the Tim Hortons I frequent is as slow as molasses. It's new...and of course the people are new. They sit there chatting as they work and take their sweet ole time getting things for people. They're not very organized...Drives me bonkers when I have to get back to work! there is no drivethru, as it is in a building, so I'm glad there is no drivethru or I'd truly go nuts. I'm sure it will get better with more time as the people get more experience.

on the whole roll up the rim contest...I never win those things, but oddly enough, the last two coffees I purchased there: I won a coffee and a donut! yay me!

What I hate the most is when you're in drive thru...and the cars in front of you are ordering LUNCH. I'm talking sandwiches and soup and chilli, the whole 9 yards.

Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't drive through invented for FAST service?? I think a rule for those who order that, should go in the store and get it. Leave the rest of us who are in a bit of a hurry, get our coffee and go!!!

There is definitely a secret pyschotrope in the mix. How else can you explain the fact that at 6 in the morning in february people are lined up and accross the street at coffee time where there is no line the only person is a homeless guy getting out of the cold. I can have two big cups of freshly ground coffee at home in the morning...but I will still be on the jones for tim's. So it has nothingto do with coffee. I am sure the government is involved and the psychotropic additive is incredibly addictive and in all likelihood also designed to make us docile, compliant and happy to pay our taxes. Now if you will excuse me I have to put my tinfoil hat back on so they can't read my mind and control my thoughts and get back to the serious business of hiding under the bed

lol - I jst think that people are psychologically addicted to caffeine!

there was an urban myth going around that they were sticking nicotine in the coffee. I had to have a big guffaw at that one!

only during roll up the rim, do I forgo making my morning cup o java to get some while at work, because I figure "who knows, maybe I'll roll up the rim and win something!" And go figure - twice in two days!

Last night I stood in line for about 10 minutes. Got so incensed at things, went back out, got into my car, was through the drive through, coffee in hand in about 2 minutes.

other times, I'm in and out before a car has moved in line.

You can just never win. Be happy it's cash only and no Interac.....whooo boy!

My name is Beautiful~Disaster and I am addicted to Tim Hortens ....

My SO can confirm this .... First thing in the morning I am good with a cup of instant to hold me over until I get to Tim's .... I live in freaking Hamilton ... it is almost a necessity.

There are several locations in the downtown Hamilton core that are horrendous for lines ... John and Jackson is the absolute worst in my opinion ... I avoid that one at all cost. The lines at the one in Jackson Square always appear to be really long, but you move super quick, so no complaints.

My Dad being a north of Toronto guy is not a Tim Hortens fan at all ... but he always stops for one at the little drive thru one at Dundurn right before you get on the 403, he swears they make the best cup of coffee there ... I do not think I have ever gotten a bad coffee from there ever.

Lines for me are simple ... I sing a song until I get to the cashier and if the line is long enough people will let me go in front of them to shut me up .... I kid you not first thing in the morning I will do what it takes

Timmie's has without a doubt, the WORST customer service. (and the coffee ain't all that great either)

Thank you, thank you ...THANK YOU !!!

Tim Horton's is utter crap. Horrible looking stores, overworked and overstressed employees, nasty coffee, and great greasy wads of deep fried sugary dough.

It just goes to show you the scary power of advertising and the sheeplike mentality that so many Canadians seem to ascribe to as a matter of rote.

I don't worry about line ups. I chat it up with others in line.
We worry too much about perfect service from people who make 7.00/ hour or whatever the going rate is. People make mistakes.
I design and sell kitchens for a living, I tell clients all the time to pick up a magazine next time they are in line at the grocery store, it sparks ideas and kills the time.
Next time you are in line try chatting with others look around you there is a world out there to be explored!

I used to go to Tim Horton's all the time. Of course since I quite smoking going on five weeks ago now, I try to avoid it because I always want a cigarette with my cappucino lol My mother came into town for coffee night on Wednesday and afterwards she had to go to Timmie's so I got dragged along lol And of course I gave in and had my regular extra large half English Toffee half French Vanilla cappucino and a triple chocolate cheesecake because the cherry cheesecake which we had at coffee night was out of my system by then of course lol However I did not give in and have a cigarette with them. Yah me!

Oh right, when smoking I can spend $10 a day, when not smoking I'm lucky if I spend $10 a month at Tim Horton's.

In all fairness.... have you seen how much the wages are at Timmies???

Actually some Tim Hortons are unionized shops now and get paid rather well. That being said, its my opinion that even if someone is being paid minimum wage its still no justification for lousy service.

One day I was waiting in a Tims Drive through and this utterly rude man was honking his horn and shouting out the window at the wait. The car in front of me had a person who was disabled and couldnt get out and walk in without it taking a tremendous amount of effort/time. I had time to wait and it was less than 6 minutes for a lunch order to come through ....

