Took an evening walk down by the riverside
Dog in tow ; he found it quite the ride
So many things came to our sight
As the sunset low; all seemed so right
Came upon the picture so perfect it seemed
Sailboats adrift in the water...that gleamed
Glistening oranges and blues in the sky
Sails slowly blowin' hardly movin' in time
Dog chasin' ducks along the rivers edge
He is so unknowing that this is their bed
Tossed in some bread for my dogs indiscretions
Ducks ate in a frenzy ; dog stared at his reflection!
Came upon a little elderly man ; fishing pole in hand
Dog wanted to go lick him on his cheeks
Ole man seemed to like it; smile was one to keep!
Gave the dog a peice of bolognae; Dog smiled heaps!
Traveled on down the riversedge with a smile
Came upon a lady with a little one beside
Holdin' his fishin' pole tightly in hand
Smile on his face could have started a Band!
I smiled as I watched them so calm and serene
Talkin' of little things little boys dream
Reminded me of days ; years ago so far away!
When I used to take my little boy there the same way!
Dog gettin' tired ; sun setting in ; Darkness is coming
I don't wanna go in
Watch as the sailboats come in to the shore
Said to myself; Gotta come back for more!
Sat on the edge of the water on a rock
Waves comin' in slowly ; out to the dark
Dog wants to stay there in the grass all the night!
I was Thankful for all of the memories that came into sight!
Beauty lives in so many things and many faces
I am so neglectful in visiting these places
As I sat by the fire last nite with a smile
I appreciate all the beauty that is within my one mile!
