos
Each day just a bit bigger
Now I water and watch the tomatos
Water and sun the growing trigger
Waiting still on onions and mellons
But I see sprouts there as well
Waiting still on onions and mellons
They've started as I can tell
Funny I seem to feel so excited
Just from seeing the little grown plants
Funny I seem to feel so excited
Knowing this life I gave an advance
Something so simple and tiny as these
Puts a big smile on my face
Something as simple and tiny as these
Brings the boy in me to my place
Eighty-seven little tomatos
Sprouting and growing each day
Eighty-seven little tomatos
Plus onions and mellons hooray!
- Erik - Apparently my brown thumb is turning green as my garden continues to survive and improve. Anyway, I thought with all the melancholy a happy poem would be good.
Thanks for stopping by Ravin, Summer/Autumn and Erik.........it's raining today - good! It seems like the sky is crying, burying a child in glorious weather would seem a mock.........
Thanks for being there when I'm not so happy......they say cyber folks can't be friends, but they're full of manure........
Erik, I will be starting mine soon....usually I do plants, but this year I'm trying from seed, wish me luck.....
sea of love
We can dive so deeply in the passion of now
the current is strong in the sea of love
look in my eyes to see how I feel
hold onto my hands and remember to breathe
before we go under the waves of desire
my heart is a raft of shelter
as we ride the crest of pleasure
to the stable shore
mermaid 2/27/07
and ride the seahorse free
with my trailing seaweed hair
I twirl beneath the sea
and play with starfish there
beware the lobsters bite
and scuttles of the crab
the shells will hide from sight
and predatory jab
wait for the clams to open
and pick yourself a pearl
just touch it with your triton
and make the water swirl
I lose myself in motion
upheld in currents drift
I love my home the ocean
Poseidon's lovely gift
- SAILBOAT RITUALS FOR THE WIND - ( Which sounds WAYYY better than "MOLESTED UNDER FALSE PRETENSE" < Titles are impotant folks! )
Jump in the vessel and come sail the seas
Freedom to move and feel the light breeze
And if the wind dies you say "Well what now?"
I'll smile as I tell you so "Don't have a cow."
There's something I know you'll think superstition
A ritual for wind just get in this position
This always brings back the wind if done well
Do I have an engine? Well I'll never tell!
Now just close your eyes and relax for the task
Whats up with the skirt raised?, as if you need ask
This ritual works well even if it takes time
It brings back the wind, Now, "More moans and less whine!"
To the Diver from the Beloved
Come to me now,
Because I know you are weary of the surface
Worlds of men-at-war and iron-clad vessels.
Secure your latches and prepare for the submergence
Into a gentle force beyond your control.
When you have gorged yourself
With enough oxygen to sustain you,
Let your heaviness fall upon me and I will yield.
Far removed is the solid land
Where the earth can be held securely underfoot.
You have even left the surface waters
Where ships bearing women’s names are driven
By foul-mouthed men to reach the land again.
I know what you have risked to come here -
To the woman Sea and the goddess Moon.
Yet, you are still a child of man,
Afraid to approach me without steel and rubber
And signal devices to warn you
That you are in danger of losing consciousness
In my depths.
Far removed is your fire-god Sun.
His furious glare has never impressed the Moon;
Notice how she always holds him half a world away.
Earth-men who have known her have called her barren.
But after they have stomped upon her skin in their sterile boots
Is it any wonder that she appeared to them pale and cold?
Fall into the world of women’s time,
Dictated by Luna, where life is counted
By currents of touch in the dimness.
By the force of gentleness
The thrust of Poisinden’s trident is slowed.
Come deeper, you can take the dive.
Though you fear my silence and darkness,
I will not be grim or distant with you.
However you turn, I fill the gap between us.
I enclose you in my slow tranquility and move you
By the waves that break and those that roll quietly past.
I invite you to come deeper
Than you have ever dared to venture before.
Your breath is labored and your head grows dizzy.
There is no shame in being too weak
For my full embrace. Pull away,
Lest I smother you in our closeness.
Go back now and I will wait
For I know you will soon again grow weary
Of the surface, of men-at-war and iron-clad vessels.
