| Your quote for the week!! Posted: 3/2/2009 7:02:53 AM | This is not a quote, but I hope it's o.k. that I post this here because I thought the words are quite inspiring.
I heard this story one time and thought I would share it with you. Sometimes, I have thoughts in my mind that I really am not making a positive difference in the people's lives that I care about and am trying to help. This story is a reminder to me that even my seemingly meaningless effort can have a life-changing impact on someone, even if I cannot see it.
One day a young man was walking along the beach, when in the distance, he could see someone else on the beach walking in his direction. As he neared the other person, he could see that it was an older gentleman who continually stopped and bent over, as if picking something up. He was curious as to what the other man was doing, so when he approached closer, his curiousity got the best of him. So, he greeted the elderly man and asked him "excuse me sir, but what is it that you are doing, constantly bending over picking something up?" The older man replied "well...do you see all these starfish lying along the beach here?" The younger man, who had been so absorbed in himself earlier had not noticed, so he looked around. When he saw what the old man was talking about he said "yes, I see them...what about it?" "Well", said the older gentleman "I am picking them up and throwing them back into the water". The young man was bewildered, because as he again looked on the beach, he saw that there were thousands of starfish lying on the sand. The young fella was certain that the old guy must have long lost his marbles! "My goodness, man!", he said to the old guy, "there are SO many of them". Then, in a sarcastic tone, he asked the older man "Do you really believe you're going to make any difference in saving ALLthese starfish?" The older man just beamed with a wide, knowing grin on his face, bent down, picked up another starfish and, as he threw it back into the ocean he said "There...made a difference to THAT fella, didn't I?"

| Your quote for the week!! Posted: 3/12/2009 3:14:09 AM | I got this this morning and thought - It just needs to be shared here! - Enjoy!!
An elderly woman and her little grandson, whose face was sprinkled with bright freckles, spent the day at the zoo. Lots of children were waiting in line to get their cheeks painted by a local artist who was decorating them with tiger paws. "You've got so many freckles, there's no place to paint!" a girl in the line said to the little fella. Embarrassed, the little boy dropped his head. His grandmother knelt down next to him. "I love your freckles. When I was a little girl I always wanted freckles," she said, while tracing her finger across the child's cheek. "Freckles are beautiful!" The boy looked up, "Really?" "Of course," said the grandmother. "Why just name me one thing that's prettier than freckles." The little boy thought for a moment, peered intensely into his grandma's face, and softly whispered, "Wrinkles." -Author Unknown-

"Follow the path of the unsafe, independent thinker. Expose your ideas to the dangers of controversy. Speak your mind and fear less the label of 'crackpot' than the stigma of conformity. And on issues that seem important to you, stand up and be counted at any cost."

| Your quote for the week!! Posted: 3/18/2009 4:37:56 AM | MY HERO and Why
My hero is someone who cares about other people. He works hard to better himself and his situation. He pursues growth mentally, emotionally, spiritually, Metaphysically and physically, with diligence and perseverance.
He helps others when he can. He is more then willing to admit when he is wrong and make whatever amends are possible.
He strives to learn new things with clarity and understand what is around him with compassion. He understands that he is human, accepts resposibility for his mistakes, does what he can to rectify them, then moves on.
He wants to experience and understand the world in all its many facets as completely as possible in his lifetime. He finds joy in learning and understanding new things. He finds purpose in sharing his understanding with others and being understood.
He takes pleasure in personal growth and fulfillment. He struggles to learn from everyone who crosses his path no matter what their age, race, gender or outward appearance.
He believes finding love is the most important thing in this life and promotes it wherever he can
"Why", you ask is he my hero? Because he is who I want to be most in this world.
