A quote and reply feature so you can click quote and reply and quote the text of a particular post above you. Or if the dry text tags were to the right, i.e.
[quote#][/quote#]
[B#][/B#]
[I#][/I#]
The # were left up there so the tags wouldn't activate.
So that people could copy and paste them themselves without having to line delete the "This allows you to ...." out each time.
I'd also like to see a more expansive search feature. I.E. search for threads by number of replies and posts and page views. This would make it easier for people to search for threads and hence avoid the dreaded "This topic has been done to death" issue. I think more people would use the search feature if the search feature was a little more expansive. | |

Posted: 3/17/2007 6:47:35 PM | Yes, many people add me to their favs, I tried deleting for a while they just add me back. It became more trouble then it is worth deleting over and over. So, yes I can only get to "L" and the 3 friends I would add are all past "L".

Give him credit, he's trying to add things to make it better. It's your choice, use them or don't. Favorites lists, testimonial, roses, fish personality and now 3 friends. It's all an option, opt in opt out.
I use what I want to or don't. Don't affect my enjoyment of this wonderful site, never has, never will.
Admin started this thread to get feedback, I gave mine. Not an option I'll use personally, but I'd never vote or ask to have it removed.
That is what he was asking, the man who owns and runs the site.
I say keep it and those who want to use it do so and enjoy it. | |

Posted: 3/17/2007 10:10:54 PM | Too many people playing games and cheating around on their mates by using this sight, So I personally feel it is a great idea because if you have that much to hide then you are not being real with yourself nor are you being truthful to others about yourself. Too many people think of this sight as a means of entertaining themselves at work or at home Trying to recreate a virtual world and treating this as a roll playing game. WELL PEEPS this is the real world and there are fragile people here and for you to use them in a game is completely wrong and there should be steps to make this sight more reliable in helping people finding their soul mates and true friends. I could go on for ever expressing my Ideas of how much steps like this could be a great asset to this sight.
Please POF put it in and leave it also make it part of the contact limiter If they dont have freinds on this sight that will back them up then I dont need their drama. I have been a member for over a year and I can not believe how many games I have had played on me by LIERS and CHEATS.

Posted: 3/17/2007 10:24:47 PM | Well after 5 or 6 pages of discussion on this new feature it should be apparent that it does not seem to be well conceived (or even repairable) even though the original intentions were undoubtedly all positive.
The discussion is not even really beginning to converge to a consensus (or even a polarization) of views really, all of which I take to be a sign that this particular feature's design is wrongheaded/muddled/flawed beyond repair and likely needs to be consigned to the dustbin of POF history...
As best as I can tell for every positive benefit it could potentially provide if people were to 'use it correctly' (whatever that means as this feature has taken POF design ambiguity to an art form) there seem to be at least 2 or 3 certain drawbacks that are each worse than all of the benefits. Maybe there are 2 or 3 seperate and/or conflicting features hiding here, or maybe you just 'can't get there from here' right now....
Contrast the design of this feature with that of the recently added 2 roses feature - the external meanings of this '3 friends' business is entirely dependent on how it is used by each user and as we can see that will vary greatly for each individual here... [you could argue this is not a bad thing, but what is the purpose of the site if it is not to benefit the most users most of the time?] ; the 2 roses feature on the other hand is such an elegant solution to the issues it was designed to address that all of its external meanings are essentially unmistakable and unavoidable no matter how the user goes about using it as long as they use it (and they may well not have a real choice either due to the verifiable aspect...) , in fact offhand I would say the only part of the 2 roses implementation you could change without breaking it completely would be to tweak the replenishment duration, and it may well be that 30 days is optimal anyway.
Of course I could be all wrong, Markus seems to have managed ok thus far without my input... | |

I like the idea and I see it's benifet...but some who enjoy the forums have met many we consider our friends...to have a small limit of three to select from is daunting and we do not want any of our other friends to "feel slighted " if we choose someone else over them.
one thing I thought of is do not set a limit on any number you can add. ? | |

The main reason for the addition is to show people that you are a real person.
But what happens if none of my friends are on PoF? It doesn't mean I'm not a real person, that I'm married, etc.
I could always create a few fake accounts to make it look like I'm not along with that feature.
As some people said, limiting to 3 can be problematic if you know enough people on here. I do understand you wanting to keep the database size down though. | |
