We are looking at the 10th to the 13th of November. If anyone is interested you can look at flights for your nearest airport for those dates..

As everyone doesnt live close to one particular airport we are going to try and see if we can all get the same hotel and meet up there on the day if folk are arriving at different times of the day.

If we cant all get the same hotel we are going to arrange a meeting point for the evening..

If anyone finds cheap flights can you let us know so we can inform anyone who may want to fly from that airport..

As said, 2 weeks and we hope to have something definete..

The best thing to do right now as far as flights are concerned is to wait until the beginning of May, as that is officially the start of the summer season, and most charter airlines work 2 seasons at a time..so right now they're working on winter/summer...low cost airlines are an option, but it's really worth waiting for companies such as Avro and Freedom Flights to publish their fares before doing anything...at the moment, the low cost airlines are quoting prices from £52.00 (Gatwick), £76.00 (Luton/Coventry), £113.00 (Birmingham), and between £125-130 from Manchester and East Mids.
The chances are, Avro and Freedom Flights will have cheaper fares from the more northerly airports...hope all this helps

Which airport would we be flying to as I live 10 mins away from Edinburgh airport to not much point in travelling all the way to Brum though it would be good if everyone could get a flight together, depends on times etc which I suppose are pretty hard to sort out right now.

Where???

I fly out to Gibraltar tomorrow and it is rain for all three days I am there!

Let's hope it gets better. I keep getting told stories about 360 days of sun a year but seems like a ruse to get us to relocate!

simonralli,

do not believe everything you hear on TV or newspapers.

my country Spain does NOT have 360 days of sun a year, that is a great lie. i assume real states and building companies say it just to try to 'capture' more Brits.

i know what i talk about and believe me when i say that lots of Brits come here thinking they come to 'the sun for eternity' leaving the rain and fog of Britain behind. and once it rains in some part of Spain they get frustrated or sad.

Spain does have a very good climate but sometimes it rains and is cold, lol

it depends on which part are you choosing, if you choose the north and northwest you will have the same climate as in Britain or Ireland with much rain, green valleys, you know, a green landscape. if you choose the south and southeast then you will have the best climate with sun, beaches, etc but sometimes it rains, even if it does not happen a lot.

sue as i live in spain about 25miles from Benidorm my advice would be to take no notice of people slagging off Benidorm its been having an ongoing facelift for quite a few years now and is just what it says on the tin a place to have fun !!! the hotels are very cheap if you hagle and drink and cigs are almost worth buying even if you dont smoke (sell and pay for the trip) as for having it at Torrevieja forget that place !! Fred Bloggs and his wife have bought the cheap end of the market and now cant give them away its a dump!!! There are some very pretty places not that far from Benidorm for those who wake up during the day but expect not many will be up for exploring castles lol One of my good mates a dutch guy works on the doors at a club in benidorm so if you need any info drop me a line and ill get Gus to give me the low down on best places

Its funny that most of the people who slag off benidorm have often never stayed there or if they have their experience is of one hotel and perhaps the one street where Cafe Benidorm and the other "treat them cattle" bars exist. A trip to the old town and some of the Tapas bars and restauarants may make people think there is more to to this place than meets the eye. or 2 miles north of Benidorm in Albir on the weekend of the 10th to the 13 you will find a cricket match from two Ex-pat teams made up of englishmen from all walks of life. so how about we all meet in the old town on friday night in Vincents at nine o clock? Its agood starting point as its centrally located in the old town and is large enough for plenty of plenty of Fishes?
With regards to coach/taxi transfers from Alicante 4 people sharing a taxi will cost around 15 euros each or around 75 euros per taxi. I didnt see many larger taxis available but apparently the bus and train service (renfe trains)to Benidorm is quite good. if you want to get a self drive try www.carjet.com as the easiest and cheapest way to hire acar in spain although I wouldn't really like to drive on some of the things they call roads over there. Other things to consider- if you get the weather Levante beach is nice this time of year as you will be able to find a space and the festival procession is something to see in itself. the Spaniards put alot of work into it.

I have received a couple of mails asking about this weekend away, so if anyone is still interested in doing this it may still happen.

Anyone interested in going its Friday 9th November..until Monday 12th November..

Anyone finding a cheap flight to Alicante for that date can you please let me know or post it up on here for everyone else to see..

If we get enough interest, and we can get cheap enough flights, we will do it..

Benidorm from Alicante takes half an hour or even less using the motorway.

when you all come to Benidorm, please let me know and we shall have some beers, i mean, our Spanish beers are the best

i only live 2 hours far from Benidorm
