I find both features - the testimonials and the favorite people thing - a little misleading and a double edged sword.

Testimonials - if this guy is so great, sister, why didn't YOU keep him? I mean to hear you talk, he does everything but walk on water.

My friendships are personal to me. I had a guy on here just the other day ask me the name and email of someone I knew so that he could email them and tell them "all about me". No thank you.

I do not add people to my favorites list. It is MY business whom I see or don't see. People add me to their favorites all the time and I routinely delete myself off of them.

I like this feature. I think that alot of the meetings that go on for friendships online are based solely on looks. With this new feature, it will become obvious to all who your friends are regardless of your looks...

The new feature is okay, however,I would like to know how it will resolve the problem we have with married people and fake game players. We have far too many married people on POF.

I don't believe having a picture will resolve either the married or the game player problem we have.

I'm sure it won't resolve the problem we have with some having false information in their profiles.

If the new feature will resolve the above I would like to know how it will resolve them.

Skeetertxgal, has a valid point. I also agree, those of us that do not allow our pictures to be viewed are not Dogs ,though some people view us that way. It's really disgusting not to be able to exercise our right without being classified as someone hiding something.

It would be nice if the new feature works and eliminates the undersirables.

Thanks for doing things to improve POF.

I totally like the idea except on the number of friends we are allowed. I have more than 3 and would hate to hurt anyones feelings. Now if I could have unlimited number that would be great.

Intersting concept. Won't know the value till it get futher down the road and The 'gotchas' start showing up.

Some thoughts:
- My friends AREN't on POF .
- Will I now be rejeted because I can't keep up with the 'friends' collectors?
- If eveyone else has friends will there be any left for me?
- Will I be veiwed as inferior if I'm listed last?
- How many friends is 'enough'?
- Will all my friends be considered 'used' dates?
- Will ALL my friends like ALL my friends?
adnausium.

Naaaaaah. Count me out.

I think this is a great idea, There are a lot of player's on this site, Maybe ? This will help to filter out the liars, and game player's. I'v had some real games player's on here .
Men with several different profiles, Not sure this will help but I think they are on the right track!!!!

I think people are being a bit harsh on Admin.

Not every idea is a great idea, not every idea is a bad idea. Sometimes you don't know how it will all play out until you see it at work.

My words exactly. Personally I have no use for the feature, but it's good to see that the Admin is striving to improve our experience on this site. Keep in mind guys this is a FREE site, but the Admin is working his but off to give us the best experience possible.

Just give things time to play out. Who knows, I may eventually love this feature.

Great idea for all! Even if you can not participate due to a lack of a picture, it would help you in the consideration of other profiles.

This sounds like an extra, frilly feature that noone really needs. How about making the IM work better so it doesn't do things like suddenly cut out in mid-converstion, and other annoying foulups. And why does it show that a user can IM on one web page, but when you see them on another, it shows they can't; and then on another, they can again?
Just a thought

I don't see the point in this feature but then again I still don't see the point in the testimonials either. I have had some very nice things said about me in testimonials by friends I have known for years but never dated so I removed them because I felt they were more of a deterrant for a potential date.

Most of the people who I have spoken to about this feature all said pretty much the same thing - they wouldn't contact someone with testimonials because it makes the person appear to be either the eternal "friend" type who doesn't usually fall into the romantic potential type - or they appear to be too good to be true which makes most people run away FAST. Lets face it - if all those people who left the testimonials really liked them then why are they still single?

For myself I know I wont contact a man who has testimonials ... it makes them come across as needing someone else to vouch for them instead of vouching for themselves. When you meet in person you get to see for yourself first hand who the person is and only in time will their true colors show through - no matter what others may say.

I think that is part of the difference of being an adult versus being a teenager - we get to make our own choices in life regardless of what others think.

were you can have links to 3 friends you like the most

Why would I want to make any of my many friends on here feel bad because I chose to leave them out??? (specifying numbers does that!) I have more than 3 friends who could vouch for me.
It's like allowing 15 testimonials and they keep getting bumped and have to post again to get on the top or they feel bad being off the list!

On another note, I've had people write to those on my testimonials and quite frankly I don't want my friends being bothered by those I turn down bugging the heck out of them to speak on their behalf, or complaining to them because I'm not answering them enough! If I specified friends you better believe my friends are going to say exactly what I want them to so the whole thing is not going to be a true accounting of the person anyway. Just as the testimonials are written by those we choose to put on our list.

To me, the testimonials made more people feel bad on here, especially those who don't have any... and I feel bad for them! Not to mention those hurt by members posting while they're not online, ripping them apart with a vengence because a date didn't go well. I had a friend who met someone and they didn't click. He told her he was sorry but she was so pissed that she went home, came on here and plastered a testimonial like you couldn't believe. Unfortunately he didn't see it for a couple of days and the damage was done. That's why I pushed for the okay first...before things get written on our profiles. We're so concerned about protecting people from players but what about protecting those who get attacked by crazies who can't stand rejection? That's not fair.
And what about those who have no friends on here to list any links to?

I find it almost as bad as the "no email" feature. I'm not sure whether it's to make us feel bad that those people haven't had a contact, or if it's to make them feel bad that their pic is plastered there with a neon sign making them look like a loser!!!

Please don't ever put my pic up there regardless of how long I go without an email from someone! That is totally embarrassing!!! I wonder if they even know?!?

Point is...why do we have to keep pointing out those who don't have a lot of friends? Isn't the point of being on here to make new ones. Why are we always so worried about how "real" someone is? For crying out loud if someone wants to fool you their friends will go along with it too so that doesn't help to have them listed.

As far as players go...we all know if someone wants to meet someone because they feel an attraction they're more than likely not going to care what anyone else says. They'll make up their own mind when they meet them in person..which is exactly what they should do because every encounter is different. All this MISjudging etc sets everyone up to be overly cautious and if we haven't learned the ropes for internet dating by now, we'll never learn it.

All just my opinion as usual. This site is great but I think if features are going to be added to enhance it, they should be beneficial to ALL members...and never discouraging or hurtful to anyone!
Therefore, I vote no on the links. I can speak for myself and don't need friends to vouch for anything. If someone doesn't believe me...OH WELL!

Edit: I just noticed the "History" feature under the pic. Now that's useful and cool!!!!

Hello all,
It's great to be back on POF. Love the community and the friends I have met so far. Am happy with the singles lifestyle and wonder why I got married in the first place. Hope every one has a good time and meets many new friends.

WOW! Interesting topic and reasons for not using this feature.

I enjoy seeing the new features that Markus implements on this site~~yes it is still FREE and you still have access to all the regular features you had before without paying extra.

While I see the opportunities borne out of this feature I will not be using it.

This would defeat the purpose of ladie's nights. While the main purpose is for us to go out and have a good time, we do discuss other men that we have met on the site~~good, bad, ugly or married. To be honest, many guys tell/recycle the same stories over and over again. Married, involved and those one's with girlfriends. Sometimes the cheaters are discovered by mistake, and some are discovered by getting around. If they knew who were friends they wouldn't be able to play the same game on several different women.

As for the positive? If we don't match or are incompatible, if I have a like minded friend~~she may be a good match for you, right? So for some, this new feature might bring them to their soul mate and knock them on their azzes!
