How old before you let your kid use their own changeroom for swimming?

Just further to this subject, I have been going to the same pool regularly since the time I saw my neighbour and his girls a few weeks ago and I haven't seen them since. I had not changed my habits and have still been showering with nothing on, as have many other men. There's no big deal in it.

I went again last sunday and, as I walked in to the shower room, there were about 6 or 7 other blokes in there, some with trunks on, some without. I saw someone I know from going to the pool and we said hello and talked about the European Championships as we showered. Then my neighbour came in and stood next to me, this time he had no trunks on either, and he joined in our conversation. Then, to my amazement, his daughter came in to the shower room with a friend, a different friend this time. They too showered, but with their costumes on. When I said I thought Germany would win, his daughter's friend turned and looked at me and said "No, Holland will" in the cheeky way that kids of that age do. I didn't know what to say apart from "Well, they've had a good start, but can they keep it up?" and the conversation just continued from there. The 2 girls went to their lockers first and I walked naked back to my locker with my neighbour so I could dry off at my locker as I hadn't taken anything to the shower (I left both my trunks and my towel in my locker as usual). As we were walking back, the 2 girls were getting changed and, as I got my stuff from my locker, I asked him if he thought it was ok for them to be in here. His daughter looked at me and said "Oh, don't worry, I'm used to it. Dad takes me in men's changing rooms all the time since Mum died. It's cool and I'm not worried, it's natural. I've seen lots of men naked and I don't care as long as they don't. After I saw you last time, I never thought about it when we saw each other in the street and I still don't mind seeing you now, with or without clothes". I looked at her and said, "What about your friends, what do they think, what do their parents say?". She replied to me that her parents were naturists and encouraged her to be comfortable with nudity.

I must admit, as I was walking to the bench next to the girls with my neighbour, I did say that it was a healthy way of thinking and it didn't seem to do any harm. We carried on talking about football as I got dressed and the girls didn't bat an eyelid as I talked to them about football when I had nothing on and I did think that this was a good thing in many ways. I mentioned to my neighbour about some people not being as comfortable with it as I was and he said that, until someone complains, he will carry on doing this because of the closeness he has with his daughter since her Mum passed away.

Gheesh what a topic here. I would not allow my 11 year old daughter to gio into a mens changing room period. She would go with me into the womens or if she was with her father I would ask that by age 6-7 she is able to go alone and stand outside the door. I would also make sure that noone is standing in the nude where she can see that.
I allow my son to go in the mens by himself I will either stand right outside the door and yell in and continue talking to him whil.e he is in there or something. Now when I have to go to the bathroom I do make him go in the bathroom with me ok it's a womans bathroom where there are stalls and he stands his feet at the door where I see them at all times. However I do know that some parents can't trust other peopole or there own children to do this so the answer is dress at home and don't change.

I must admit, it felt a surreal situation to find myself in. There was lots going on around them, men with nothing on, and they didn't seem interested in "having a peek" to coin a phrase, and seemed to regard talking to me as I was naked in front of them as normal as talking to their friends in the school playground.

I was talking to my neighbour only this morning and his daughter and her friend came home and we said hello. You expect girls of that age to giggle and whisper to themselves, but they came back, said hello and we briefly talked about the football, I mentioned to them that I thought Holland would go out tonight! The both of them seem very mature about the whole thing. Maybe her friend being brought up in a naturist environment has done this

as a girl, I totally believe she should be in the ladies room by 6. It't not like thare are as many 'pediphile' women out there, if anything most adult women will look after kids in the ladies room when they notice they're on their own.

i think you need to re think this there are just as many women as there are men that molest kids so they are not safer in the women's rest room.

My God it's just a body so what if someone sees it it' s not like they are touching it!!!!!

this world needs to grow up.

I agree and disagree for 1hotman-now. We now live in a world that many people are doing terrible things. The situation could cause problems down the road with one of those sick people. You just have to be careful when you have children.

thank you for seeing the same thing. It is not just men that prey on the little ones it can be either male or female I watch the news and see both doing it.

We as parents need to protect our kids but at the same time give them their freedom thats what makes them have a value on life and they need to be able to explore.

I went to a nudist beach here in florida and what I saw shocked me (familys nude I mean babies to seniors all nude) now at first this shocked me but then 1 fanily talked to me and told me why they would allow this around their kids and they told me they wanted their kids to grow up with knowing that our bodys is just that a body it is not a sex object or to be ashamed of and they made perfect sense to me, I am not saying i could take my kids there but I do see the point they made to me.

We came into this world naked and out we will go naked. adam and eve were naked in the garden of eden and were not ashamed untill the forbiden fruit was eaten.

lets not over shelter our kids lets just do our job as parents and do our best to keep perv's away

I must say that the fact that my neigbour's daughter's freind was a naturist certainly gave her a more mature attitude towards me being naked in front of her, which is a good thing. Seeing a man, or woman, naked shouldn't be such a bad thing and, maybe if this were the case more often in socety in general, we wouldn't have so many of the problems we have now

I have found as my children get older that is very hard to not try and protect them from everything. That is a standing argument with my almost 17 year old. But with drugs, gangs and etc his behavior has been my guide not his age. To my knowledge he has not been into those things but he is interested so I have to be interested.
