"I personally have no interest in a woman who is older, granny love isnt for me. There are too many women out there to have to settle. To each their own."

Oh pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee you couldn't keep up with me and gardennut if you had years of supply of the blue pill. What you said to her was rude, crude and down right mean and hateful. I dont' appreciate it and I think you owe her an apology. She is one of the most sweetest souls I know here. With your attitude, I am sure you will go far in life. At least playboy pin-ups are cheap !!!! Have fun :) :) :) :)

maturity is important,i know people in an older age bracket that act like teenagers,it depends on the person and i have mostly dated older women but for me it wasnt the age it was the fact that the treated me the way they wanted to be treated and i will always respect women for that but most older women look at my age as the determining factor without even getting to know me as a person, its almost an instant strike against me for being in my late thirtys,im not jailbait anymore.

Has anyone had to deal with getting lots of mail
from someone way younger?

As long as they are no more than three years younger than me, I have no problems. I just could never be with anyone younger than my brother. That would feel too weird.

I can see that this is an old posting, but I still have the problem this lady commented on, and I still haven't found a good reason so far! Anyone got any more ideas? I have shoes older than some of these guys....lol where are all the young-feeling guys closer to my age? ones with positive attitudes and a good sense of humor? would be wonderful to meet one (oh, and intelligence would be a real plus too!).

age is just a number....and if two people are totally happy, then who gives a rats ass about age? I've dated older and younger (20 years in each direction) and the younger ones seem to have more class and manners...the older ones think that they're gods gift to women

ok...not all men are like that...just the ones i've had the misfortune to deal with

To each his/her own.......................eveyrone has reasons for what they CHOOSE to do in their lives...so who are we to judge.
Personnally I don't understand the problem( the You I use here is for NO ONE inparticular)
If you don't want mail from someone younger, married what ever. and you don't want their attention then let them know, if that doesn't work Block them and move on.And don't check out their profiles.as that only encourages them................I have no problem with a SINCERE younger man..............prefer these guys to alot of other types out there...........

I do get quite a bit. Apparently 29-year-olds think I'm pretty darned hot! Way hotter than the men my age think I am anyway. Some are wanting sex and say so. Others are probably trying to see what'll happen if..... And others, just like the regular cross-section of men, well, I don't know what they want.

I've made a couple of friends with the younger fellas. They're men, too, and are usually pretty thoughtful and sweet.

OK, this is my own serious perspective for MYSELF, so start yawning now and don't get all bent out of shape for how I live.
I'm 53 and don't look at all like I live next to the beer tap.
I get frequent emails from young ladies in their 20s, early 30s, and even on occasion some 18 and 19 year olds. While it is a bit flattering, I have to think somebody wants to get married long enough to aquire half of what I have if they divorce me. So for self preservation, I don't even give them a second thought, no matter how beautiful they might be.
I'm a real fun person to be around as I love to make people laugh and smile, but when it comes to the age of a woman I would go out with I consider ones that are maybe 5 years younger and about 3 to 4 years older. These are not hard and fast figures because we're all individuals. There are some people who look older in their 40s than some of those in their early 60s.
What I've weighed out for myself is this; I call it the *wrinkle rate factor.* I want to wrinkle at the same rate of the person I will spend the rest of my life with. That way, I won't become so non-appealing to her as she won't to me.
There are health issues that I also consider. More often than not, with age we are more susceptible to more health issues. I'd hope that we stay healthy forever and just not wake up the next morning when it's time to leave here. In the real world it doesn't happen that way so I feel it's important to keep up with one another.
I also like to relate to things that happened in 1963 for instance when somebody else can also relate to what happened then in the same way.
Enter in my kids .... I have one at 27 and another at 21. I'm one of the people that just couldn't bring myself to being with somebody the age of my kids..
Then there are family events. I like to have somebody near my age so they can relate well with my siblings and their spouses.
All of this reasoning for myself, because my desire is to meet that person to share the rest of my life with, not just for a few months of passion.

Yes, we get bombarded. And yes....most are only looking for sex.
I don't think it's necessarily disrespectful, though. If they're nice when they approach you, there's no harm since there are plenty of women who only date younger men.

They are fantasy...cause most of them are going through mid life crisis. Better to get them a few years before it happens.

Hey, yeah I get quite a lot of mail from much younger men too, I don't have kids, so I don't have to worry about the guys being younger than the kids issue, but you women that do have them, the thought of being with someone your kids age... yep thats creepy Some of the youngens that message me are hot so basically I just take it as a compliment. And it seems most men my age, want someone younger I'm not THAT freaking old... anyway men will men, and this is online dating, got to expect all sorts. I'm still trying to believe there are good ones out there...

I can see this topic is still generating interest since this thread has been active for over two years. Cwgrlboots on 1/20/2007 posted an MSMBC article regarding the older woman/younger man relationships. Thanks so much for sharing and posting it. For those who are not understanding the whole concept, this article backs up what I've been explaining for years...

I appreciated the fact that some common myths were addressed in the article.

Here's an interesting article I came across: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3679116/

Women of my generation tend to be very short-sighted and superficial. Older women have already been through that phase and are finally looking for the finer things in life.

That's my reason. My ex was in her early 40's, and the woman I dated when 18 was 35. The sad thing is that many older women have enjoyed my company and we really got along and had several dates, but as soon as they found out how old I was, they just stopped calling, stopped E-Mailing, the whole nine yards.

Alot of younger guys go for older women for the same reason younger girls go for older men. They're looking for financial security, which I think is the WRONG reason to go after someone. Oh, and some guys are subconsciously looking for a mother figure. Guys who've had rough times with their own mother.

However, I can honestly say that my reasons are quite different. If women from my generation were generally more open-minded and emotionally stable, I might not've been in those past relationships.

I've met one person from my generation, someone I met from POF and amcurrently talking with, who is the rare exception to the rule. Still, I cannot honestly say that I wouldn't be attracted to a warm, level-headed woman if I was to meet one, whether she was 18 or 41.

I'm a younger that just happens to be attracted to older women. I find them more physically attractive, they know what they want and aren't into the head games that girls my age seem to thrive off. Unfortunately the only older women that seem to be interested me are the leathery-skinned cougs that prowl at the local bars lol they can be scary.

I have no problem with dating younger guys, as long as the age isn't more than 10 years younger. I am 40 so for me, the guy could not be younger than 30.
I have received a lot of im's from 22 year olds. This is so funny to me. I have jeans that are older than these guys. Not to mention that my oldest daughter is 19 and in college and my youngest is 16 and in high school. This kind of situation would just be too out there for me and for my kids. lol
I just want a nice guy close to my age =)
Just my opinion.

It's true though, I swear that some of them go tanning like it's their job! You guys all know what I'm talking about.... the cougars with the fake tan, big hair, questionable makeup, skanked-up clothes and let's not forget that heinous smokers voice. THAT is what I attract lol.

^^^ at the leathery-skinned cougs remark. I don't ever approach young men your age and thank goodness I don't! lol The reason they're checking me out is that they're probably chatting about the leathery skinned cougs over there. lol I have to tell my daughters about this. I'm a leathery skinned coug. lol Thanks, really, that's funny as h*ell!
