| Dancing Fool Posted: 4/21/2007 9:03:13 AM | | If anybody wants to go do something like a museum or such Saturday afternoon or Sunday I'm game. I've noticed that there is a place called The Florida adventure museum (not open Sunday) not far from the slip knot and the Boca Grande lighthouse park and museum probably 20 miles away. I'm open to suggestions, since I'm not from there let me know what's there to see. Canoeing or kayaking would be a fun possibility too, I'm pretty open to suggestions. | |

| Dancing Fool Posted: 4/21/2007 2:23:07 PM | HI,
Don't rush over to Boca Grande for the light house thing...unless you never saw one...as its almost an hour drive from me in Punta Gorda and have been there...it consists of pictures of old light houses.....Hmmmm The beach there is beautiful and truly blue green...and well worth the drive it also has public bathrooms and barbecue pits with shaded tables on the beach...but get there early...they just refurbished it with sand and its huge now....we go alot as family has a place there and one of my favorite hanging places....The edison house in FT muers is pretty cool if you like that stuff...and it goes way back with design and usefulness along with agriculture in trees edison brought here...in fact I believe him and ford started the palms down that road... I bet it's the 75 mile thing, that might be why Bellelynda can't email you. Even though she's less than 75 miles, Lilsweet, I notice your town is not highlighted so I think POF might not know where you are. I maybe doesn't recognize Rotunda West as a town. You might be missing mail from lots of people?
Now I'll get up on my soapbox about the 75 mile thing. In my oppinion that is the biggest mistake people make on POF. Sure we would all love to find somebody less than 75 miles away, but do we want to live the rest of our life being single because that perfect person can't email you and gives up not ever knowing if you're that one because they are 150 miles away. I'm sure most of us would surely love to meet that perfect one if they were 150 miles, or maybe even 2000 if they were perefect.
Message restrictions in general are the biggest problem. My oppinion and it's just an oppinion, but hopefully you at least think about how they can afffect you. Maybe that person of the same sex, or someone younger or older than what your looking for, knows an absolute perfect person for you, or maybe they would make your best friend ever, all of us could almost always use more friends. Think about it. I'll step down now.

| Let me in on the muisuim or Kayaking events with POF Posted: 4/21/2007 6:45:32 PM | Rich the museum would be open 10 till 3 on Saturday I think by what I found on the net, anybody know anything better about it? Kayaking is possible but again I'll need info from somebody else on where.
Buffy thanks for the info on the lighthouse. Sounds like that's along way to go for not too much.

People can meet at the Burnt Store Grille, and buy their own meal. This is just a way to get people together and meet before the party in a more quiet atmosphere. Then the party at the Slip Not where you can buy your own drinks. (unless someone offers to buy one for you.) lol
Please contact Kim Shea and let her know if you will be coming to the Burnt Store Restaurant. She’s needs to know how many seats to save at the tables.

| Port Charlotte Luau/ Get Together April 28, 2007 Posted: 4/22/2007 3:09:49 PM | | I think I am going to have the best time in a long time at this April 28th social. I am going to Phila Penna half of May and all of June. I looked up on Plenty of Fish to see if they had some great get togethers like they are having inPunta Gorda Florida. To my supprise I did not see any get togethers at all in the Phila. Pa area. I was realy dissappionted because I would be missing out on a great social get together with the POF up in the north. I did see the people's profiles but no sceduled events like we are going to have April 25th, Is Florida the only state that has monthly get togethers with POF? Another thing every once in a while I cant get on the POF web site. It tells me that the web site is having problems. Dose anybody else experience that same thing on POF? Everytime that happens I think to myself that POF is clossing shop up and I get all depressed out. But Thank the Lord and we are blessed that has not happened. (At least not yet anyway) | |

| Port Charlotte Luau/ Get Together April 28, 2007 Posted: 4/22/2007 5:25:02 PM | Rich I've been to POF events in 4 different states, some of the states don't have them yet because somebody hasn't taken the time to get them started. Last year I was a big part of getting them started in SW Florida. When you go up there just get one going, figure out a place to meet, dinner, drink and dance, seems to go over good. I tried a pool party and then bowling, the pool party at the city pool was a flop but the weather could have influenced that, the bowling was enjoyable but the dance Bar is where everybody showed up. Just start up a forum about it and then send out a number of POF mails to people that you want to see there and ask others to do the same. It could be as simple as just saying your going to meet at a certain bar and look for the table with something that stands out like ballons or flowers or first table on your left under the flag on the wall. But you probably need 10 people to say they will be there to get people to show up to see if anybody will show up. So a sign up is pretty much a necessity. You might look through all the forums in other areas and find out what's worked and what hasn't.
I immagine POF is having problem because they are too successful, they advertise that they are number one and I would believe it. There computers are probably straining to keep up. Whe you get the busy sign just refresh the page and it's always come right up the second time for me. I've seen it 3 or 4 times this last week. Nothing to worry about. I notice Goggle maps has slowwed way down, I use Yahoo now, they probably are experienceing the same thing. Success comes with problems in this world where everybody is online more and more.

