| Festivals... Posted: 5/19/2009 4:57:14 AM | Just a small local (ish), tent required, folk/blues festival for me, and a week camping/working for the RSPB, a right laff!, and a mini festival | |

| Festivals... Posted: 5/19/2009 5:31:12 AM | Highly recommends festival life to those who dont suffer from a nervous disposition or dormant agoraphobia. It is truly amazing the wide spectrum and range of different people you meet who attend these events.
I still have very fond memories of Glastonbury 98 ( A festival I believe everyone should experience once in their lifetime if able). Seeing The Wonderstuff's "supposed" last ever gig at the Phoenix festival 94 was also a special time I hold dear in my heart.
Due to varying factors the only festival I will be making a concerted effort to make it to this year will be The Gathering held in Locko park in Derbyshire. A reenactment event which is held over the August bank holiday weekend.
Open to all ages. Fun for all the family. Come and join us !

| Festivals... Posted: 5/19/2009 7:12:28 AM | Playing at the Small World festie this weekend, and the Tate festie on Monday.
The Gathering looks interesting, re-enacters are always a good laugh. What period of history does it cover?
Still want to get the Secret Garden Party, mates were performing last year, said it was like Glastonbury used to be.
Was very pissed off when i found that Edinburgh Folk Festival had stopped. Missed the Ceilidh Culture festival this year, try again next year.
There's always another gig, there's always another party...

| Festivals... Posted: 5/19/2009 9:01:37 AM | The Gathering is run by the Lorien trust and is based purely on a fantasy role playing basis ( i:e Warhammer ).
I have been attending off and on for roughly about 18 years.
Who would of thought hitting people with latex weaponry could be so much fun !

| Festivals... Posted: 6/22/2009 1:25:16 PM | For any Blues fans this is the place to be this July.
The 11th Maryport Blues Festival takes place over the weekend of July 24th, 25th & 26th July, when the small Cumbrian harbour town of Maryport will once again be alive with the best in blues music.
This year, over 40 bands and 150 individual musicians from all over the globe will be performing in the main stage marquee, in the pubs and clubs and on an outdoor stage and on the street, to thousands of visitors from all over the UK.
Headliners Jethro Tull, John Mayall, Taj Mahal and are supported by Ruby Turner and The Blues Band amongst many others.

| Festivals... Posted: 7/1/2009 9:22:51 AM | | I am just sorting out going to Global Gathering, with amongst others The Prodigy, Pendulum, Orbital, Armin van Buuren and Paul Van Dyk. Which should make for an enjoyable weekend. | |
|
| Festivals... Posted: 8/25/2009 9:04:59 AM | The weekend was wonderful, and I even got a bit of a sun tan. Orbital were absolutely fantastic, having seen them 4 times previously, this was by far their best performance. Pendulum, Armin van Buuren, Eric Prydz and Carl Cox were all great, along with a few other lesser known DJ's. Shapeshifters were ok, and The Prodigy were pretty poo. The huge downside as usual was having to queue for about 5 hours, and then have my bollocks sniffed by a police dog. | |
|
| Festivals... Posted: 8/25/2009 9:11:31 AM | The line-up sounds great but having been to Global I wouldn't go back, it's not really a festival atmosphere. Was more like a bad night's clubbing meets Blackpool pleasure beach, it was full of chavs and lager louts. It's the only festival I've seen fighting at.
My summer hasn't been quite so full on as I'd have hoped but I've still had a great time. Bloc, Sunrise, Sonic Solstice, Big Chill, Freerotaion and the Edinburgh Fringe. The highlight I think was seeing Lamb live for the first time - her voice is astounding.

| Festivals... Posted: 8/25/2009 9:26:11 AM | Indeed, there was no fighting but as you say the proliferation of chavs was rather off putting. And you could just tell from the catering for example that it was unlike other 'festivals'. There was not one 'veggie' stall, although there was a face painting stall! | |
|
| Festivals... Posted: 8/25/2009 10:35:07 AM | Would like to go to Global, maybe next year. I am going to Creamfields this weekend, hoping there are no chavvs just professional ravers.
Prodigy was amazing when I saw them at V last year and am looking forward to seeing Paul Van Dyke again.

|
| Festivals... Posted: 8/27/2009 3:38:28 PM | I went to loads of festivals when i was with my ex cos her son was into them.I can honestly say i am never going to another again. | |
|
| Festivals... Posted: 8/27/2009 4:23:37 PM | I'm a seasoned festival goer..Reading and Glastonbury plus a afew more since 92...I miss it...Reading is only up the road from me too. But hey..my town has a wee ickle festival of it's own this weekend! (Which I will probably avoid! ) | |
|
| Festivals... Posted: 8/27/2009 7:29:40 PM | Still trying to get bookings in the French and Spanish autumn festivals.
Grape harvest festies where you can spend three weeks finding out what are the best grapes by picking them, and then buy whole barrels of wine that you can lay down for bottling in springtime.
As well as the opportunity to try the cream of last year's casking.
Yum.
And lots of gigs.
Civilised. | |

I'll be at this thing.......It's really rather good, i do love a festival, especially when it doesnt involve rampaging hundreds of miles all over the country just to get there
|
| Festivals... Posted: 8/28/2009 5:03:08 AM | | I'm pretend festival-ing this weekend. Harmstock, live music, real ale and camping in the field next door. Not quite the same as Glasto, but still good fun. Lots of friends making music and laughing at the noises coming from the other tents. | |
|
| Festivals... Posted: 8/28/2009 10:32:28 AM | Me too Hula, I'll be sitting in my garden listening to the festival sounds drifting up the river, and then counting my blessings when I can go indoors for a flushing loo after ingesting the obligatory lashing of ginger beer. | |
