| Does Anyone Actually Look Like Their Pics? Posted: 4/24/2007 11:55:34 AM | Bill your right...Flowers looks much better in person fer sure!! My pics...What the hay...there they are, and I got some real good ones to sell! However, what really gets me the most...folks that put out only facial pics in thier profile. I have learned from the parties. Face pics only...means a VERY VERY large person! A few extra pounds?!!! (sorry its mostly women) Comon folks be up front and real about yourselves! Why shock folks when they finally meet you. | |

| Does Anyone Actually Look Like Their Pics? Posted: 4/24/2007 12:02:57 PM | | I actually do, although one member accused me of placing an old pic up, kinda flattering really...it's only about a month old. Why should 47 look a certain way? Any way, good luck... | |

But, remember, webcams do hid the wrinkles we get as we age. LOL Some of the guys I have met have NOT looked like their pics. Some had extra pounds the pic. hid. Some were better looking than their pics. But, I think the pics give you at least some inkling of what the person looks like. So, they are helpful. LU

| Does Anyone Actually Look Like Their Pics? Posted: 7/19/2007 6:25:39 AM | | I haven't met anyone who looked dramatically different than his photos, although some were obviously a few years old. I try to keep mine pretty recent. The ones I have up now are from December '06. | |

| Does Anyone Actually Look Like Their Pics? Posted: 7/20/2007 4:14:16 PM | To the OP: I look almost like my pics. Even though they are less than a year old, I have since started training for a marathon, so I look slimmer than my pics. As I get new pics, I post them.
That being said, I have been on a couple of dates from POF where the date looked nothing like their photo. They put thin, or average build, and in reality, their height is the same as their width. They might have looked like that 10 years ago, but not now. I think that's the risk of dating through the internet.

| Does Anyone Actually Look Like Their Pics? Posted: 7/23/2007 4:23:09 PM | I have been out with two guys from POF and they both looked exactly like their pictures. And neither of them complained about me not looking like mine so I guess mine must not be far off.
I guess if you don't plan on ever actually meeting someone face to face it doesn't matter what your picture looks like. But if you are really here to meet someone, sooner or later the truth will win out.

| Does Anyone Actually Look Like Their Pics? Posted: 7/24/2007 2:50:08 PM | well.... i've been told that some of my pictures don't do ANY justice for me, that i'm better looking in person! Which i totally disagree! anyways, most of my pictures are farely recent ones except the one with me and my horse! lol..it's only there because it's my FAVORITE!! as for meeting someone, i've done it once or twice , and they actually did look like their pictures, which took alot of stress off my shoulders!! haha..but then again that makes me sounds a little foolish, i'm not basing anything on just pure looks alone, they MUST also have a wonderful personality that will go along great with mine!! thank you goodbye! :) | |
|
| Does Anyone Actually Look Like Their Pics? Posted: 7/24/2007 5:23:27 PM | ,,, my shirt looks exactly the same.
,,okay, it has some more paint on it! But its still the same.
I shaved my face ,,,,, now I dont look they same. *arrgh* ,,must either put new pics ,,,,,,,,, or wait till I grow another goatee.
,,, Oh,, whichever doesnt take much effort.
Peace to all and much love.

| Does Anyone Actually Look Like Their Pics? Posted: 8/6/2007 1:58:53 AM | | Very often it is a problem. However I have 8 pics posted.. and the most recent 2 were taken February of 07, one was taken May 06, another Dec 06, and so on.. Nothing I have posted is older than 2003. Most people I have met in person tell me that my photo's do NOT do me justice... so I take that as a compliment. I figure if they liked the photo's...... then hopefully they'll have no complaints when they meet me in person. | |

| Does Anyone Actually Look Like Their Pics? Posted: 8/6/2007 5:56:38 AM | | Just went to a POF meeting and the first thing that was said to me was "You look just like your pic!". That means my pic is RECENT! So, it is impoartant to change your pics if your looks, hairstyle, etc change! | |

| Does Anyone Actually Look Like Their Pics? Posted: 8/6/2007 7:20:47 AM | There seems to ba a lot of deformed women on POF. A lot of women's pictures have a third arm in them........
There is plenty of room in your profile to explain the pictures, when they were taken, and why you chose them etc. That will help give personality insite to the person viewing (and evaluating) them and you through those pictures and profile. I suppose if you are only looking for somone with a short attention span, a short profile is all you want.

| Does Anyone Actually Look Like Their Pics? Posted: 8/6/2007 12:18:22 PM | | I'LL HAVE TO BE TOTALLY HONEST WITH ALL OF YOU............ I do look different in real life than in my pics. In real life, I typically wear skin tight blue tights and red boots. I know it sounds a bit weird, but it works for me. I travel throughout the world quite often, but mostly stay in the U.S., around the New York area because of my special job. My "job title" logo is painted on my chest area, on top of my skin tight blue outfit and it is a large Yellow/Red "S". I also wear a long red cape that matches the rest of my outfit and brings everything into proportion but I'll admit, it does get in the way at times and I kinda wish I never had it on, because it really serves no purpose. Well, it does cover my underwear line on my back side though, so it does kinda help with that. Any hoo, sorry to mislead anyone, but I find it's necessary as my job requires things to be quite secure. | |

| Does Anyone Actually Look Like Their Pics? Posted: 9/27/2007 11:04:04 AM | This is almost a rhetorical question...
How many people do you know that just snatch some random pic from the web and post it as themselves? Or, in the case of another POF member that told one of her matches that he resembled her dad, and sent a pic to him to prove it, only to see it posted on this guy's profile... Talk about Identity Theft, besides, it would turn me WAAAY off to meet someone that reminds me of my mom and have dating on my mind with this person... ICKY!!!
So yeah, pics can range from the good ones you had in High School, to the most recent ones showing you passed out drunk after a POF gathering, drooling and pale from the flash. Or like some of those on the internet, with a bunch of your friends exposing their privates as you lay snoring, with your mouth agape.
Pictures are designed to do what the words cannot do. Elicit an emotional and neurochemical response in the viewer. Sure someone LOOKS so hot and bright in the pictures, but when you meet this person, they can be dull and unfinished. Just like the ones that have the dorkiest and most unappealing photos, can be the brightest and best compatible person, but their photo has the wrong lighting or camera angle, so all you see is a gray dwarf with big nostrils and what appears to be fangs... Not everyone can afford to hire a professional photographer for their profile pics and some use the "glamor shots" that they had made at the mall, with semi-professional stylists and costumes. We all can look like a model if we have someone projecting an image of the status quo onto us. Heck, I can look like Brad Pitt with the right makeup and hairstyle... That's a stretch, but still... I know makeup artists that can literally change anyone's appearance with a few strokes of a makeup pencil and the application of a little foundation and blush. Yes, I am a stage actor, so I'm accustomed to radically changing my appearance to fit the role.
Each of us have a bit of an actor inside, some have honed this to razor sharpness, while others rely on the bumbling, slapstick humor that normally gets them positive attention.
Either way, it is not about how you look, but how you appear to that one special person that most of us have yet to meet. Looks fade with time or can be drastically altered with makeup, medical manipulation like Botox and other injectable medications or reconstructive surgery.
The bottom line is this: Are you happy with yourself? Do not expect another person to make such drastic changes in your life, when you can make the changes for yourself or not change at all, just be yourself and if they don't like you... It is THEIR LOSS.