If your complaining about the line and wait while in the drive through.... then maybe you should leave for work a little earlier...or get outta your car and go into the store and get it yourself.

Drive throughs are meant for more than just a coffee. A mother with younger children in the car finds it a big time saver and safety for the children not getting out of a van and into a stroller to get a couple drinks and some Tim bits... Ever see the cars driving through the timmies parking lot, because they need that coffee and cannot live without it?

For those complaining about the wait, maybe you didnt have time for that coffee anyway... leave 10 mins earlier for work... and make time for the coffee.

I guess what I am saying is not everyone is lazy.. some have valid reasons...

You make some valid points I hadn't considered. ie the disabled person I never honk at others though. I do hate getting trapped in line though when I originally had enough time, but that extra 6 minutes brings me to being late or almost late. I communte and already have to get up at 5am so I am NOT getting up another 10 minutes earlier. All I want is a tea to start the day. If I am going in for a later shift, it isn't usually as much as a problem and I skip a long line.

I still believe in general, you should go inside to order full meals. Personally, I think if I had kids, I would be going to McDonalds or Wendys for a meal. I expect a bit of a wait in their drivethru because they are meant for meals. But darn it...Timmies is supposed to be fast!!! That is why I go there!

I heard a while back that Tim Horton's had surpassed McD's in terms of total revenue ....all those coffees. To the shareholders in Wendy's/Tims....you're welcome.

I think the biggest problem is women who suffer from ECS, otherwise known as 'Exact Change Syndome". If a guy orders and it comes to $3.68 he'll hand over a $5, $10 or $20...take his order and change and be on his way. If a woman has to pay $3.68 it has to be 3 loonies (or a twonie and a loonie) two quarters, one dime, one nickle and three pennies.

Okay...I'm gonna duck for cover now, I think I'm about to have change laden purses flung at my head.

Ok, finally, I waited my 3DAYS after signing up to be priveledged enough to post a reply on here...*whew*. Course, I forgot my original point, but I do have to say this...

Positive notes for the long wait at Tims Drive Through:
1) Safe place to reply to all the text msgs on your phone that you received at night.
2) Good time to finish putting on your makeup that you didnt have time to do before you left
3) Gives you time to use your "ECS" skills and dig under your seat to find that dropped dime
4) Time to wonder if you turned off your hairstraightener
5) POWERNAP - come on, we all do it, I've seen you!

Oh, and BTW...I talked to a lady working at TIMS in Alberta, and if they show up for every shift, on time, they get paid for their 40hrs worked, but get a BONUS 40 HOURS....so essentially, they work 40, get paid for 80!

.... yes Im putting in my transfer to Alberta to work at TIMs...

The product is really good so I don't mind waiting in line for a few minutes. Luckily the Timmy's by my house is a small "out of the way" location and I don't wait any longer then five minutes.

You could live in my small town, two Timmies -- one rarely gets your order right, so the other one is busier, drive thru moves pretty quick actually. It is usually lined up out to the road, but if you opt to go inside, first you have to be able to get into the lot and then it's lined up out the door as well. I always check out what car was ahead of me and make it a game to see who gets out of there first

you have to have some type of entertainment! If I have my kids with me it's a great time to catch up on their day and fend off the requests for double chocolate donuts and chocolate milk just before suppertime. If I'm alone, I just like to sit in quiet contemplation sometimes.

I don't even mind the line ups in the drive thru that much. It's when I finally get up to order and their out of icecaps, well then you're stuck waiting behind 3 cars that have ordered dinner for 12 before you can finally escape and get to the next Timmies. They should have a neon sign before entering the drive thru that says "sorry,we are temporarily out of ice caps"
As for the service at my favourite Timmies, the staff is fantastic. They've even leaned out the window and are half-way into my car with my ice caps after my therapy sessions because I'm in too much pain to reach for them.My only disappointment is that they don't deliver.

I think they should have an emergency exit for the drive through. As it stands now, once you enter you are trapped until you reach the end. If you do not feel like waiting any more because the lines is too slow you should be able to escape.

I agree with the No Sandwiches rule at the drive-through. I also think if they are out of ice-capps they should somehow let people know BEFORE they enter the line up, Putting a note on the ordering board after yo have waited int he line up for 10 minutes is not effective at all.

As for the fact they don't make a lot of money, too bad. There is no excuse for poor customer service. No person who pours coffee as their chosen profession should get much more than minimal wage in my opinion.

But I love their coffee and will continue to get my x-large double double each morning. And while waiting in line, like the good Canadian I am, will continue to **** about the line-ups and act surprised that the weather in April is cold and miserable LOL