| Long Distance Dating Posted: 4/22/2007 7:09:16 PM | Taxman, Long distance relationships: Some do work, some don't. One persons luck doesn't mean everybodys luck would be the same. I'm sure there are thousands of long distance couples that would dissagree with you. Also most short distance relationships don't work. That's why POF has so many poeple on it that are divorced and why it's having trouble with too much online traffic.
It's magic when a relationship does work, we all want that magic. I'll look for it wherever I may find it. That's one of the reasons I'm planning on going around the world. Some of the other reasons, I enjoy travel, challenges and sailing. It's not all about finding that magic, but I bet I do find it, at least I hope so.
A lot of luck is putting yourself in the position to have luck. It's the Texas holdem poker of life. You can be dealt aces but can be beat by 8's if they flop an 8, you just never know the outcome till the river, even then it's not over till the bets are done. Often absolutely nothing can beat aces if it's bet correctly.

| Port Charlotte Luau/ Get Together April 28, 2007 Posted: 4/23/2007 6:37:50 AM | Welcome, Ladylovefun, and all those who have signed up in the last four days, I'm sure you will enjoy meeting those who's writings you see on this forum and the quiet ones who haven't chosen to write in. Writing in on this forum to introduce yourself is one step further to having aquantances, whom you may call friends after the party on Sat Night. Joining us for dinner, is the second way. The space will be reserved, the tables will be ready and Phil, the owner of Burnt Store Grille(or Cafe) and his staff will treat you like old friends. They will Kid around with you, and Phil will even make jokes. You'll feel like you are sitting in his Kitchen at his home! Guest straggle in, as their personal schedules allow, you will choose your own seating and are served "First-come-first-serve". They offer full menu and full bar. I'm trying to come up with a tally today, for Phil, so his kitchen will be stocked and staff prepared for all of us.
If you think you may come for dinner-yet am not sure-better to sign up and the cancel than for us to not have enough tables reserved. You can post on this Forum, that you are coming so others who want to meet you will know to look for you-or you can E-mail me directly to keep your entry private.
Again, Welcome-new attendies!!
To the old crew........I've lost 5 lbs........my ribs are killing me..........and I don't want that close of a view of my toilet again for a very long, long time. I can't remember the last time I was so severely sick-upchuckin' every halfhour or less for 10hrs!!! It's worse than doing chrunches. Jerry had come home from work mid-morning Thurs. and "did the dance" for the rest of the day, started feeling better Fri., but was weak. So you can imagine how bad I felt when he had to nurse me before he was well. He's quite a man!! He's back to work this morning, and I'm following up on the last of the details for the party. Laurene, Lynda, Ron, and volunteers I'm be in touch with you today! Thanks for going on with plans, without me. I'm so glad to be back at the computer and off the Sofa!! I'll write more after reading the last two pages of Post. 5 days until Party time.................is everybody Smilin'????? Love ya'll, ..................................Kimmie

| Port Charlotte Luau/ Get Together April 28, 2007 Posted: 4/23/2007 8:17:18 AM | Hey Fran aka Ladylovefun- I hope you'll be in town for this one. It's been a long time since I've seen you. As you can see the group has gotten larger and the times have gotten even better. I can't wait to see you! I'm glad you haven't gotten to famous for us. LOL
BREAKING NEWS-once again the Boggiemen will be at Harpoon Harry's the same night of the party so we have to be sure to stop on by after the Slip Not. I saw saxman and the Boogiemen this Saturday at the Block party with some fellow POF ers. As usual they were awesome. The Boggiemen will be playing both Friday and Sat at Harpoon's.
Holiday Boy and DMAC introduced me to some friends of theirs at the Block Party and I've invided them to the POF party also, so gang I'm sure we will go well over the 100 mark for sure.

| Long Distance Relationships Posted: 4/23/2007 8:23:47 AM | Jon,
Your last post was great! A wonderful perspective on dating in general. Looking forward to your return to our group.
Jon was an organizer for the first POF party I attended and he did a great job in making everyone feel welcome. I was even inspired to host one myself, and it's not that difficult, so anyone who feels like heading up a party, just research a place and post it. Any of us can help you get it set up as a party with POF.
Ron, your strawberries got me in some trouble at the last party....thanks to Gene and his dare.

| Long Distance Relationships Posted: 4/23/2007 10:01:11 AM | Long Distance Relationships...boy can I write about that..how about one that lasted 10yrs?? Look in my ear and see if you can see thru to the other side! Had I lost my brain or was it just ment for me to live thru the adventure of it all??? I traveled through almost every state, in this beauytiful country, met some lifelong friends, and learned some lifechanging truths-about myself and why I'm on this earth. The relationship was not the lifelong road I thought it would be, yet it brought me home, e to Florida, with much more depth to my caracter-than you would have seem before the adventure started. Like a Salmon-I've swam upstream, to return to my birthplace.
MANY OF YOU HAVE CHOSEN TO COME TO FLORIDA...Welcome, from a Native Sunshine Girl!!! the fishin' is fine, and I mean FINE..............sign up for the dinner and bate your hook!! Love you all, (I'm a hugger-so feel free give me a warm hello, when we meet!)... Kimmie

I saw them Saturday afternoon at the block party & they put on a great show. The weather was a little hot in the afternoon, but made it through. Didn't see you or any of the POF regulars there. Did yougo in the afternoon or evening?
BOOGIE!...BOOGIE! | |
