So .... who has the ability to bring what?
Firewood - Food - Activities - Crafts... All areas need addressed before the trip!
I know Mikeyohio went down and looked at the site and said it was great, so........ We should have a blast!

| Calling All Ohio PoF'ers *Camp Outing Hocking Hills* June 15th - June 17th Posted: 4/4/2007 2:18:11 PM | I checked out the group camping area yesterday and it is perfect for what we need! The 4 areas are in a row on a ridge with a shelter house that is well lit. There are plenty of tables there as well as water and electric (one double outlet). There is plenty of fire rings but no grills.
There was signs concerning "moving" firewood from other locations, apparently because of the ash beetle. If we can get free firewood from the lumber yard someone mentioned, that would be great. I'll volunteer for the firewood detail. Though I had planned to ride the bike down, if nobody has a truck we can use then I can bring mine to haul the firewood. Firewood at the camp store is almost 4.oo for a small bundle. Ice is reasonably priced at 1.36 for a 7 pound bag.
At the entrance to the group area there is a swimming pool and just over the hill is a lake if anyone wants to go fishing. The shower house/laundry is just beyond the pool.
Remember, check in is at 3pm on Friday (or when you can get there) and check out is at 1pm on Sunday.
Someone mentioned having a karaoke machine. Please contact either Amy or I if you can bring it. We have the perfect place to set it up.
I am looking forward to our camping trip. It will be a fantastic weekend!!!

| Calling All Ohio PoF'ers *Camp Outing Hocking Hills* June 15th - June 17th Posted: 4/4/2007 2:38:39 PM | Mikey, I have a trailer load of scrap rough sawn oak that burns long and hot. The wood that they sell down there is pine, and we'll spend a fortune on it. I may just smuggle some down there anyway. I have a small truck and can haul firewood if needed for your detail. It's a sad thing to see a man without his bike.
I'm going to ask for the 15th off, so that I can get down there early enough to help set up. There is nothing worse than trying to pitch a tent at night! I would be available to assist wherever needed once I arrive at the campsite.
Also.......I have an extra cooler that someone can use, if they don't have one. Just let me know a few weeks before the camping date, and I will bring it to a POF event with me. That way you can pack your food, medications, or your drinks ahead of time, and not at the campsite.
I'm looking forward to a great weekend!

| Calling All Ohio PoF'ers *Camp Outing Hocking Hills* June 15th - June 17th Posted: 4/4/2007 2:47:46 PM | OH BOY!!!! I can't believe I am doing this!!!!!
Anyway....it isn't an activity that involves children but I can do a Progressive Euchre tournament if anyone is interested (We can do it for free or pay $3 per person and divide the winings amongst 1st, 2nd, 3rd ....and of course THE booby prize).
Let me know what you think!!!
I can help in any way.....I am a great leader but I can also follow!!!!

Darn......all we have for the CornHole winners at Puckers is a trophy and free pizza.
Seriously though, there is plenty of tables both inside and outside the shelter for card or board games.
Vince, is there enough wood to feed a good sized fire for two nights? If so then we wouldn't have to make a run to the lumber yard. When I was there yesterday there was 3 fire rings put together near the shelter with several more scattered through the camping area. I can be there at check in time to help unload the wood.

| Calling All Ohio PoF'ers *Camp Outing Hocking Hills* June 15th - June 17th Posted: 4/4/2007 5:42:46 PM | | I pulled my name from the list a week ago,I have no problem renting a trailer site, I knew that I would have to do that. The reason I pulled my name? I ask how close in proximity the trailer sites are in relation to tent sites and all you could tell me was I'm responsable for the cost of my site, ok thats a givin....What about the distance? If you go back and read my question you'll see what I'm talking about. Need more info. | |

Looking at a map of the park, campsites 24-70 are the closest ones to the group area. The lower the number of the campsite (from #24), the closer you would be. If you get one of the low numbers then you will be close. It is just a short walk to the group area from there.
Kevin, when I find out from Vince how much wood he has, I'll let you know about the pallets. I can bring a saw to saw them up if needed.
Harleycwgrl, I know that Ken has some karaoke CDs. Anyone else have some they can bring?
Also, anybody with a guitar or any other instrument that wants to get together for a jam session.......You will never find a better audience.

| Calling All Ohio PoF'ers *Camp Outing Hocking Hills* June 15th - June 17th Posted: 4/5/2007 3:55:39 AM | | Good morning MikeyOhio and tbnamyjones, seems like the Wood is being taken care of, some of the "activites/crafts" are being handled, which is Great! Any ideas come across the board here yet about "FOOD"--for dinner on friday, breakfast, lunch, dinner on saturday, and breakfast on sunday and snacks for in between!? I know that this issue has been bought up a few times, was just wondering what u guys/and gals would like to do about this. Everyone bring their own/potluck, or a huge cookout for friday nite, u do u own thing for breakfast, lunch, and then dinner for saturday nite, everyone comes together as a "GROUP" and has a HUGE Cookout for saturday nite?? Just a thought!! Then to each his/her own for breakfast on sunday morning. some folks dont EAT breakfast. I myself and a HUGE eater and i eat breakfast, lunch and dinner. So, if u want, we can ask for ideas and get some thoughts about the "FOOD "and meals ideas, OK?? | |

How bout it Kathy? (I'll even say "please")
Michael since you asked so nice I will certainly try to put it together. Okay...so whos bringin what and how much..lol drop me an email and lets start a list. I wont post the list until it gets quite large but all the same..if it is anything like the bonfire detail... we will have TONS of food to go around.. A lot of women AND men like to show off cooking talents.. whadya think.. kitchen...fun...oh yeaaaaa We gotta start somewhere. Due to distance some of us are traveling I suggest we all bring our own paperplates and silverware. I do have a grate, large soup pot and some iron skillets that I would be happy to bring and share.
Kevin its sorta like Chili...but without the beans...(thank god.. ) you actually cook everything in one pot..wrap cheese chunks with biscuit dough...its awesome..an old girl scout recipe. Those that like camping out lots..have probably had it somewhere along the line.

| Calling All Ohio PoF'ers *Camp Outing Hocking Hills* June 15th - June 17th Posted: 4/5/2007 6:50:31 PM | I have enough rough sawn oak to fill up a standard truck bed. I've been gutting the house, and was surprised to see that the house was built out of Oak studs and rafters. This house was built to stay..........God bless Clintonville. The amount of oak will depend on how much more remodeling I do between now and then. When these people built this house, they must have spent a small fortune on nails. All of the cheap nails we buy nowadays will not penetrate the studs, without using a screw starter.
The detached garage has oak sill plates, studs, trusses, and trim. The original siding was aromatic cedar.
Oak firewood will depend on how much more remodeling I do from now to camp date. I can fill a standard truck bed as we speak.

| Calling All Ohio PoF'ers *Camp Outing Hocking Hills* June 15th - June 17th Posted: 4/6/2007 4:48:17 AM | So we have Corn Hole... Karoke... Cards....
How about some crafts for the kids? I know I need to locate a button/badge maker - anyone have one? (2 1/4 inch) I don't think labels will be a good idea for this trip and I know I want to be able to see peoples names when we are here!
I thought maybe on checkin everyone could make their own badge with their name to wear and then you could take it home - kids included....
Kasie - thanks for helping!!! Let me know if you need my help with that!
