| Baldness - Fix it or leave it? Posted: 5/24/2007 2:19:41 PM | Bald is fine...as long as you don't have a skullette...then I would suggest shave it all off...it just looks dumb having hair half way around your head if you ask me. | |

I use to have long blonde hair, but guys, accept your fate, be happy with your self and all will be right as rain. the only time i have long hair now is when i wear a wig to play in our kiss cover band.lol

| Baldness - Fix it or leave it? Posted: 5/24/2007 4:05:44 PM | | I may be rather biased in this since all the men on both sides of my family are bald or balding at a young age. None of them cared and I can tell you for sure none of them ever had trouble dating because of it. Be who you are, if they don't like it don't let the door hit their butt on the way out! | |

| Baldness - Fix it or leave it? Posted: 5/24/2007 6:25:28 PM | Bald is the new blonde for guys.
I would rather see a guy shaven instead of half of a head of hair overgrown to ty to cover up something.
Or cut your hair very short and even if you dont want to shave it all off. Like a number 3.
I tell a man's attractiveness by his face first. Does he take care of his skin? Is his face full of lines and sun spots from not looking after himself?

| Baldness - Fix it or leave it? Posted: 7/2/2007 12:49:35 PM | WAAAAGGHHH!!! I had a beautiful(hold off ladies!)smooth shaven scalp(ok let the attacks commence) and now its ruined by what can only be described as a cranial C section. To all of you women out there who endured child birth by C section, I feel your pain. mine runs from top left forehead to behind my right ear.
Should I stop shaving and now try and hide it?
Or would it be silly and offputting to women to see a bald guy with such a big deep long scar?
Any and all opinions welcomed.

the only problem I could see is knowing which end is up?
Can't say I've ever had the problem. Even without hair my head is very easy to differentiate from my feet. (Good thing too. Walking would be a challenge otherwise!)
It never stopped Patrick Stewart from being a sex symbol.
Make it so!

| Baldness - Fix it or leave it? Posted: 7/2/2007 8:53:29 PM | Mick,
If your scar is quite visible (which it may well be, since it's located right there on your bare scalp), then it's going to be something that people will probably ask you about. I think that's the only thing you have to consider here. I don't find scars ugly, and they're not something that I would think of hiding for aesthetic reasons. If a person comes through something serious enough to earn them a visible scar, it's a badge of endurance/survival/getting beaten up really badly in a bar fight...maybe the last of those options is a bit less noble than the other two.
Anyway, if you're comfortable with being asked about your scar, and why you got it, and ohmygodyouwerereallysickweren'tyou?, and all the rest of that stuff, then great -- stay bald. You had *brain surgery* and you're maintaining a formidably positive attitude about it! You have absolutely nothing to hide for reasons of unsightliness. However, if you don't want to have to explain your medical history to everyone who asks, then that's the only reason I would ever suggest that you grow your hair back as a reaction to the scarring...and even then, sometimes telling curious strangers to "f*ck off" is a perfectly good reaction.

Definitely, leave it! Nothing worse than a combover!!!
Did you see the guy with the combover on Ally McBeal? When they started unwinding it I almost died from laughing.
Bald men can be very attractive. It means they have lots of testosterone, you know!
Actually it doesn't me lots of testosterone. But don't let that stop you.

| Baldness - Fix it or leave it? Posted: 7/2/2007 10:01:10 PM | Did some one say bald?
I don't consider myself folicaly challanged. All men were born with the same amount of hormones, some of us didn't waste them on hair.
|
| Baldness - Fix it or leave it? Posted: 7/2/2007 11:08:18 PM | All you have to do is keep the hair you have left really short, do not bic razor it because it goes all shiny.
I would say about 1cm is a good length for the leftover hair if you are balding. Pick up a set of adjustable clippers and use number 2 each time you need to trim it back down.
This will give you a distinguished look, the kind I like seeing on male doctors etc. 'eeek' has the proper distinguished look that I am talking about in regard to balding men.
Don't go with the combover as it looks strange.
Then there are some guys that really don't suit their hair and should cut it shorter like one of the fellows that is in this thread. Really, it doesn't look good.
I love long hair on a guy, but not if he doesn't suit it.

