i don't mind curvy or skinny, as long as they can dance naked without wanting to hold a fan made of ostrich feathers.

I know... watching the strippers... er, I mean, educating yourself on their 'profession' can completely reset your priorities in a woman.

you really need to sorta rephrase this becuase im not a "skinny pencil" but i am very petite.

I'm 5'1 and 105 pounds but very athletic so i mean i guess the question perhaps should be...

'do men actually like the curvy women vs the petite or skinny pencil?'

I dont know. I dont consider myselth to be a pencil but i dont consider myself curvy...tough to explain? I dont know.

I once heard:
Three old ladies were out shopping at the mall , When Edna decided to pick up lingerie to take home and model for her husband later. The other ladies were shocked, and said, how with your age/body would you have the courage to show it off. Edna just smiled and said.. Honey, when your the only naked woman in the room all he see's is beautiful.

You don't have to explain it. The reason some people had a problem with this thread from the start is that you can't classify all women as either "curvy" or a "skinny pencil". And even if you are skinny/petite, there is nothing wrong with that either (contrary to how the original question was posed).

I am not a petite woman by any means, but I don't understand how those that have posted don't see that the phrase
"skinny pencil" as very rude?
Slim, petite and many more words come to mind as a better discriptive word.

I fit in the "curvy" section and have no problem with it, both for myself and with the men I meet (ok.. the men I might meet!!)

Slim ad petite is not skinny as a pencil. But yuppers it is much more pelite. We should not call anyone cool enough to be on here a pencil.,might get erased. Curvy be part of being a Lady. No Guy in his right mind should have a problem with liking curves. Other women may get jealous over better shown curves and Guys get in fights over them too. Would love to meet some Friendly Curves.

Ok, I gotta go get my tape measure out and check my ratio......lol.

Touchy subject! I agree that "curvy" sounds more appealing than "pencil thin" and could skew the responses, but I think we all got the OP's point and have our own opinions on it, no matter what you call it.

As someone already said, I really do think it is all in the eyes of the beholder. My ex-husband thought I was fat and gave me such a complex about it, that I still struggle with that image of me today. The irony is, I was much thinner than am I now, but not nearly as healthy.

On the other end of the scale (no pun intended), an ex-boyfriend (who btw loved my curves) told me once that even though, he was attracted to slimmer women, sex/cuddling with them was not nearly as enjoyable, as with someone larger!

Also, someone mentioned about age......I'm over 50 and trust me, we are still competing, mainly against younger women, which isn't fair, but it's life.

In the end, I think confidence and accepting/liking yourself is what attracts people.

I was impressed with the decision in Spain a few months back to stop unnaturally skinny runway models from participating in a fashion show. I wonder if this will help towards people re-evaluating what they consider sexy.

Here is news coverage:

MADRID, Spain - Spain’s top fashion show has turned away a slew of models on grounds they are too skinny — an unprecedented swipe at body images blamed for encouraging eating disorders among young people.

Organizers of the pageant, known as the Pasarela Cibeles, used a mathematical formula to calculate the models’ body mass index — a measure of their weight in relation to their height — and 30 percent of the women flunked, said the Association of Fashion Designers of Spain.

The association said Friday it wanted models at the show running from Sept. 18-22 to project “an image of beauty and health” and shun a gaunt, emaciated look.

I don't think they meant FAT.
Curvy could also mean you have a tiny waist and a little curve to the hips.
Some women have no curves on their hips at all.
From what I've heard - men like tiny waists and a slight curve on the hips.
If a woman is skinny- I have heard men comment about a bone rack.

Lets get the lead out.....

I brought my pencil give me something to write on...in my best David Lee Roth scream

Skinny pencil hands down, slimmer is better for me than, heavy.

But of course the connection with the person, is a way more important than their body style or weight.

Beauty is only skin deep, but ugly goes right to the bone.
Personality has a lot to do with it.

So.......Ya....... give me my pencil........

Skinny, petite, curvy, athletic - it doesn't matter. Give me a woman of any healthy weight who's close to loving her whole body.

I don't remember the curves or delicate figure as much as the delightful little imperfections . . . love isn't blind, it just notices really different things . . ..

I most enjoyed the post by " who the fox" 03/10/2007

Anyways, having said that, my personal preference is petite. I love tiny women, now I don't mean downright scary tiny, stick and bones type, but I prefer petite women.

NOW - having said that, I will point out, its all in the chemistry, I have dated women taller than me, shaped different, ect ..ect.. I mean out of my normal preference range because we " connected " on the level.

If anyone gives you the heebie jeebies ( I love to use this word and I dont know why ) then it don't matter if they are drop dead gorgeous!!
Sometimes its about how you react to each other and how you flow together.

That depends on what your deffinitions of 'curvy' and 'pencil thin' are.
Personally, id prefer a curvy woman over a 'pencil thin' girl, theres nothing wrong with a bit of extra padding either, but there are limits.. same goes for being 'pencil thin'.. If you are annorexic, and u are 5'7" and only 60lbs.. seriously.. what guy would want somebody that thin.. i know it sounds kind of harsh.. but who wants to be lying there with somebody and have there ribs digging into their side as they are cuddling. And from one of the first responders in this topic, a comment was made that guys only want 'perfect' curves.... Yah.. guys like saying thats what they want, but when it comes down to it, guys arent as shallow as some woman seem to think.. Ive met more shallow woman than guys i know that are shallow. Obviously we like admiring the 'georgeous/beautiful/sexy/hot/nympho girls'.. but when it comes right down to it, if you fall in love with somebody, that alone will male them beautiful in your eyes.

Forgive me......but the question doesn't seem as well defined as all the answers.....
but allow me a go at what I read anyways.
Curvy minded women can be invitingly mysterious , artistically inspirating and so very hard, in the greatest of ways, to read. The skinny pencil minded ones are usually eloquent, swift to a definate point, insightful and gifted with a razor sharp wit. It's such a toss up as to which one's I prefer, for they both have a stunning ability to make me laugh at myself and shame the uptight world around me

One day when my son was about 19 (he's 27 now), we were walking into the mall and as we were going in, this beautiful girl was coming out. My son said hi to her and she said hello back to him. I turned to him after and said "My God that girl is georgeous", and she was, blonde, buxxom, slender but curvy....my son in his infinate wisdom turned to me and said "Only on the outside mom, only on the outside". I pondered this for a while and felt good that my son had learned well his lessons of life.

Truly beauty is in the eye of the beholder, slim, slender, fat, curvy....this is only the package a person comes in....

Speaking for my son who is a very attractive young man..... he has dated women of all shapes and sizes, some very large, some petite....all are beautiful human beings with big hearts, great character and integrity.

Sorry gals, he's not single any more....has a partner and a child. Just wanted to add

Way to go and you must be a great mom. Beauty is always the c0mplete package deal. Outer beauty may get first notice but the inner beauty is what you like to really get to notice. Folks come in all shapes and personalities, good, bad and in-between. Anyone can deserve the very best in life. Of course he does, thanks to a good upbringing. He handled the curves of life well. Hope most folks on here do too.

I was born with curves...I'm gonna die with curves...

Curvalicious and proud baby!!!

I think true beauty comes from within but outward appearances are the first thing people notice before they talk to you.
