| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/9/2007 5:14:38 PM | Before the new rules came into place, I replaced my picture with a scenic photo when I am seeing somebody yet not at the stage of taking down my profile all together.
I think I have a nice picture and apparently, a few guys seem to think so too. However, I don't want to meet someone who wants to meet me solely based upon my looks. So I struggle with posting a photo at all.
When I had my photo posted, I once had a guy email me with a snotty message saying that I had a lot of nerve disabling the ability to vote on my picture. Sometimes, you can't win.
Personally, I like the scenic shots and the jokes--you can always ask the people you are chatting with to send pictures privately. Yet, if I'm asked for a photo right off the bat, I stop chatting with the guy.

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/9/2007 5:15:44 PM | I had a head and body shot with my face blocked out for personal reasons. Some of us work in sensitive areas or small towns that don't need the hastle from fellow employees about their personal likes and dislikes in their private lives. My picture was there simply because I am honest about who I am, size, figure etc. Scenery, cartoons etc personally is a waste, but showing a face isn't going to stop people from having fake profiles or posting fake pictures in any way.
All this new "rule" does, is allow those that you have told you do not wish to have contact with the opportunity to seek revenge for their rejection and nothing more.

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/9/2007 5:18:18 PM | Emerald Oh I GOT that you had never corresponded with the guy. I don't doubt that other women have had similar experiences. Yeah, I don't like this "tattletale" thing, and I won't participate in such childish behavior. I suspect it will in fact become a means for disgruntled members( rejected or a forum disagreement) to hassle others. In fact, I've already been accused of removing someone else's non headshot photo because I didn't like something she said in a forum posting. She thought I was a moderator or something...of course part of that was because her picture was changed BEFORE mine was. I wonder if the mods know that some members believe that mods will pull postings, remove pictures or delete threads because they simply didn't like what someone said? I know better, but I'm not sure but what this picture thing isn't going to reinforce that mistaken belief. Just a thought... Cindy O | |

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/9/2007 5:20:05 PM | Right on EOB
It is mostly petty people doing the reporting....they have nothing better to do....I also believe in what u say...my body pic also showed what I looked like while maintaining some privacy ....it does mean I am ashamed or ugly ...why do people assume that
I agree with you and yet admin is not listening to the majority as shown by his own poll...3 times I had my pic deleted while it was not my main
Pathetic running of a business I think

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/9/2007 5:20:33 PM | If we are going to play "I would like....", I would like photos to be mandatory, and the option to hide who you check out taken off. Level playing fields only. If you are surfing hundreds of profiles, the people you check out should know it.
As far as the "If I post a pic I will get assaulted" crap, the mental defect that would do that will stalk and prey if you post a picture in a nun's habit. It is his mental illness and your photo has nothing to do with it.
This system is allegedly for adults trying to meet someone. Not for playing anonymous games and having pissing contests.
Do you not see that the women who are on 1000 fave lists are the women who post the most revealing photos? Does that totally escape you or just not sink in? The whole photo thing has become a game.
Whether you like it or not, there HAS to be some guidelines or things get out of control. I have read every reply on this thread and most of them indicate that the poster has interpreted the rule in his/her own mind, some thinking that users have the power to remove other people's photos.
Just post a face shot first and then your herb garden, your favorite toenail, whatever. I really don;t see that it's a lot to ask that people post a photo. Whether some idiots will post fakes or not is NOT the issue. Some will, and everybody knows that. And if posting a photo rubs you the wrong way, if you are embarassed that your friends know you are on an international computer system grovelling for dates, under the HELP button you will find "Remove my account", and it's been nice not knowing you.

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/9/2007 5:22:52 PM | I am not understanding why you even put a VOTE option in you original message. The rule was already in effect from before and it had just gotten out of hand. To the women who feel they have to post almost porn on the site such as PureHeaven it is totally disgusting.Having such sexually suggestive photos allowed on here of men and women makes me think that they are pimping for money from others. Isn't that what Craigs List is for ? | |

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/9/2007 5:29:40 PM | | I just wanted to say that I think that it should be mandatory that all profiles have a face picture. I know alot of people are going to disagree with this, but really, what are you hiding?? I mean, if you TRULY are looking for a relationship and just not on here to have fun, then obviously people are going to have to see you eventually.... | |

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/9/2007 5:32:00 PM | : Seems already enough people running around "tattling" on one another
LOL No Kidding!!!
Many people (especially women) complain about not having enough time to read ALL their mail, but yet I bet you many of those people would find the time to run around here and "tattle".
It's no wonder so many can't seem to be "productive" on here.
I also have a problem with admin asking people to report on each other....sounds a bit like the Stalin/Hitler era....I for one will not report anyone...If i dont like their pic or profile then i just wont look at it.....
I for one feel the exact same way. I'd rather try and do something productive like participating in the forums or trying to make contact with others on here!
It's a form of censorship! Sooo very true. More and more people seem to want to infringe on the freedom of speech/experssion of others.

