Oh goody simmah! Congradulations, your lotus is opening! As a supporter of bodhisattvas and a student of buddhism (but not solely) I am very happy for you.

I have a good book for you - its called " Opening the Lotus, A Woman's guide to buddhism" by Sandy bucher.

good luck and love

look up
Introduction to Buddhism - Ven. Bhikkhu Bodhi
The Theravada Tradition.
Walpola Rahula was wisely suggested with "What the Buddha taught".
You can easily find on google the original discourses of the Buddha translated from Pali into English by Oxford scholars.
Bhikkhu Bodhi is an excellent translator.