| Baldness - Fix it or leave it? Posted: 7/3/2007 11:15:44 AM | Compound Fracture, you hit the proverbial nail on the head my dear woman!! Realistically for me the sooner the scar and what it represents is ancient history the better! whats this thing people have of wanting to have their mask from radiotherapy at home so they can remember it? you mean the 6 weeks of sickness and low energy arent enough to stir your brain as to what it was like?!
and yeah ...because i am now...hush please....self guilt moment here...yes i do have an expanding forehead....so the scar is visible no matter how much of the follicles i try to grow
Also its odd your last sentence, you have no idea just how many times its cropped up and thats what i have been wanting to do.. instead..and much more polite..or cowardly depending on your point of view... is to point out that i had a brain tumour op..but its ok, theres no chance you will ever suffer from it! and then run/walk away! leave them figure the rest out lol

| Baldness - Fix it or leave it? Posted: 7/3/2007 11:39:58 AM | This thread has given me laugh after laugh.
Most of the men in my family are naturally bald. My brother started losing his hair in 10th grade. To this day I can still grow a full head of hair. Which most of my male family members are jealous of. To make it even funier it ticks some of them off that I can have hair and shave it off.
I can't go home without hearing several times "Why on earth would you shave your head when you can have all the hair you want?" Because I can and I like how it feels.
Why would I want to have long locks of hair braided down my back. I dont want the women I date to be jealous of it and hate me for it. For you guys that put so much stock in your hair...Enjoy it all you want. Until the day you lose it you will never understand how good it feels or what you are missing out on.

| Baldness - Fix it or leave it? Posted: 7/29/2007 11:02:20 AM | I've read most of this thread and find it quite funny. Here's an idea, TO EACH THEIR OWN. Grow it long, buzz it, shave it off, comb it over, IT'S YOUR HEAD. There are certain hair styles that women will find attractive or repulsive and vice versa. So beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
I've been SHAVING my head for 10+ years. NOBODY was really shaving their heads back then. It SHOCKED a lot of people but screw them, you had to have some balls to shave your head bald if you weren't already losing your hair. Now EVERYONE is shaving their head. I could grow it back and have a full head of hair if I wish (with the exception of slight widows peaks that run in the family) but I like having the bald look or the very very short 2 to 5 day growth that follows that would be considered the shortest blade on the trimmers. I have always had very short hair, a buzz, or the high and tight (marine basic cut) because of sports (Rugby, Jeet Kun Do, etc.) and don't need the extra hair in the way or something for someone to grab onto during a rugby match or while sparring.
The only problem guys have when they shave their head is nicking the hell out of it cause they don't know what they're doing and having a really testicle shaped head that looks UGLY when bald. Bald or Shaved is a GREAT look but only on certain people. Just like long hair works for some guys and not all. And don't shave for the first time in the middle of the Summer, you'll have pale cue-ball Uncle Fester thing going and be very very prone to severe sunburn which is easy to get if you're not careful in the sun.
Bald is beautiful baby!
ps, nothing like having a woman rub lotion on your freshly shaved head, that is sexy!

| Baldness - Fix it or leave it? Posted: 7/29/2007 12:45:39 PM | | I've been shaving my head for about a year now. At first I was not ok with it but it was better than not shaving it. I would always be grabbing for a ball cap when I was going out cause I always felt like people were looking at me. Now I'm at the point, if I wear a hat its just beacuse I like wearing a hat and if I don't and people are looking at me..... its because I'm sexy. | |

| Baldness - Fix it or leave it? Posted: 7/29/2007 4:13:03 PM | I think bald and short hair is so freaking sexy. Short hair is great, bald is even better. It is such a turn on. Okay I think I'm all better now.
My answer is leave it. Please.