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/9/2007 5:32:25 PM | To Eastside Eddie
This was not a "IF I POST A PIC I WILL BE ASSAULTED" ....this happened because the person had SEEN my pic on here and was mentally unstable.
This DID happen.....NOT IF
You should never trivialize violence

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/9/2007 5:32:58 PM | Nah, I don't like it. I think people should be able to post any kind of picture they want unless it's commonly considered to be offensive or is a picture of a different person. I think people should be encouraged not to post pictures of children due to the possibility of exploitation and/or danger of making their images public via the internet.
My personal favorite for my profile is a cartoon amazon woman riding a dragon. Not exactly a photo of me, but in a way, at certain times, it... is.....me!
Another is a hay-laden red pickup truck...also speaks volumes....
Other times, I just feel like showing my boots.
Why not? I have boots, therefore I am.....

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/9/2007 5:34:32 PM | Techchick--it's what we are "hiding" from that's the problem. I'm on a dating site to meet just one special guy. That doesn't mean that I want all the sorts in the public domain to have access to my photo. I know that you know that there are some strange ones....
I do have a concern about revealing my identity because I live in a small town and don't necessarily want co-workers/associates knowing all the details of my private life.

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/9/2007 5:37:19 PM | Well what can I say I know the rules have a reason but sometimes can be restrictive to the point of annoyance but what can ya do? I feel if the main pic is NOT!!!! offencive and the person has a true head show of them in their public photos what does it hurt? I lost my fish pic and it is a bit of a problem for me as many know I have had problems with my acct. posting etc. and as I am very active on here and am hosting events I felt it was an easy way for people to spot me and respond with questions in that regard. But as I said there are many reasons why a rule is implemented and as I am just a little fishie in a big pond and I don't pay a penny to have more fun then any amount of money cold buy, why should I cry I do think that some of the Very Blurry head shots taken with a web cam or just blurry should be deleted also. As far a long distance away shots go, I just put them in my photoshop and enlarge them and then delete them after looking. And remember if you don't have a camera or web cam or a friend with one you could always attend a function and any number of people would be happy to take your picture and post it in the party thread or privately email a copy, I will if you see me ask. | |

I agree somewhat. It could be recommended for people to have a picture of themselves up, I wouldn't use the word mandatory, that is too strong. But pics with no face pics , or that are not the actual person, or a body part apart from the face, these pics can be taken off.
lol I guesse I just instintively just feel right of the bat to put a face pic on here.....lol all of them are face pics really. So someone can have a picture just like I have now, just show the face, and thats good enough to me. I don't think it's fair to force them into posting a full body shot as one lady did, if they do not wish to show it.

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/9/2007 5:42:10 PM | | kind of funny I had four pics on my profile and the three that were deleted had a face pic of me. That includes my main pic that had the best face shot of me. The one that is left is of a truck.lol | |
|
| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/9/2007 5:42:28 PM | | I thought the rule was put forth as 'post a face photo as your main photo'...it did not say that you had to post a photo, as that is your option to post or not to post. So what is all the 'much ado about nothing' from people who do not want to post a photo? | |

I agree with you completely techchick. Maybe it could be fixed so that those who are so worried that their wife or cohorts at work will see their picture that the picture is the 2nd or later picture and you wouldn't see it until the ad was opened. For those folks that say they live in a small town and worry that people will see your picture and say something to you, ask them why the heck they were looking on a dating site.

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/9/2007 5:46:12 PM | Thank You, THANK You, THANK YOU Admin.
I completely agree. There is one member who had only shots of her boobs. Partly clothed but still exposed. She kept showing up every day on my list, and was disgusting. Now, finally, there is at least a head shot showing (but she has TWO profiles on here -- bad bad bad).
I honestly don't mind non-personal photos that show one's personality, but I agree the main shot should show a face.
BTW: Why is is some people seem to be ablt to post many more than just 8 photos. I can't. Some can.
Thanks again, Admin!!

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/9/2007 6:01:56 PM | I don't understand the fuss.
If someone wants to get the attention using scenery, let them. I think some choices say more about their character, and inner thoughts than a mug shot might. I use those odd pics as reasons to often contact a person. I love to see dogs. I wouldn't be able to date a man that didn't like animals.
I am against this new rule. The picture is not profane, then let it be.

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/9/2007 6:03:18 PM | You know..... it actually kind of upsets me. Somebody mentioned censorship and I agree with that poster.
I had my dog as my main pic, and he's a pretty boy. I received a lot of nice comments and have made many friends because of that picture. Really... I do not see what the big gripe was all about, all you had to do was look at my profile and see the rest of me, full body and headshots. So I am throwing a hissy fit and have turned off my picture feature altogether.
Let's hope that next up isn't banning fishers for not having a photo at all or those who choose to participate only in the forums. For pete sakes, lighten up!!! :((
