a number of years back my gf at the time and i engaged in a 3way with a male friend. this lasted for almost 2 years. he then began a relationship with a girl. it then became a 4way for almost another 2 years. my gf and i have since split (for other reasons, not this), and i am still involved with the other couple. since then, we have "grown" to include another couple, which had now lasted for nearly a year. our gatherings average to about 6 times a year.
for us, it works, but i could understand that it may not for others. trust and understanding are so deeply entrenched in our adventure - it is utterly crucial in fact. nothing is left undiscussed prior to, during or after our evenings together. each person and respective couple need to really be honest and open about their feelings with it all and be in their "safe place" - no exceptions! i'll be honest with you, there has been much same gender stimulation through it all as well. granted, it was awkward at first, however, the discussions that ensued about it has made the awkward feelings subside. it is now just part of what we do. there is a very strong understanding that our get-togethers are about sex, not emotion, not labels, not anything but sexual pleasure. we all feel that each person is permitted to do what they wish to do, provided that the person they are doing it with is honest about if they are comfortable with it or not prior to it happening. the next morning, we all go for breakfast, talk about sports, home renovations, our children, jobs - normal people stuff.
like i said, it works for us - i do not advocate for everyone to try! you really do need to weigh out the potential hazards it may bring into your relationships with loved ones. you and your partner need to really understand what it is that you plan on getting out of it and if your relationship has the strength to survive it if it goes awry. REALLY THINK ABOUT IT CAREFULLY!! | |
