| Your Coolest Friends Feature. Posted: 3/18/2007 2:29:25 AM | | It's a little unfair, because a lot of us don't have testimonials about ourselves. No, it's stupid, biased, and unfair... | |

| Your Coolest Friends Feature. Posted: 3/18/2007 2:49:19 AM | | I like this feature. I voted for it. I have my pof friends but then I also have my "best" friends.......People who I see on a personal basis in real life. These are the people I get drunk with lol, laugh with, cry to, and share my intimate details of my life with. I think that the intent is to show that this is not a fake profile and that the person behind this profile is a human being with a life beyond the computer. Don't get me wrong my networking from this site has grown substantially and I hope to keep meeting wonderful and new people, its just for me this "three top friends" happen to be people that I have known long before pof came into my life. | |

| Your Coolest Friends Feature. Posted: 3/18/2007 3:02:17 AM | I'm less concerned about jilting person number #4 from thinking that they aren't in my super secret squirrel club.
I am concerned that this will create a new way for stalkers to harass people on this site.
People do get stalked and threatened on this site. And when you've blocked them and reported them, they will simply go after your friends listed in your profile to try to get a reaction out of you.
But as mentioned earlier, we would all be amiss if we didn't say thanks to our hosts. So to whomever runs this site, thank you.

| Your Coolest Friends Feature. Posted: 3/18/2007 3:04:17 AM | | I don't want to list my friends on my profile. I often look at who has contacted them (my friends) when I am at their house and they do the same at mine. Too often we have the same men telling us the same story, while telling each of us we are the only one they are talking with at the time. It is a nice little reality check, that these guys DON'T know that we know each other. | |
|
| Your Coolest Friends Feature. Posted: 3/18/2007 3:08:57 AM | Hmmm.......... seems like another looser list like "No Emails", so now we will know who has not received any emails and who has no friends.
Funny thing is that I don't have any single guy friends period. Not on POF and not in real life. All my best friends are women. Oh I just wondered... If I had some of my bi or gay friends join under WSW could I add them to my best friends list? Is it only WSM that I can't add?
So, couple that with the fact that I rarely communicate with my RL friends with POF mail (I prefer the phone or face-to-face mostly) I guess I will show up on both lists.
Now, for weeding out the players, jerks, illiterates who can't (or won't) read a profile, take "not interested" as meaning "pick a time and a place", etc.. a more useful and simpler feature would be:
"This user appears on 237 member's blocked lists."

I'm not sure. But that wasn't an option for voting. The problem I see is that I'm on something like 122 favorites lists and choosing the 3 is really hard. And I already know someones gonna get their feelers hurt. I would if I went to someones profile I was chatting with and I wasn't one of their 3 friends! Ooooh, that sucks. Now I'm sure. Hate it! Maybe if I could have 8 friends or something.....

PS on a slightly unrelated topic -- Can I have my 'fish personality' (sometimes a 'feature' really is pointless no?) literally say "NO PERSONALITY" on the profile? - I really think that should be an option, since it is apparently what your implying in the settings! (what no 'Darwin fish' either? what about FSM for the religion etc?) Markus I would like to suggest a "fish personality" too please. How about MICRO PHYSH for all the computer nerd types. I think it would be cool.

| Your Coolest Friends Feature. Posted: 3/18/2007 6:30:35 AM | Don't know what to think about this new feature. It may be a good way to make the experience of people new to this site weaker then ever.
To separate people into groups of who has friends online and who does not, how will this stop any of the abuse that this site gets blamed for? It seems that this is a great feature for manipulators and players. It gives them a new category to lie in. They can fudge it while the real honest people do not. The new friends feature may also help to identify how isolated people are, and therefore who would make an easier victim.
The social activity of a potential partner has to be seen firsthand, it cannot be a prepared answer to a standard question, or the result of a deal between friends.
The internet can do a lot of things, but if you don't know it's limits......

