| Older Women and Younger men Posted: 8/3/2007 12:53:43 PM | I'm attracted to younger men physically. I've always dated guys a few years younger than me but to me, age is just a number. I don't look my age, don't act my age and prefer the company of younger men.
My last boyfriend was 3 years younger and my soon-to-be boyfriend is 5 years younger. He looks 10 years younger than he is, so I feel extremely naughty :)

| Older Women and Younger men Posted: 8/5/2007 10:07:20 AM | I love younger men and have had great relationships with some as much as 20 years younger than me. At first, I was somewhat taken aback by what I presumed was just a bid to get laid, but what I found was that many just wanted to talk...about everything under the sun, not just sex. I've been consulted on career decisions, new girlfriends, family problems, lifestyle choices and what makes a good relationship work. But I have also been asked about some sexual things that these guys would be afraid to talk to someone their own age about because they might appear too kinky. It still baffles me but there are a lot of younger men who really want to be with someone older.
Although I have looked hard at these relationships, these guys are not weird or "momma's boys". Most are far more mature than their biological age and they just can't handle women their own age as they find them too shallow, too uptight and often far more interested in their paycheque than in them. They like mature women who seem to them to be more accepting of them as a person. These women already have their own stuff and they don't need to have him shower them with gifts although many do as there is no pressure to do so.
These are guys who don't want to spend their time hanging out in clubs looking for someone their own age. Many have a definite idea of where they want to go in life and they are looking for someone who understands that they would rather go to a museum or a play than get s**tfaced every weekend. Many I have talked to have no interest in procreation and it's hard to get trapped by someone who either already has kids or has no interest in having any, given her age.
Everyone is different and that is what makes life so interesting. Just because their interests are different than yours does not make them weird, strange or anything like it. None of these people are trying to convert you to their way of thinking, nor do they expect to have you trying to convert them either. I say...live and let live.

| Older Women and Younger men Posted: 8/5/2007 1:22:22 PM | I hear you! I even put in my tagline "cougar bait need not apply" but I get lots of nice young looking men responding. Why does this happen?
I think it is just that we exude a confidence now .. a sexiness as we mature and society is allowing us to both feel that way and for it to be recognized and accepted by younger men. I think there is also for younger guys an ego boost if he can "please" an older woman as she is experienced and knows what she likes.
I personally am not comfortable with the idea of sleeping with somone who could biologically be my son (in terms of age anyway). I also prefer someone who is experienced in the bedroom and is confident but not arrogent. I am not into pulling out the training manual. But each to their own right?
Maybe add a note in your profile saying "please don't contact me if you are under the age of.... " not that anyone will read it but at least you can always cut and paste and it is an easy, nice way to say "no thanks"

| Older Women and Younger men Posted: 8/5/2007 1:45:34 PM | OP I had a LTR with a man 15 years younger. Email can be deleted or if you are not interested, a polite sentence saying so. Feel flattered | |

| Older Women and Younger men Posted: 8/5/2007 1:57:59 PM | Funny...in that most of my close friends are younger than I am. I have been in a relationship with a man a few years older, and in a relationship with one way younger than I. Maybe I am immature for my age..????
Always thought compatibility was more about the mind and body than actual chronology..but what do I know? Depends on the person and circumstances.
Oddly enough, since I started back in the "dating world" MOST of the men who have contacted me have been younger and some MUCH younger.
It sometimes seems the men closer to my age seem to be more interested in the younger women.I say this because of several emails I received stating that they "don't usually approach my age group because we are usually so sedate..." Yeah. Sure. And checking profile age restrictions on various dating sites...soooo many men in their 50's have 30-45 age restrictions. (Doesn't seem as common on POF tho.) Well..I enjoy being challenged, and like people who enjoy life and themselves..their age is not that important.
(Well...OK...younger than my sons might have to be just friends first..hehheh!) Least have to know who Aretha is...ya know?

| Older Women and Younger men Posted: 8/15/2007 6:34:56 AM | | I get a lot of response from younger men. I have no problem with it, I've dated a few. The last one was 7 years older than my daughter. She just said, you go mom! He just wasn't right for me. Very nice guy, but not up to the maturity level that I would like. I was with one guy (briefly) younger than that, and he seemed a lot more mature. The comment most younger men make to me, is that older women know what they want. Excuse me, no we don't! I haven't a clue! I think they really just want someone more experienced in SEX. Nothing wrong with that in my book. I have also dated men closer to my age, 3 to 5 years younger and have a better comfort level there. I have never dated anyone older than me, not since high school. | |

| Older Women and Younger men Posted: 8/15/2007 7:21:17 PM | Sometimes guys get tired of talking to girls their own age. They need a break from it. I think the attraction is somewhat parallel to how you see a 20 something girl willing to talk with an older guy.
Older women are confident, emotionally stable, secure in their life, more mature. They can be easier to talk too at times. They tend to manage their time better and are more available to talk on the phone, spend time having fun, etc. While their is good chance that an attractive 20 something girl plays a lot of games, isn't sure what she wants, can't make decisions, doesn't have a solid direction or commitment set in her life yet, is a busy-bee that can't make time to socialise and build relationships with new people, etc.
So in closing, it can be kind of a good breather to see someone a little older. For some guys its just for friends, but of course you have them sly weasels that are looking for sex, dirtier stuff, etc.

| Older women-Younger men Posted: 8/20/2007 3:30:37 PM | I can relate. 80% of the e-mails I get are from men in their 20s. The problem with that is that there is NO WAY anyone is going to convince me that they are really interested in a long term relationship/marriage with me. It is more likely that they think I'm older and desperate and will have sex with them.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I sincerely doubt it.

