| What is the biggest misconception about you Posted: 7/22/2007 4:27:34 PM | Hmmmm....That I am standoffish and snobbish when I am really quite shy, and take a bit to warm up to people.... That I am a very strong and competent person. HA!!! Don't know who started that rumor.... That I am too opinionated....(guess I shouldn't talk so much, back to standoffish).... That they have to jump through hoops to make me happy.... No, but kind of entertaining.... I am really quite easy to get along with.... | |

| What is the biggest misconception about you Posted: 7/22/2007 4:50:39 PM | Tigger59, I'm right there with you. People repeatedly take my kindness for weakness. Then they meet the very assertive me. I'm not sure if they like that part. | |

| What is the biggest misconception about you Posted: 7/22/2007 6:13:30 PM | People who don't know me well see my kindness as indecision and "waffling", honest mistake . Good thing my friends IRL know that I'm not indecisive. Thanx to Tigger59 and LadyDreadHead | |

That I am standoffish and snobbish when I am really quite shy, and take a bit to warm up to people.... That I am a very strong and competent person.
I get that as well sometimes. I am just not one of those people persons.
Another misconception is based more on my race because I have always been a minority at my places of employment. Some people just assume since I am a white male that I am a hard core, far right republican. They assume this without so much as a single question on my political thoughts. The keywords above are 'some people,' not everyone.

| What is the biggest misconception about you Posted: 7/22/2007 6:50:12 PM | | Sometimes people think I look mad, when I am concentrating on anything....My ex husband did some damage and now I look angry everyone says....I think I'm smiling and when I see a picture , I'm not smiling at all. It's terrible.... | |

| What is the biggest misconception about you Posted: 7/22/2007 6:57:49 PM | | That I am gullible, naive, simple-minded and childish. THey couldn't be farther off the mark, and are usually surprised when they discover their error in judgment. | |

| What is the biggest misconception about you Posted: 7/23/2007 2:43:56 AM | i get told i'm too good to be true. well excuse me, i'm just doing the best i can with my life. ok so i can cook, (very well) i am a tidy person, im tactile passionate (when in a relationship) im not abusive i dont tell blatant lies. i dont play with anyones head.

| What is the biggest misconception about you Posted: 8/15/2009 8:16:12 AM | That I am strong and don't need anyone, am standoffish and snobbish when I am really quiet and shy at first with new people.
That I must be really difficult because I'm single.

| What is the biggest misconception about you Posted: 8/15/2009 8:45:54 AM | ^ Wow, two years since the last post? You must have done a lot of digging to find this thread .
On topic: I was recently mistaken for a perfect gentleman. Not to say that I am the opposite, but a recently made friend was very shocked (in a not altogether bad way) to learn that I wasn't 'perfect'. I really can't say how many others are under the same, mistaken, impression .

| What is the biggest misconception about you Posted: 8/15/2009 9:08:39 AM | My boyfriends (and some of my family memebers actually) always say that I'm very cold, and uncaring. I think it's because I'm very blunt with my words. It's not true, it's just that I show how I care in practical, real ways, not silly flowery words or empty cheesey gestures. | |

| What is the biggest misconception about you Posted: 8/15/2009 2:48:10 PM | I tend to be very introverted when I am unfamiliar with people or surroundings. EVERYBODY including bosses, family thinks I am slow(retarded) cause I don't talk alot.
They find out I am a bit intelligent when they talk to me.
|
| What is the biggest misconception about you Posted: 8/15/2009 2:57:02 PM | | My soft spoken, quiet, gentle nature is often seen as gullible or naive. Not true in the least bit. I'm not really shy, but I am abit reserved, espeically when first meeting someone or when I'm with strangers. I'm also very non-judgmental, sensitive and I easily forgive and forget, but that doesn't mean I'm anyone's carpet. I'm a very strong woman, just not in very vocal, loud or cold way. My strength is also gentle. | |

People mistake my shyness for snobbiness.
WOW! +1 to that. I thought that before I opened this thread. One of my friends said "Oh, by the way, my cousin saw you in class, do you know her?" I said "No, I don't, what did she say". My friend proceeded to tell me how her cousin viewed me as elitist/snobbish. I then asked her "Well how often has your cousin approached me in conversation." She thought for a minute and said "Never". I LOL'ed.

| What is the biggest misconception about you Posted: 8/16/2009 12:30:48 AM | Ok... I'll fess up... It's the erroneous belief held by a a few gullible acquaintances that I can actually walk on water... Yeah... Just like Mary & Joseph's little boy...
But it's just a ruse... If you watch carefully, the only home video of this stunt reveals that unlike Jesus - who was barefoot - I'm wearing the magic sandals I purchased on ebay...
Got them cheap, too... No other bidders...
No other bidders for "Ancient Magic Sandals from the Holy Land which will allow you to walk on water!"...
Anyway, the fun's over... The novelty has worn off... Haven't put them on in years...
You can have them for a song... They're a size 10... Any takers?...

You refrained from responding to the topic's question yourself...
So here's one maybe you can tackle...
What is art?... Exactly?...
