Now I have this idea that women find skinny men and I mean skinny like myself extremely unattractive is that true? Thinking that I have only a 30'' waist makes all the ladies flee from a walking skeleton so I assume I'd better retire from the hunt:) give your opinions...
Dude. Only the women that find skinny men unattractive will find skinny men unattractive. Dig?
I'm going to assume we have the same body type as my waist is just over 31" and I have an inch in height on you. All I can say is this...consider yourself blessed with your physical constitution. If you're like me you can eat virtually anything you want without regard to consequence. The flip side is that you probably have to fight tooth and nail to gain ANY kind of muscle fiber. You ARE hitting the gym right?
I'll tell you what though. If I had a dollar for every time I heard "I didn't think you were my type when I first saw you" from a girl that ended up, well...liking me, I'd have a fairly fat wallet.
And that's the moral of the story. CARRY yourself like you can bench press mountains. It's the confidence you exude and most importantly the way you can DEMONSTRATE comfort in your own skin, no matter what your build, that will attract females to you.
Ask me how I know this. :)

Skinny's cute--though I'm not necessarily a fan of the malnourished look. Health is attractive. I'd have to go with this comment as well.
It is a good thing to know...that way when you ask a girl what size she wears and she spits out a 12...you know she would wear a size 31 in mens pants. My brothers have always found that very handy information to know.... Welder's Girl...you rock, that's great information! Not sure i'll need to use it to screen women but it's a great fact to share, I never really knew that one.
Also it's cool because that makes me a 23-25 by your calculations, so to the OP, no a 30 inch waist isn't a problem for me.

I learned that little tidbit of info when I put on a lot of weight (at my ex-husbands request, mind you). It got harder to find pants in womens sizes that didn't look like something my grandma would wear...it's useful for us women to know because, even at my present size (A LOT smaller then I was when I found out the 'add 19' rule) I still run across men's pants that I like (have a couple of kick ass pairs of skater pants) and so I don't have to try on 10 different sizes.
OT: I do like skinny guys...but ones that are healthy looking and are fit. Welder is 6'5, wears a 38 x 36 and weighs...oh...probably 225 right now. So, with his height and weight, he is a skinny guy, but he is built very nice. Flat stomach and all that. But it's obvious the man knows how to eat!

| skinny men Posted: 4/4/2007 8:24:24 AM | ditto for what SuzieSnakes said ... and I would be very self-conscious about dating a guy who is smaller than me. I think it affects the guy too... one guy used to joke about me getting bigger "pipes' (arms/muscles) than him -often- so clearly it must bother him a bit.
It kinda goes back to that fairytale image of the man being big & strong - to provide for and defend his family... but the fairytale image can be lost if circumstances are right...

Nah, my father had a 28 " waist when he first met my mother, and it was never a problem. So long as the guy doesn't look like he's just stepped out of a concentration camp, then I see nothing wrong with skinny men. For instance, I thought Ewan McGregor was attractive as a skinny heroin addict in Trainspotting, whereas Christian Bale looked scary in The Machinist.

| skinny men Posted: 4/6/2007 5:09:51 AM | Well my ex (whom I was with for 20 years) was a skinny guy. I actually used to buy some of his jeans in the boys section of different stores.
It is all a matter of preference, personality...the whole combination. Us women like what we like....sometimes it may be skinny...or sometimes large...just depends.
This being said...this time around I am looking more at men with a larger build (or average)...with some muscles....mmmm..muscles!

| skinny men Posted: 4/6/2007 8:37:10 AM | thanks for your all views on this subject it was quite useful though I am still quite convinced that I would feel better with a few extra pounds of flesh on me especially during the summer when my skinny legs stick out like a sore thumb though I would never unveil them in public:) Yes I go to the gym but all the food I eat goes somewhere unknown...so I am still keeping my "delicate" body shape which for a man of my age is quite unnatural that's my mere opinion.... thanks again. | |

| skinny men Posted: 4/6/2007 9:01:42 AM | Well I must say this is a rareity. I've seen this subject discussed before not only here but on yahoo answers, and the majority opinion tends to be women like bigger guys. Obviously there are some women who like skinny guys, but in general they are the "fat women" of the male sex. Women don't prefer us, but they'll live with us absent better options.
A lot of women say as long as he weighs more, but now that the average woman in the US is 165 pounds, it makes it tough on a 135 pound guy. I like curvier women personally, but what is considered skinny/average/big today has definitely changed over time. I'm a hair under 5'8 and 150-155 pounds nowadays, with a small frame, and women almost universally consider me skinny. Maybe they actually mean small framed, but they say skinny. Sometimes I wonder why I bother working out as women considered me the little skinny guy at 125 pounds, and they still consider me that. And short of steriods or major lifestyle adjustments I might be able to get fatter, but I won't get more muscular.
So yeah that's my rant on the subject, I don't fault women for liking what they like, but I do wish they'd at least get rid of this silly he has to weigh more thing out of their heads, as if that makes him more masculine or her more feminine.

