| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/9/2007 3:21:41 PM | | I am responding because I had it done to me today, the deletion of a photo that represented the kid in me. It was harmless, was a great conversation starter, and sometimes a picture of a face only represents a person at face value, and to me that is very shallow. Also, some people are professionals and to show their face is difficult before an intital contact is made through an email. The fact that you can cut, copy and paste any image off this site is another reason for some to be careful. I would prefer that my photo stay on an online dating site, rather than to be collected by others without permission. Otherwise it is a great site, if you are honest and sincere in your word. | |

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/9/2007 3:26:47 PM | Well said Emeral121!! (Message #240)
I totally agreed with you right up to the point when I had a quick peek at your profile to check out where you were from and came face to face with your...uh.. lingerie pic??...eeeks!
Sent me running for sure....
Sorry, I don't mean to say anything against you, but I do sincerely believe that type of pic would tend to attract the weird fishes in mass waves...maybe it's just me.

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/9/2007 3:33:25 PM | | Then u must have also noted when reading my profile that I was approached by this man when I just had my face pic up..not lingerie..... .in regards to u running...feel free...not everything is for everybody....imagine how boring the world would be if we were all the same....lol | |
|
| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/9/2007 3:37:30 PM | Mine was deleted and it was really me....by peeve is...why are so many others allowed to be up. Females with bikini shots..no face OR BLACKED out...... we can all upload a pic...and pretend its us. It should go for ALL!!!! | |
|
| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/9/2007 3:39:42 PM | Yikes! If I show my picture, single women/clients start to go after me...either I have to go out with them or lose the business...I'm doomed! | |
|
| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/9/2007 3:39:48 PM | | i had a chest shot of me in my Red Sox jersey as a main pic...was only posted for a few days. It was suggestive, but not revealing. I also several head shots as secondary pics. Maybe if I had left the sox pic as a secondary one, it would not have got deleted. I find it a bit picky, especially when all a person had to do was click on my profile and see my head shots. Anyway, I've posted a couple of Red Sox pics that now include my head! | |

There's no rule saying you have to post a pic on your profile. I understand the concerns of people who don't want a pic. What I don't understand is why they feel the need to post non-human pics on their profile. This isn't an art museum, it's a dating site.
Yes it's true that you don't have to post a pic if you don't want to. It's also true that you don't have to respond to anyone you don't want to if you don't like their picture. If someone has a good reason for not putting their picture up, I don't see what harm there is in letting them put any picture they want, as long as it isn't offensive. I don't know of anyone who has ever had a fatal allergic reaction looking at pictures of dogs, cats, cars, or feet. If you don't have any pic whatsoever, chances are that your profile will go unnoticed. But, if you can put an imaginative pic up that grabs someones attention, isn't that what the goal is here? To get your profile noticed? To peak someones curiosity? I have seen many awesome profiles that only had humourous pics that peaked my curiosity. I had a friend who had a profile up that had no pictures of himself, just humourous pics that he took. They weren't pics off the internet, they were his pics. His write up was also hilarious, and it went with the pics. He got so much positive response from that profile it was incredible. Everyday he would get mail thanking him for brightening their day, or telling him he had the best and funniest profile they ever saw. He got more dates from that profile than I ever got from mine. And that was without showing a picture of himself on his profile. His profile eventually got deleted I assume because of the "joke pics". Heaven forbid we have a little humour on this site. I seriously don't understand why joke pics are banned. It's the stupidest rule of all I think.

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/9/2007 3:46:14 PM | | Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought the main idea of "Plenty of Fish" is that it is a dating site. In fact at the top of this screen it says "100% free dating site". That having been said . . . I didn't come here to meet a pet or a motorcycle or a freshly caught fish (there are tons of those pics) . . . I came here to meet people . . . that is first and foremost . . . therefore I believe your initial picture should be of you, a head and shoulders shot that clearly gives an idea of what you look like. Show your pets and interests in secondary shots if you like. If you really want to meet someone put your best foot forward . .YOU! | |

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/9/2007 3:52:13 PM | | I am just sick of pics getting taken down when number one there is no nudity and number two there is a head, maybe not all of it or not all fo the face but when you can see a chin and hair and somemaybe a brim from a cap, its obvious that there is a head underneath so you know its not a headless torso and yet it keeps getting deleted, people need to get a grip or this place is just going to turn into a war zone instead of a dating zone. | |

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/9/2007 3:55:39 PM | Okay, have we killed off the notion that user can delete other user's photos? 11 pages later and some of you are still saying that "Someone deleted......"
The admins "deleted" because your profile doesn't follow the guidelines.
You are all WAY too upset about this minor little thing. Just put up a face shot as your primary and you won't have a problem. And if you are afraid to have people see you on here, leave. Really simple.

