| do men actually like curvy women vs the skinny pencil one? Posted: 4/23/2008 5:21:21 PM | | Well your choice of wording isn't great either the Fat word in our family is just as bad as the "F" word. So you look for the positives. Curvy women Marylin Munroe was Curvey she would be considered Fat by todays standards but she had it all she just knew how to flaunt her assets best. Venus williams is a size 12 fat by some standars but i gotta say she is fit. Skinny isn't always fit and Fat isn't always unfit. The wrapping paper is never as good as the prize inside by the way im unfit and skinny!!! | |

| do men actually like curvy women vs the skinny pencil one? Posted: 4/25/2008 2:45:20 PM | So, not only do fat women (excuse me, "curvy") have reason to feel like shit about themselves, but slender (excuse me "pencil thin") women do, as well. It must be hard for some people to be so perfect. You're too fat, you're too skinny...God. I saw a picture of Kate Moss in a magazine recently and they actually were picking her apart for being "soft". They were commenting on her "stomach"...KATE MOSS...yes, the woman who was mocked quite a bit years ago for being TOO thin. She looked really good, she looked healthy and there wasn't a thing wrong with how she looked. When will society/the media get a frickin' grip?
You don't see old 'curvy' women....or old 'curvy' men for a good reason... Since when? Do you not leave your house much? I've seen plenty of overweight elderly people. I've known plenty of people who, in their younger years, were overweight and in their senior years are thinner. Whether that be through watching their weight, having health problems or just living different as they've aged...who knows.

Its my job to foster an environment where she feels secure enough to thrive and to grow.

I am curvy and I do not consider myself fat and I do not feel like shit about myself. Some woman (like myself) are fortunate enough to have an hourglass figure and not have the body of a 12 year old boy.

| do men actually like curvy women vs the skinny pencil one? Posted: 5/29/2008 7:36:28 PM | | I am poster 362. This thread has over 22ooo hits and appears to be the most popular in the BC forums. Is this what matters most to POFers? I can barely comment on this question, because I doubt there is a definitive answer. I think beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The interest in this thread makes me wonder if it saying that POFers are superficial. Although, most would never admit it. | |

| do men actually like curvy women vs the skinny pencil one? Posted: 5/30/2008 3:49:23 AM | Everyone wants to hear "no you don't have to hit the gym or diet anymore". Well, ok maybe some people wanna hear that. I think it only matters so far as to say that you'll accept the same flaws your looking for someone to accept in you.
If you're pushing 250 pounds as a woman and want a man in top physical condition, good luck to you, I mean I'd count myself extremely lucky if an athletic girl took me as I am now, I mean I am keeping fit, just still throwing down with extra unattractive weight. She'd be a lot less dissapointed with me than half of the guys with 6 packs but you know what? It's not fair to say she should date me over them.
If she's at the gym 4 days a week to keep healthy, she deserves the same in return.

| do men actually like curvy women vs the skinny pencil one? Posted: 6/3/2008 10:31:48 PM | | I think alot 0f men like curvy women but won't admit it to friends. I think that they don't want to be seen with curvy women because they think their friends may laugh or make fun, so I think they want a pencil thin/perfect woman to take out and show off and not be ridiculed. That's just the sense I get from experiences. | |

| do men actually like curvy women vs the skinny pencil one? Posted: 6/3/2008 10:41:36 PM | POF is superficiality at it's finest. My experience has been this : Curvy women have attitude, and base looks more so than the pencil chicks. Then again, pencil chicks usually have the least personality. Heck I've eaten animal crackers with more personality than some of the women on here !
And what's up with people not knowing when to properly use 'than & then' in a sentence?

| do men actually like curvy women vs the skinny pencil one? Posted: 6/4/2008 10:31:19 PM | MSG 365...I believe what you say is true in respect to "POF is superficiality at it's finest" but so are all the other dating sites, if not worse. From my experience, I think curvy women have attitude because they know that men would rather have a thin person than someone with curves, so it just plays on a woman's psyche and they have to put this facade up. I do have a good personality, I know that for sure, and I am very curvy and agree that lots of thin, good looking women have no personality just like a lot of good looking men that are in good shape have no personality either.
What's up with the proper use of "then and than" in sentences....there are a lot of spelling and grammar errors on here as is other sites....it drives me bonky and bonkier if I type something that is incorrect and don't catch before I post but I just try and let it go now, it is really not a big deal in the whole scheme of things.

| do men actually like curvy women vs the skinny pencil one? Posted: 6/4/2008 11:30:12 PM | | Nope I'm not pencil thin, just don't have the type of body for thing but it's nice to hear you like curvy women, and that I am, but would you be willing to take them out in public? That's where I think there is fault....men may love curvy women but, only in private not in public. Just my experience...too many times actually. | |

| do men actually like curvy women vs the skinny pencil one? Posted: 6/5/2008 12:55:58 AM | Curvey, 'pencil' thin, a few extra pounds, tall, short, big breasts, small ones, pretty face (this part more important to me though) Whats the difference? To me it is what is inside that counts. Is she compassionate? Is she affectionate? Is she sincere, honest and genuine? It's about how she presents herself. The shape isn't really important if you can develop the emotional intimacy and develop trust. Really. Whatever the shape it is still warm next to you in bed, right. Once again, my opinion. I do not get involved with a woman to 'parade' her and do not appreciate being paraded. I think that is a bit shallow and I do understand why it happens. I am not an object. I am a human being. Besides, I believe that if you like the person enough you would probably overlook their imperfections and shortfalls. Funny thing is that I don't see too many other 50 year olds with the body of a 30 year old at POF and I do notice that few keep their pic up to date either. Yes mine is. | |

| do men actually like curvy women vs the skinny pencil one? Posted: 6/5/2008 5:04:14 PM | Personally, being a curvy girl, I love curvy women too. Not that I'm going to switch to being a lesbian any time soon, there is just something totally sexy about the female body.
With guys though, brown hair, blue eye, funny, and a great personalty takes the cake.

It's curious to me that people still have physical attribute standards within relationships (within reason, of course). I can understand having a type that you are more attracted to, but the most important thing is a person's mind, not their body. This is of course null and void if the type of relationship desired is based on physicality (like a sexual relationship), but in a long term 'maybe get married one day' relationship, well I don't care what their body is like, I want someone with a great mind (and heart).
I am certainly not the pencil thin type, and I am not too concerned with people who won't date me if I don't weigh 105 pounds, because our base values aren't copacetic and that is something that is very important to me. It can actually be a good screening tool.
My value system doesn't require physical fitness, and if theirs does, we shouldn't be dating anyway. A weight issue is only a way to reach that conclusion quickly. :)
