I wasn't going to post but I just couldn't resist.
About 4 years ago I was on a dating site (okstupid) and was contacted by a man. We exchanged a few emails, he wanted to meet. I didn't see the point in it. It became obvious we were worlds apart. He was very philosophical.
Very intelligent and well informed when it came to things like politics, religion, literature and current affairs. Oh, and he didn't drink.
Me?
I knew the lyrics to over a million country songs.
I knew the names of every NASCAR driver, their car number and who their sponsor was AND I consumed a lot of cold beer while learning all this important information.
What in the world would we have to talk about???
We didn't meet.
Fast forward 3 months.
I join POF and the same man contacts me. After numerous emails, IM's and phone calls he convinced me to meet him.
I still wondered what we would have in common...what we would talk about???
Well, I don't remember exactly what we talked about that day but we did it for 6 hours straight.
The rest is history.
We had 3 great years of learning a lot from each other, experiencing new things and enjoying our time together.
The moral of this story:
Don't rule someone out because you think you have nothing in common. Give it a chance...you just never know. | |

I vowed not to date outside of my area (Tampa) because I was the one that ALWAYS did all the traveling (an hour plus one way). I lived in Clermont at the time. It seemed that mostly men from tampa were contacting me. I decided no more, being a single mother of two, I couldn't afford it. The funny thing is that my boyfriend now; FLYNX1965 had looked at my profile awhile back and said he was interested but that I lived too far so he never contacted me. P.S. we ended up meeting by chance in the parking lot of the hotel we were staying at getting ready to attend the Sarasota POF party and the rest is history. Now we are house hunting. No more traveling 1 hr. 45 min. one way to see each other so never say never!

I was in Sarasota when Kat met Rick, I was in Melbourne and witnessed love blossom, as well at Gigi's in Boca, a very happy couple met there. You're right Kat and Naughti, one never knows.  | |

Living life to its fullest. I have met great friends and some who tried to be friends only to get into your friends circle... i have made wonderful friends, sistas, brothers and yes I have met some losers female and male... But so be it......
jjajjaaj i was even engaged and he still looked at profiles and spoke to other women always fishing... new years he puts his tongue in the wrong mouth... Best thing he ever did. thank God.... Hey but i started to party the whole year to forget him and I am so happy I have... i met another great guy and we had fun still are friends and he showed me allot.
Now i am getting to know another great guy met at a Old Town party and i was banned from Old Town long story and he saved the day for me.. And we are in the getting to know each other. hahhahah met others that made a date with 2 for the same day another loser what can I say and more the loser the woman that went on that date... hhahhahahahha.....
But I am living the LIFE!!!! Have great friends men and woman thanks to PLENTY OF FISH... and also the great parties and the great host....
DONOT give up hope.... love is in the AIR!!!!!
And Latina is at the parties having fun and enjoying LIFE. ALWAYS!!!!!!    | |

I, too, consider myself picky...but as I said in my earlier post:
You may THINK that someone isn't right for you but until you give it a chance you will never really know.
As for wondering how long the relationships lasted? The majority of people remove their profiles when they find someone. Starting a thread would not give you an accurate idea of how many successful, long lasting relationships were formed here.
Relationships end for many reasons, doesn't mean they were bad or "failed" relationships, sometimes things just don't work out...sometimes things beyond our control happens. | |

When I am in a "good" place and happy with ME, I attract good relationships and when I am in a "not so good" place or not so happy with ME, I attract "not so good" relationships. Some people have gotten marreid and others have formed a strong relationship so don't knock it... Sometimes people just donot have it in them....

She wrote to me, after my 3 years of looking. I consider myself so lucky. I can't even comprehend how I'd find someone more compatible.
I went through everything that everyone here goes through; the unread/ deleted/ unanswered emails and messages, the "almost" connections, the interest from someone attractive and interesting that was much too far away...but in the end, patience paid off.
In life, of course, anything can happen, but I will easily say that for now...I've found "the one" for as long as she'll have me.

My relationship with the man I was with for 3 years did not FAIL. As I said...sometimes things happend beyond your control.
I am quite sure he did not mean to die.
I will ALWAYS consider it a VERY successful relationship.
APPRENTICESOUILMATE - that is a classical example of a pure ignorant statment.
The only ignorant statement I saw was yours, that he quoted...as I did.
Does it get terribly cold with icewater running through your veins?

I was just saying to someone today, the forums have such a rich diversity of people and sometimes it's hard to tell when someone's serious or joking, but this is just sad.
There are many who have yet to experience that which they desire, that which they seek, and that which they have no clue of how they will feel when they do, especially things they never saw coming.

both have a loss that i would not be able to endure....and you both are good souls
that we all can learn from....To the young lady once you experince the loss that some have
had to endure..i don't believe you will know what love is..as i see it your own agenda
is not love but an analytical disection of human condition..we all are flawed and all
are weak..but are strengths are in our hearts..given what you have wrote so far
your heart is the fartherest from what you are thinking with..and to me that is
a shame..