| Your Coolest Friends Feature. Posted: 3/18/2007 6:46:29 AM | | It seems there is a problem for people with mega-favs and the size of the dropdown. Since it is sorted alphabetically, this could start a trend with people using AAA or ACME to lead off their screen names. | |

this seems like a really good idea, ebay has similar indicators of discontent

| Your Coolest Friends Feature. Posted: 3/18/2007 7:41:43 AM | I look at it this way, it's there to be used if you want to use it. If you don't like it don't use it. I've only been in the forums about 6 times in the last year for some of the reasons mentioned above. Basically I'm not that interested in forums but heaps of people are so maybe I'm the one out of whack here.
Also your efforts with this site should be commended. I doubt anyone will argue about that.

absolutely!! That would sort the wheat from the chaff. LOL
OT. my testimonials ARE my friends list...so no need for it.

| Your Friends Feature. Posted: 3/18/2007 9:39:03 AM | | I'm a little confused. I have a friend in Toronto that I've known for 9 yrs. he's on my favs list....but I can't put him as my friend. why is that? | |

| Your Friends Feature. Posted: 3/18/2007 9:47:11 AM | Starting your screen name with a * or ~ also gains you a spot at the top of the dropdown.
Here is an idea. Since many (myself included) would never pick a top friend.. ;)... Take the selection control away from the user. Have it automatically display the last 3 favorites you emailed. Really blow the lid off this place. And what a conversation starter!

| Your Friends Feature. Posted: 3/18/2007 9:53:16 AM | | ^ While that sounds good, there are a lot of us who E-mail people and don't get replies. The last 3 people I've emailed don't necessarily know me. It'd be like going into a bar, walking up to 3 women at random, and saying, "Hey, can you go over there and tell that girl that I'm awesome?"... that might not work so well. | |

I sure don't want to pic 3 of my friends as "best". They're all the best in their own way. ;)
Yep, I have more than 3 friends on here. What, would I have to keep changing it every week so as not to leave anyone out? lol
I would not use and don't see this feature as a "dating" feature.
|
| Your Coolest Friends Feature. Posted: 3/18/2007 11:14:02 AM | | i thinkits a good idea...lots of other sites have it where you can see people's friends list...and you can even select who shows on that list...I would love to be able to show more of my friends....maybe not all though...so if we could select who would show and who wouldnt...that way doesnt turn into a favorite friends war....plus i found the 3 at the bottom on my profile looks a little anemic...would be nice to see as a real person my friends list is varied and larger than 3 | |
|
| Your Friends Feature. Posted: 3/18/2007 11:36:46 AM | | if you are a person like me whoe generally gets along better with members of the opposite sex then this feture is pointless.. i really don't like it! | |
|
| Your Friends Feature. Posted: 3/18/2007 11:44:24 AM | | what about an e.b.a.y like rating/feedback system, if you succesfully swap oooh say 10 messages back and forth with a member without the other person verbally abusing you or upsetting you, then you can give them a rating : postive/neutral/negative??. | |
|
| Your Friends Feature. Posted: 3/18/2007 11:51:03 AM | | This isn't junior high. Why would/should we list who our favorite friends are? | |
|
| Your Friends Feature. Posted: 3/18/2007 12:17:01 PM | | I dont like it only because there is no way to choose who you want, just who put you down as a fave.... I think thats stupid! | |
|
| Your Friends Feature. Posted: 3/18/2007 12:38:22 PM | i think i t is great.....might narrow down the ones that aren't into being honest and ARE still into these childish games !!!!!!!!!! | |

| Your Friends Feature. Posted: 3/18/2007 12:55:00 PM | To address the suggestion about putting the number of people someone has been blocked by can backfire.
It has just been discussed elsewhere in the forum that there are people who automatically block the people who contact them that they're not interested in just for general purposes. Also it's been posted here by both genders all seem to be going well in communications and all of a sudden they find themselves blocked, so IMO it's not a good idea.
As for the friends feature well I don't think I'll use it.
