| Baldness - Fix it or leave it? Posted: 6/9/2008 2:59:04 PM | My father has had what he likes to call a "tasteful comb-over" for decades. I'm so used to it that I can't imagine him any other way. My brother, who is 15 months younger than I, still has almost every hair on his head that he's ever had. My hair started thinning on the crown some years ago. I had the kind of thinning where it was hard to figure out what to do. I have my full hairline, but the top/crown has been thinning a lot in the past few years. I was using some products to give the effect of fullness. When I had shoulder surgery last year, and couldn't comb my hair very well, I saw that as an opportunity to just go for it and shave it off. It took me a day or so to get up the nerve. I had a barber shave my head and shape my (post-surgical) beard. It took weeks until I stopped jumping when I passed a mirror (who the heck is THAT looking back at me?).
Ultimately, I have found shaving my head to be one of the most freeing things I've ever done. So far, 99% of the feedback I've gotten has been great. Now, I shave it a few times a week, and occasionally treat myself to the professional shave. Other than having to take more precautions in the sun, it's so much easier this way. Thankfully, I have a good head shape, although I had no idea if this look would work for me until I tried it.

The sexiest man I've seen (still embedded in my brain years later!) had his head clippered short with a full beard

Ok, but have you seen the price of corn these days? (Maybe they could make ethanol from the hairplugs?)
besides, lots of women really like bald guys
That is a very good thing.

coach andrew, you look better now than with hair! you and sean connory did it :)
if one is bald, it does not matter, unless they have very very poor style. if you are losing it, shave it off. leaving half on half off, w any hair do you are trying too hard to hold on to something that should not be a problem, and that screams low self esteem. and thats a turn off. when i see toupees or wigs, i feel embarrassed for them.. it's JUST hair, seriously?
it starts thinning? get rid of it, BALD HEADS ARE SEXXXYYY.

| Baldness - Fix it or leave it? Posted: 6/12/2008 8:20:18 AM | | I first learned that male pattern baldness is somewhat inherited from the maternal grandfather when I was in high school. I knew then I was screwed. My grandfather was bald as a cueball. All my mothers brothers, about 12 of them, were bald by their early 20's. So I figured I'd be bald one day, but other than a little hairline receding most of mine has been thinning in the back and I have more than I thought I would at this age. I always kept it pretty short, never wanted anyone to think I was trying to hide it. One of my sisters started going through chemo last fall and had to shave her head so I did mine as well. I kind of like it. very low maintenence. | |

Posted: 6/12/2008 11:07:52 AM | well..it's the way u were born, i always think, well..../ go with it!! alot of times men "shave their heads" for cancer.....which in my view is very "thoughtful".....caring natured, it does seem to be .."still-on-your-mind"!!!! and it does sound like you r sincere, regarding,......you're not looking to get-laid./ so, it's for you!!! and who u "R" or think u should or could be, and you likely question,.....how will "others" perceive me with hair.
i don't think u should fret over it, / post your pic!!!/ ?? and don't forget...it's what's on the ...inside that " really " counts!!!/

| Baldness - Fix it or leave it? Posted: 6/12/2008 11:26:14 AM | I never did worry when I lost my hair..it was like a ...so what ?...seen guys do the combovers , transplants , goop they put in thier hair ,baseball hat syndrome etc . One guy showed up at work with rows of transplants that looked like a corn field...sad...must be a inner torture for those souls tho. I think my generation is a lucky one, being bald..has even been thought of as sexy to many women...not like back in the 70,s and 80,s when big hair was "in". Those days must of been hard for a young man going bald....today ?...pffft..who cares...enjoy the freedom of baldness before the big hair days come back... | |

| Baldness - Fix it or leave it? Posted: 6/12/2008 11:29:20 AM | | I think one should do what makes THEMSELVES feel better about who they are, & not do it for anyone else. Some women prefer bald while others prefer a head of hair. Some prefer brunettes, redheads, blondes, or even salt & pepper. People will be attracted to someone regardless of physical features as long as the person they are attracted TO is comfortable in THEIR own skin! | |

| Baldness - Fix it or leave it? Posted: 6/12/2008 12:01:57 PM | Do what makes you feel best!
Now, having said that, before you devote yourself to one look for the NEXT 10 to 20 years (most of you guys ARE pretty loyal to one haircut!), please consider some options to your present do.
You can ask your trusted barber/hairstylist for a little updating to your current coif.
You can easily neaten it up (a lot of hair-loss is patchy) in so many ways from a closer trim on the sides to shaving the whole thing.
If he/she does suggest the much talked about comb-over, please CONSIDER taking on a new stylist! --It is one thing to make one hair look like two (or even, three!) hairs, but when you are going for the whole hairy enchilada, please reconsider.
But, in the end, you MUST please yourself. --Do what ya dig!

| Baldness - Fix it or leave it? Posted: 6/12/2008 6:17:49 PM | | As for me, I think bald is very sexy. Granted, some men look better than others with the bald look, but those who look good with it, look Great!!! And even those who don't look quite as good with bald, still seem to have a certain sex appeal about them that some men don't have, even with a head full of hair. Most importantly, its what's inside that counts and that will always come through in your personality and confidence, etc. | |

| Baldness - Fix it or leave it? Posted: 6/12/2008 7:12:55 PM | once ur bald the lady will find out bout it eventually so leave it...my bf shaves his head cause rite after high school he started losing his hair...n he doesn't need hair he looks sexy without it | |

| Baldness - Fix it or leave it? Posted: 6/12/2008 10:37:19 PM | Leave it.. I saw a man once doing the front crawl at the pool..there was something flying through the air attached to his head everytime his head came up and he twisted it to the side to breathe..strangest thing. When he was done his laps, there was this long strand of hair hanging down..HIS COMBOVER!! Looked so funny...men, PLEASE don't do the combover..shave it. I had clients( I do massage) that had comb overs, toupees, and bald..let me tell you, I prefer massaging bald heads..less hairs to get in the way. If it came to a date, I would prefer a man shave his head then have a combover, or a cul-de-sac..( bald in the middle and fringe around the outside). Cul-de-sacs and comb-overs are aging... | Baldness - Fix it or leave it? Posted: 6/12/2008 11:27:07 PM | | Another vote for leaving it. If you're balding, just accept it! Either go really short or shave it off. Comb-overs are attractive on NO ONE. Ever. | |
