I concur with you (see my msg above). Another thing.... the term 'professional' & 'intelligent' should never be self accorded. Sadly, lots of people do so.

The ability to understand rather than repeat, to a level where one can innovate and create rather than rely on out of box answers!
Intelligence doesn't come from learning - it comes from being able to apply knowledge to circumstances in a logical and precise manor with a predictable outcome!

It also helps if you are completely unfamiliar with the concept of context and have an ability to twist what others say in order to make your point.
I must admit that whenever I see people doing things like that I do marvel at their intelligence.

It is also knowing how to use emoticons to make sure that others know exactly how to feel about points raised without having to waste time forming their own opinions as to whether what was said is actually amusing or not.
I am sometimes in awe. | |

I believe that a truly intelligent person enters every disscussion with an open mind and is willing to accept that thier view may not be the only definative explanation. An intelligent individual realises that although they may labelled an 'expert', what they do know pales into insignificance when compared to what they dont and indeed to how much they want to learn. A truly intelligent person therefor is one who is self aware of their own ignorance.
but hey this is just my opinion!

One great dichotomy of modern day society is what to do with people that do not have the capacity to learn intellectual/academic things. This has been coined 'what to do with stupid?'. No progressive government has actually tried addressing this, instead they just ignore it and try and get more and more people to university.
Anyway, I digress slightly, what I am basically saying is that the statement "Pupils do not fail exams, teachers fail to teach them properly" is ludicrous. In fact, it sounds like someone trying to abdicate responsibility. My translation of the above quote comes out as "The buck stops over there!"
