| get this Alabama board going Posted: 11/26/2007 9:40:58 PM | Hello, I am new at this, but I too am from Alabama, I live in the small town of Bay Minette with nothing to do and nobody to meet, not that I have time. I joined this site cause a friend told me it was great, but I am really not getting a response from it. Not really sure about this, but since it is free guess I will try a little longer. So anyone close by down here? Really need to find some people to hang out with, getting tired of sitting home every weekend when I get a free one off. Well better get some sleep I have a huge test in the morning. Later | |

| get this Alabama board going Posted: 12/11/2007 11:25:59 AM | | I've met plenty of ladies ONLINE...seems they are afraid to get out and actually meet in person. So far I've traveled to Leeds to meet one lady. She was nice but no fireworks. I even spent the night there and we had good conversation....nothing but conversation...and I was happy with that. Is it just that the culture of women from Alabama is so untrusting, insecure, or just plain scared? Or is it just my age group? I think we need this board going and maybe we need to mention it in posts and in our PM's and emails to draw attention to it. I'm going to mention it in my profile so we MIGHT get some attention here. | |
|
| get this Alabama board going Posted: 12/11/2007 2:26:35 PM | Culture of women in Alabama does not include scared..the other two "things" you mentioned untrusting & insecure could apply to anyone I believe..not just Alabama women! ty very much.
Going to read your profile Bob & see what you have mentioned in your profile..gotta do it now.
|
| get this Alabama board going Posted: 12/11/2007 3:29:25 PM | | Sure hope you didn't take that personally! I've certainly met some who were anything but scared. But, there have been a couple who I think were simply scared to be out of their comfort zone. I just feel that if you don't take a chance then you're never going to be a winner. | |
|
| get this Alabama board going Posted: 12/12/2007 6:22:33 AM | Of course I took it personal..I am a woman that lives in Alabama..so yes I did take it personal very much!
I love this state & there are some great people here..it seemed to me that you made it personal when you said 'women in alabama"..like that was a bad thing!
Also it can be a challenge for some people outside their comfort zone..if they choose to not take a chance..then you have a choice..either have much patience,or just cut it & move on to someone better suited for you..
At least we are posting on the bama board though..

| get this Alabama board going Posted: 12/12/2007 11:08:46 AM | | Blossom...know the feeling very well. I used to post on one of the Smith Lake web sites and would get easily offended every time anyone from out of state mentioned Alabama or made fun of "US" in any way. I let it get to me when some of the time I really should have overlooked it as being just their ignorance. Like you, I take great pride in being from Alabama! As far as I am concerned it is the best place in the world and has the best people you can possibly find anywhere. I wouldn't want to be any where else! But, yes, Alabama Women, IMO, are different and that difference is what I love about them so much! | |

| get this Alabama board going Posted: 12/13/2007 5:42:29 AM | Good Morning Bob..well you know I thought I would have a reply from you this am but I guess if I had actually posted mine like I thought I did I would have one huh..lol
Anyway..if you know the feeling well of how WE are here in the south then why offend?..even if it is "easily" done?..AND,how are Alabama women different?..when you say something like that you can't just like leave!?!..you KNOW you have got to tell me what makes us(Bama women) so unique iyo.
I am not sure of Smith Lake..I am originally from Mobile/Orange Beach so I will have to google..I do know Cullman well though..very well.

Obviously, my question back to you is "why are you offended?" ..... I do belive we're getting off topic here and should start a thread on something like being offended when we are referred to as being "one of us" or "one of them".
|
| get this Alabama board going Posted: 12/13/2007 5:36:20 PM | so we are getting off topic..and?..this IS an alabama board..and I post within guidelines..but if you want to start a new thread..please do:)..I would enjoy it....oh..how about why someone would intentionally offend..instead of those that rightfully are beyond it already;) thank you so much.. ..I promise I will post on your thread.. | |