| skinny men Posted: 4/6/2007 9:43:21 AM | this thread seems really funny too me. i guess there are insecurities on both sides of the issue? people who are skinny bummed that people pass them up because they are skinny without looking beyond the weight issue people who are overweight bummed that people pass them up because they are overweight without looking beyond the weight issue people too short too tall too this too that it all comes down to choices in what appeals to others and we can't always help that we don't always appeal to those we'd like to ohhh...the irony of it all

| skinny men Posted: 8/3/2007 3:26:08 PM | For me, it depends on the person. I've known men that are considered skinny, but are muscular, so that makes them more attractive. I've seen skinny men that weren't muscular that are attractive as well. I don't have a weight criteria in terms of the men I date. In general I'm attracted to slim to average men, muscles or not, but if a bigger guy has a personality I'm attracted to and a nice face, well then I'll be open to getting to know him. So, for me, it just depends, I look at the whole package.
One thing I don't like is the bald-headed guys whose head resembles a penis with ears.

| skinny men Posted: 8/3/2007 7:08:30 PM | | A skinny guy who is strong can practically levitate (sp?) and coil around me like a serpent. Makes room for some very exotic moves! Yeah! | |
|
| skinny men Posted: 8/3/2007 7:14:51 PM | | My waist size is 33. Lots of women like guys who are thin including girls who have a few extra pounds and girls who are thin. I've dated women who were smaller than me and girls who were bigger than me. I don't think it's really a problem. If you are really concerned, start going to the gym and bulk up a little bit and get to a size 31 or 32. You can do that if it is really a concern. I can't remember when I was a size 30. The lowest I remember in recent memory was a size 31. One of the guys I used to work with this tall blonde dude who was very thin had no problem attracting the girls and some were pretty good looking. | |

| skinny men Posted: 8/4/2007 2:47:42 AM | OK I'm 46 years old 5/10 and a 32" waist and on a good day 152Lbs dose that mean I'm to skinny to

| skinny men Posted: 8/4/2007 5:00:01 AM | | thats like saying men only love skinny women...each to their own but if you have a healthy appetite and stll skinny then good luck..i wish | |
|
| skinny men Posted: 8/4/2007 5:36:20 AM | My guy is tall and thin and I wouldn't trade him for anything in the world! | |
|
| skinny men Posted: 8/16/2007 3:05:25 PM | | Well I have a 30 inch waist,6ft tall and a 40 inch chest.I work out at the gym 3 times a week and because of this I'm muscular and this detracts from my waist size a little. Before attending the gym I did look and was often called "skinny "but no one does now! | |
|
| skinny men Posted: 9/2/2007 10:05:32 PM | Had to say that I dont mind skinny guys if they are taller than me because I still want to feel feminine. Not that fussy about someones body though because its all about how he makes me feel when I am around him. | |
|
| skinny men Posted: 9/2/2007 10:11:17 PM | Depends on how you look being skinny... Some guys don't look that bad being thin... just as some guys don't look too bad having abit more flesh on them...
Although I probably draw the line, if a guy can wear my 23" waist jeans... haha
p/s: I've at times still thought a guy who is on the skinny side cute... so there you go.. it's all subjective.
|
| skinny men Posted: 9/2/2007 10:27:05 PM | Hmmm maybe I'm just weird... I like sickly skinny. Like meth skinny... Scott Weiland in the video 'Slither' [Velvet Revolver] ZOMG way yummy!
But eh I'm not skinny so it's doubtful I will land a sickly skinny guy hehehe.
|
| skinny men Posted: 9/2/2007 11:15:51 PM | | thats bullsh!t, women love tall and thin guys, the taller and thinner the better, most women will not even date overweight guys. | |
|
| skinny men Posted: 9/3/2007 1:42:40 AM | hmm all i will say is no skinny man would be able to handle me!!

|
| skinny men Posted: 9/3/2007 9:12:14 AM | I actually prefer guys who are athletic, not skinny, as I was married to a skinny guy and I kept trying to get more meat on his bones by feeding him. Too thin looks unhealthy and he did get cancer and nearly faded away so healthy is best.
Short men are fine if they are not skinny, otherwise I would feel as if I was dating a girl. Big guys are great if hard not flabbly and not about to drop a baby lol
|
| skinny men Posted: 9/3/2007 10:09:03 AM | | Its not really about being skinny...its more about being fit and taking good care of themselves. | |
