I have found that shorter profiles get lots of responses while longer ones get fewer. I prefer fewer because I would rather have two great responses than 100 that are meaningless.
And for those of you who do this... remove that "my friends say I am..." who cares what your friends say? Do we really think our friends are gonna say "She's a bit@h" or "He's a jackass when he's dead dog tired!" (LOL Actually, mine would tell you that... but then, again, that's why I don't quote my friends! - I digress) The point being, who do YOU say you are?
Oh... and ladies, remove the description "generous" from your description of who you are looking for. Every man I know gets suspicious when we read that. | |

Let us take a look at the "writer's" post here. These errors are not my opinion, they are brought to us courtesy of Microsoft word. I will highlight them just to make sure the emphasis is clearly understood:
you both live near by each other..
(Note the lack of a capital letter at the start of the sentence and two periods. The rule is three periods or one, not two.)
and just so you know I have had hundreds of dates ..In the last 5 yrs.
so I can get a date
(Starting a sentence with the word "and" is grammatically incorrect. Capitalization is an issue again, and the second sentence has no period. Ugh.)
The problem is deeper then that...finding a keeper..some werent right for me
some I wasnt right for..when you date like this you dont always get a clear picture of who the other person really is..but you dont have to get serious with whomever you meet either.
(Four misspellings in one sentence? How can a writer never know about spell check?)
keeping everything in its oroper perspective..is the key.
(Caps issue AGAIN. The word "oroper" does not exist--in fact, MS Word cannot even provide the "proper" word when you run spell check, "oroper" is spelled so badly.)

change heading
"LOOKING FOR A SHORT AND SWEET GIRL"
(Funny, she said avoid all caps just a few posts ago.)
REALLY NICE SINCERE MAN LOOKING FOR A SERIOUS RELATIONSHIP
WITH A CARING LADY..
(Other than the two periods and the ALL CAPS YELLING AT YOU there is nothing really wrong with this sentence, except that it is incredibly trite.)
i MAY NOT BE 6 FT TALL BUT MY HEART AND AND COMPASSION
SOAR WAY ABOVE THE OTHERS. (Is she trying to really emphasize compassion by putting TWO "ands" in front of it?)
GET TO KNOW ME YOU WILL LOVE ME..
(A truly unique phrase there...sure to win this person many hearts.)

Posted: 3/21/2007 10:04:20 PM | As someone who now just posts here for the heck of it, someone who did not need hundreds of dates to find a match (if you say you have had hundreds of dates in 5 years, you are someone who has many first dates and not a lot of second dates--meaning your great profile is attracting all the wrong people), I would love to throw out some pointers for people who feel they need help in this area. I will stay general, so you can make your profile your own:
First and foremost, have a good picture. Make it clear, make it center on your face, and make sure you look good in the picture. Dress well, be well-groomed, and smile! You can have a half dozen photos of yourself playing in a mud hole if you want, but make sure that first impression tells.
Second, avoid the cliche:
I love long walks on the beach.
I am comfortable in jeans or a tux.
I like to go out and have quiet evenings at home.
I like to laugh.
Must love dogs.
Blah blah blah...
If you read 5 profiles, and see the same phrases in 3 of them, you should avoid those phrases at all costs.
Make sure the grammar and spelling is correct in all of your works. Using a spelling and grammar checker will make you sound smarter and that helps attract others to you.
Lastly, do not leave your profile static, especially if you are not getting a lot of responses. Change the wording of your profile, get another picture out there, list new activities, and, if you have to, delete the profile and start over.
If you look at my profile, you will find information found in few other profiles, if any. UI did this for instructional purposes only. I have another profile out there that generates a TON of responses, and the words must do the trick because I am not a good looking guy.
Do not say what you think others would want to hear. Type from your heart.

re: mr what ever his name is thats diss ing me...he obviously wants my job LOL
and he is welcome to it ..personally I have been jammed up with replies IN my personal email (on here) from nice people asking for help, and if he thinks he can do a better job answering all of this mail, well he should go for it..
Personally I think he is just another looser without even a picture posted who cant get a date ! YOU SHOULD READ HIS PROFILE...LOL, just trying to pick on me for doing something he would like to do but hasnt the brains to do it.
I may not be the greatest speller but MY HEARTS IN THE RIGHT PLACE AND DO NOT WISH ANYONE ON HERE ANY ILL WILL.
In the end all of you can decide who's help you want, it is your choice.