Later, in port, some proud captain will relate
How fiercely he fought to protect his lady, his ship
From the ravishing fury of Neptune.
Some fisherman, every muscle on fire
Will opine that the ocean is no place for a woman.
They love the sea like many a man loves a woman -
Riding the surface the of her skin
They think they have seen her moods, tasted a bit of her wetness
Felt her motion and known her completely.
They think all divers are mad, you know.
Smile your sympathy but hold your peace.
Save your stories for the children
Set them to dreaming of chariots drawn by sea-horses.
Sing them the lyrics of the whale’s song.
And tell them you have seen mermaids in these waters.
So that one day they will come to me too.
Erik, I liked the squirrel poem in your thread....someone hit my favorite squirrel........
Red, glad to see you! I have to catch up on your poems.....just keep writing them, I really love your stuff.......
wish fulfillment
Now close your eyes and make a wish
the universe at your command
bestowing dreams we cherish
across the starry strand
you only need to seek
and consciousness fulfills
for though we are unique
intent coheres our wills
Old money
using other people's money
other bees will make your honey
let the other squirrels gather
nuts, while doing what you'd rather
yes, working's for the sheeple
those mindless sniveling people
you live off your investments
and legislated easements
Intrigued
slowly
your essence
reveals itself
waiting
for consent
inner and other
time
is your
asset
you beguile
with nature
insects
and birds
how
did you know
the girl
I left behind?
stillness
draws me
now
I pause
curious
considering
your light
Shorty 2/03/07
we found you in a thunderstorm
cowering in a ditch
you were always afraid of thunder
can we keep it?
He asked,
two boyfriends ago
he left, but you stayed
you seemed old
when we took you in
you had the look
and bark
of a bloodhound
two inch legs
we called you Shorty
the kids loved you
the favorite
today I found your body
feeding the pets
a house full of grandkids
is crying for you
me too
Goodnight
Shorty
- FOR SHORTY -
Here is to Shorty though I knew him not
But loosing a pet just brings tears on the spot
A shame when they go for I'm sure you'll agree
That they are a part of our close family
But we can all smile as you came from the rain
To live there well loved though thunder you disdained
I always remember my pets with great love
And wish them the best in my heart and above
Om and Erik, thanks very much for the sympathy, but Shorty died in February, before I had this thread. I had to keep her body in the shed since the ground was frozen, and bury her when it had thawed enough. The poem about animals who live without self pity was about that. She had a huge hernia that I had had operated on twice, but it kept coming back. But she kept on going on, without complaint. Animals can teach us a lot about how to live.....
The story of man - A singular observation
But lift up your heart,
see the light that's in all
we are from the same source
the good that is god
is all souls together
a huge force
of creation
healing
change
we can rise above
d'evil
that flung us, scattered
reunite
and drown the darkness
with our light...
Mr. Mary, It's an honor to have you visit me....I read your latest short story installment yesterday....you keep me in good fiction! There is so much talent in these forums I'm in awe sometimes....
I was up late last night hostessing then carding and collecting donations at my sister's restaurant. (for a family whose house burned down) It's really taking off beyond our wildest expectations. The gas station got robbed while I was on my way to Kroger's, I wondered about the police cars whizzing by as I pulled to the curb....can't even escape the insanity in a small town .....
****************************************************************************
I never posted this, someone came on first, last back in February being an ass, but he got hung , drawn and quartered before I could post ..... It seemed unethical to kick him while he lay bleeding by the curb....
Really Bad Rap
I'd just as soon f*ck a dead trout!
let me tell you little man what it's all about
you think you're rhymin simon
cuz you just lost your hymen
better stop your bragging
and calling folks fagging
show some manners and class
or we'll bust your ass
and give us our props
'cause we've got writing chops
"he" is kind of an abstract right now Om.... I'm working over 50 hours a week right now, not much time for anyone....though I did get to see my daughter tonight, and that was nice, and pick up Gage from preschool. He made a car out of a shoebox, and he drew himself driving, the driver had a mohawk, it was really cute....right now it's just me and my hairy cat...