But it is people with ulterior motives that are reporting...

I would like for you to read the update in my profile and would still like to know if u consider this minor....Please pay attention to the IMPORTANT NOTE section

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/9/2007 4:00:50 PM | I'm going to try and list out some pros and cons here; first let me say right up front that I had a "conversation starter" photo, and one that I felt actually says a lot more about my personality and mindset than any picture of my ugly mug. OK the stated reason was that so members who search by "photos only" don't have to look at profiles where the photo was something other than the picture of a human being, presumably the member who posted that profile. I can't believe that it is that big an imposition to simply move to the next profile in the search. But that's just me. This new requirement WILL NOT prevent anyone from posting an old,Photoshopped or totally stolen picture. Requiring a headshot as the lead photo IS unfair to members who may have a valid, real-world reason to NOT want their face on a dating site. Read that again, I said "valid, real-world reasons". Oh I guess living in an old fashioned community, or having a sensitive occupation means you shouldnt be looking to date, right? And giving members another tool to use against other members who ticked them off( you won't meet me for sex so I'm gonna report your picture) opens up a whole 'nother sack of snakes... And let me tell you some things from personal experience, I had a lot of contact from people curious or amused by my "treed truck" photo, and there have been MANY occasions when I've checked out a profile, maybe even emailed the member BECAUSE the main photo( the one that shows up in searches, "who's viewed me", and "local people who've checked their email") was interesting or unusual.( I like dogs, horses, classic cars, and the odd or humorous) But again that's just me and I have no power to change anything but I can choose to NOT rat out another member because of their photos. | Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/9/2007 4:07:19 PM | Well said Cindy
Read my post and my reasons are valid and real world.....this rule is making woman vulnerable to the few men that are sick and unstable....once again we pay the price ...and a man (Admin) made this decision
Are these people that are objecting powerless to not look or too move on...poor people...lol
|
| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/9/2007 4:12:28 PM | Hi Admin
So when are u gonna change this rule and recognize what the majority have voted for.....obviously more people state that other pics not the MAIN one should be what they want ...as long as not complete nudity....
When are u gonna respond

Is this a great site or what?

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/9/2007 4:39:02 PM | I would like to see all pictures of all clients male or female. If you have others than maybe down the road you can exchange with the other person. Be who you say you are. G | |

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/9/2007 4:41:38 PM | Personally, those cute pictures don't annoy me at all, however, a head shot for the first picture has "Always" been a rule, it's not like Administration changed it in mid stride. I read it when I joined, agreed and joined anyway. What is the problem with posting those cute pictures as your 3rd or 4th picture.
For everyone who is having a major issure with this, perhaps you should join Match.com..where it's "Free" to join and then you have to pay to contact anyone. Then maybe you can post anything you want to.
I personally have major issues with a lot of other things on this site then a head shot for my first picture. I'd like to be able to report people who chose the incorrect category for what they are looking for. Like post long-term when they are looking for a one night stand. I suppose maybe a couple of hours is "Long Term" for these people.
The POINT is this. This is a great site that we all enjoy. It's FREE and Administration works hard to go above and beyond like put on dances for special occasions and get togethers. It is "Their" site and to follow a few simple rules doesn't seem to be asking to much. Thank you "Administration" for making this a great dating site.
If you don't like it..leave and go join a paid site! Connie

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/9/2007 4:42:10 PM | | I think the reason for this site is to meet people. I for one am very tired of the games people play in not letting you see the face. I am not a ravishing beauty, but not bad looking either, but I believe in honesty in presenting who I am. What's to hide, with me you get what you see. If you don't like what you see you move on. If you are that shallow, I don't want to know you anyway, so it's for the best. But I believe in having the picture, or just don' t put one up (see how many inquirys you get, probably not many). I think the art work is fine, but I want to know who I am talking to because I am a very visual thinker. I like artistically inclined people. So, send me the art examples by email and I will enjoy them...or post them after your picture if you want them in the profile. I have used many different sites in the past years and I like the concept of having a true picture of the person on the profile. Just my 2 cents. | |