That's how I feel. I had someone very persistent asking me out. I'd told him "no" six months earlier mostly because he was way young, and he contacted me again and I said no again. So okay fine. I eventually go out with him and after the 3rd or maybe the 4th date he's texting me telling me he wants to commit but we're going to have to sleep together before he can decide that for sure.
*laughing*
"Yeah sure, Sugar. I'll get right on that." Aside from the fact that he brought nothing to the dates but his hot little self and a few expectations, he didn't offer to pay for the cab when I'd paid for it to my party (where he was wined and dined no charge all night), bought him drinks prior to leaving and then we were taking the cab back I was pulling out my wallet again... And then after asking me out for New Years Eve, hadn't made any plans when I returned from out of town.
Yeah I can see exactly what he thought he was getting.

| Older Women and Younger men Posted: 8/24/2007 5:16:50 PM | | Hello, I am a 40 yr old male who has found dating older women is better. I find that older women are more tuned into life then younger women and appreciate the fact that their age is not bothering them. As a younger man dating older I have found older women feel more alive and more secure than a younger women who is worried about their hair and make up. I also find a older women is more active in bed and tends to want more time then the usual hit and run deal. You decide for yourself who and what age is best for you....... | |

| Older Women and Younger men Posted: 8/24/2007 5:19:17 PM | I have gotten ALOT of mail from younger men too, MOST with, like you said, one thing on their mind, but some just to chat...but am sure the end result would be the same.
LOL | |

| Older Women and Younger men Posted: 8/24/2007 5:45:51 PM | Devil Woman,
I too have the same situation and perhaps you are right as to the reason's young men seek us out but have you considered it might be for several other reason's. They might think we can teach them a thing or two (we can, no doubt). Maybe, they think we are lower maintanance than a young woman is. (We are) For instance, we don't ask them out of the blue, "What are you thinking about?" We don't give a damn what they are thinking about. He's probabley thinking, "Wish I had a beer" or "Why the hell doesn't she shut up and go to sleep?"
Anyway, I don't see it as a problem. No one has a gun to our heads saying we must reply to their emails. Let them have their little fantasy.

| Older Women and Younger men Posted: 8/30/2007 8:00:26 PM | Oh dear, I wish you wouldn't conclude all young men think that way. There are some, like me, who really just want a relationship (discrete or overtly) with an older woman. If sex is on your mind, then by all means, let's go. lol. I am a highly-sexual person...I find that older women have fuller breasts and more elegantly defined body than younger women. Its like when a woman reaches 30-45 yrs, she is at the epitome of her sexiness. (My opinion). And then stories of lucky young guys around 19-22 yrs old getting it freaky with 30+ yrs olds makes meeting an older woman more like a fantasy. (Once again, my opinion). I dream all the time of going to a class with a busty, beautiful teacher and she's single and constantly horny. lol. Or being home and the neighbor is single and lonely and she comes over or she invites me over to her place and we get it on. I mean, if that ever happens, I think I've lived a good life...no need for POF or other dating websites...I'll be content with what's around my vicinity. lol. Shoot, I might have more time to do homework and study for tests and exams...instead of spending hours on IMs and dating websites.
Sometimes I wish older women didn't care about age and just went out with people who are capable of making them happy and can treat them constantly with respect and kindness...like me.

| Older women-Younger men Posted: 8/30/2007 8:31:20 PM | Thats messed up. That guy was obviously using you for your resources...which you've worked hard for. I'm actually quite different. I usually make the first move to pay for everything...you'd have to beg me to pay for something. The sad thing is: I'm doing this and I be broke sometimes. Like I may have a date in a couple days from now...and I intend to pay for everything...or as much as I can with $45 in my bank acct. I get paid big time this weekend, but the date might be before I get paid. And I don't ask for sex...if you don't want it or don't ask, I won't do it. When it comes to that, I'll let you make the first move or suggestions...or nudges or readable signs. lol. I really, really, really like this one woman on POF and she keeps ignoring me. I've sent lengthy messages, flowers, chocalate, and a be mine rose...and still she's ignored me. Yet however, she views my page every day and she's put me in favorites! lol. Should I continue or give up, be nice, and leave her alone? :) hehe, anyway. Yeah, just don't generalize and categorize all young men in the same grouping, cuz we're all different and unique and some of us really care about women and have deep respect and love for women.

| Older women-Younger men Posted: 8/30/2007 8:54:23 PM | Ummm...Richard. Need to post in "ask women" section...OK? What does paying, or not, have to do with..."Older women-Younger men"??? By the way....Sending countless messages, virtual stuff, and receiving zero responses? Um...STOP!
And .... JEEZ!
Now back to the topic. OLDER women..well, I think I AM one. I would enjoy, and I yearn for, a REAL relationship...that daily companionable thing...and I do NOT care about the age, the chronology, of my partner. Just the fun times, the laughter, the sex, the learning and growing together, the ADVENTURE. If I am older, so what. And...If he is, so what..it's all about the melding of two personalities. Bottom line. Age be damned.
