The song I remember the most had to do with,"Manuel the gardener..." and "Gonzo the lead guitar player..." and even a 'Bad Boy' like me cannot repeat the 'lyrics'. My encounter with Frank happened just before his death. I was sailing Newport Harbor in a tiny boat and pulled into the community dock near the "Fun Zone" on Balboa Peninsula so my SO could go pee. This guy walked up as I was trying to keep the boat from crashing on the dock from boat wakes. He said,"Aren't you Ronnie Van Zandt?" I said, "No, who the f*ck are you?" I looked at him and I was looking into the sun so all I could see was a silhouette. He said,"Well I ain't Frank Zappa!" A Duffy(electric) boat pulled up, he stepped in an sure as sh*t is WAS Frank! Swear to God! I learned of his death like less than a month later! >mak^o>

Much shorter list would be the few that AREN'T off-the-scope awesome! But, gun to my head, I'd go with "King Kong." It's one of the most compellingly sticky, Escher-esque lil' jazz riffs ever discovered - makes "Take Five" sound like "Mary Had a Little Lamb." And, hey...you get a girlfriend likes FZ, hang on 'er, pal!
I was trained as a musician (now in recovery) & very early on Frank baffled & challenged & delighted me. (Frenobulax? Dennil floss? What the ...?) The best thing about Big Z is, his stuff is infinitely durable, as listenable 25 or 30 years later as it was the day it was laid down. A true musical genious...thank you, Mr. Zappa! You left us far too soon. (Note: if you dig Zappa jazz like Wazoo, Studio Tan & Waka Jawaka , check Don Ellis, esp. 'Tears of Joy' & 'Live at Fillmore.')

How about everything from his concert movie, "Does humor belong in music?"
And the entirety of "Man from Utopia". The first 3 songs from that album were "Cocaine decisions", "Dangerous kitchen", and "Jazz discharge party hats".
There isn't a bad cut on "Apostrophe/Overnight sensations", home of Dinah Moe Humm, Zombie woof, Yellow Snow, St Alphonzo, et al.
Crap.
Now I've gotta go see one of my concert dvd's, or I'll be on a Frank jones all evening.
They sniffed every little morsel, It was Albequerque, New Mexico!
There aren't enough emoticons for Frank.
He is seriously missed.