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/9/2007 4:51:51 PM | emerald121 THANK YOU for relating a PERSONAL EXPERIENCE that just about anybody could understand, as a "real world" concern about posting a picture on an internet dating site. It's OK to report problems with other PoF members to a mod. but I can see where it might get kind of old, having to report people to the police or start carrying a weapon because a local wackadoodle spotted your pic on a dating site. Of course you can meet a wack job anyplace... BUT, and some of you younger members or those who live in more urban areas may not understand that in some communities, a local woman who puts her picture up on an internet dating site is( in the community perception)tantamount to putting a red light in her window. IRONICALLY, middleaged/older women in small communities tend to choose internet dating sites because of the extremely shallow local dating pool. Even 20 miles away might be a guy that we'd never cross paths with in the context of real world life. Personally I don't have a lot of issue with putting my face on dating sites. I've had maybe one problem in 4 yrs,and that might have been partially due to MY misinterpretation. But I can sure stand behind women who HAVE had a negative experience. Cindy O | |

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/9/2007 4:53:52 PM | lovelyladylumpz2 I am sure there are some websites out there somewhere for people who want to show their boobs to the world. I don't think the intent of this website is a 'body for sale' site, but rather a dating site. Put your boobs as secondary pics so the men can open your profile and look at them. Some people are offended at showing body parts, and you are really pushing the envelope as far as possible. If you want to show your boobs to people, I have a suggestion. Go driving on a freeway, and when an 18 wheeler passes, lift your blouse and flash them. Truck drivers love it, and you get to show them.
The guy who created this site must be getting fed up with people. He is so generous to give us this site for free. Lets not abuse it, ok? geeze.

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/9/2007 4:53:55 PM | | sassyred head sorry to tell you I have got so many men respond to my profile that had my dog and my puppy pic on it.and the men responding to your lingerie pictures on here well lets just say they are not out to just date you. | |

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/9/2007 4:54:22 PM | This is a very good idea!
I don't think the girls need to show their bodies to prove that they are fit to get a man!
You don't see the men showing their bodies to snag a woman.....well, not many anyway!
Let's keep this a site for good clean fun....maybe the language will clean up too.....some have no qualms about what they say either! How about a little soap?????
Thanks Admin!

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/9/2007 4:59:02 PM | Hi Cindy
The problem here is that I did not even correspond with him ....I reported the incident to the moderator but not his profile as I did not know his name...
So that probably means he is still here....now how does that make you feel
I also have a problem with admin asking people to report on each other....sounds a bit like the Stalin/Hitler era....I for one will not report anyone...If i dont like their pic or profile then i just wont look at it.....
These people that object act as if they are being forced to view things they dont approve of......JUST DONT LOOK....

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/9/2007 5:02:58 PM | this is just getting outa hand ... look if u dont like people putting a pic of a leg then use ur heads and move to something you do like .. cant people actually think for themselves or shall we rename this site to plenty of moans and political correct.com ,
the dating or friendship thing is supposed to be fun not like a cattle market .. is it a us thing that a lot seem to have no sense of humor do we uk people thing outside the box!!! to me it should be ur choice and as long as its not rude or infringe copy right then whats the flip-pen problem!! hell who knows if any of the pics u look at are current 20 years old or even of that person so can we all grow up .. and while the owner of this site has introduced many good things i think now its getting policed and that's a downfall to a expressive and fun site.. and its going to get like all the rest BORING BORING BORING!! ive done a lot of research and keeping things care free simple and humours is the best way to keep ur clients happy .. and i have years in marketing to understand this so let people express themselves by what pics they feel are correct for them and everyone else GROW UP if u dont like the pic then move to a pic u do like .. but isn't it the profile that's supposed to be the important part or are there to many VAIN PEOPLE on this site!!! maybe we should give out fines next.. and make women stop putting cleavage shots in .. but its there choice so lets leave it that way .. they say never mess with something that ain't broken!!
