| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 11/10/2008 3:01:09 PM | For people who post pictures of cats and dogs and other pictures they find 'cool' that don't include themselves in it don't realize this site is free and if you upload garbage you're using up their bandwidth. This doesn't apply to everyone obviously but some people who are being messed with or treated harshly have probably repeatedly tried uploading the same pictures that got deleted. | |

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 11/15/2008 6:43:16 PM | Well, I don;t think there is anything the matter with mine ... all have a head shot. but my main photo is not showing up today (first I noticed it) . So what's up with that ?? Did someone vote me as having an 'illegal' pic ? - cause I don't !!
My DNS is 192.168.1.1 for whatever matter that makes.

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 11/15/2008 7:19:32 PM | After searching notably further I discovered quite a few more rules than I was aware of and I've been here a few years. Just click Help and follow the various "Images" links for all the rules. Seems they're cracking down a fair bit lately as well. | |

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 11/19/2008 12:44:09 PM | Well I had a main pic deleted that had been up for over 2 years, it was a full body pic of me in costume at a renaissance festival, and It seemed to happen after someone took issue with something posted in a now semi closed posting area.
I assumed it was reported for pure spite, and as for why it was deleted if it was actually reviewed is beyond me as you could clearly see my face, and after reviewing the rules could not see any infraction.
As others have noted I think the report main pic option is misused by those just being pissy over something you posted in a forum most of the time.

I assumed it was reported for pure spite, and as for why it was deleted if it was actually reviewed is beyond me as you could clearly see my face, and after reviewing the rules could not see any infraction. One should realize that the rules are many, and kinda scattered a bit as well.
The last straw for me regarding pics was when my main photo was deleted (I'm guessing for being an angle shot not quite showing both eyes completely) In that one I was easily recognizable but had a bit of red-eye too, so I guess maybe I shouldn't whine too much. The part that ticked me off most was that they then saw fit to go into my profile and delete another shot of me, leaving only a really scruffy close-up showing off my fresh facial scars from right after my accident BIGTIME. It's such a huge hassle to address out in the boonies on dial-up where anything of the sort takes ages so I decided no pic is better than that one solo and deleted it too.

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 12/1/2008 9:26:00 PM | | I lost all the pics in my profile and can not get them to come back up. I ran the commands like it was prescribed and got no where. DNS server number, i got was 68.28.90.91 and 68.28.82.91. i enjoy this website but would like to have picturees to go a long with the profiles that have pictures. | |

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 12/2/2008 12:03:07 PM | | There doesn't seem to be any review process. I kept getting images deleted that were nothing but a head shot. I've also had other pics deleted that were not even my main image even though I was in the pic. There just doesn't seem to be enough control to keep it from being abused by stalkers. | |

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 12/21/2008 1:38:56 PM | | I don't see why the excessive rules on a free site....seems more worth than what it's worth actually. Is it really worth it? | |
|
| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 12/21/2008 1:51:25 PM | I still think all dating sites should REQUIRE everyone post one CLEAR headshot and one CLEAR body shot. No friends or children or anyone in those two pics. Just the person alone. Nothing to hide, nothing to lie about.
A liar who gets busted by several people should be banned for life from the site.
|
| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 12/21/2008 3:16:19 PM | That doesn't SOUND like an unreasonable requirement however there are a couple big problems with that approach. First, there is little preventing a person from using an old, or even another persons picture for that matter, so it would be virtually pointless to even attempt to impose such a requirement. Geography alone makes it an unrealistically tall order if one WERE to try and monitor it in any way. Then there's the factor of this being a free site FOR THE MEMBERS but the income for Bigfish is being derived from advertising, as the market here (people seeing all the ads regularly) is rather large and growing all the time, not to mention reasonably catagorized, so it makes for a valuable resorce for specific marketers. If one were to start imposing many regulations theres little doubt that it would have a toll on patronage hence rendering the site less desired as a target for some who DO pay the site for said advertising. The result would be leaving the site less lucrative for the owner so I don't think that's a likely development. Perhaps such rules would be more sensible for a PAID site, but I don't believe that even THEY have much for guidlines or penalties. (as long as members checks don't bounce anyhoo) | |

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 1/12/2009 9:52:01 PM | | My picture was deleted and I am sure its because of a man here that I will not date anymore, he met another and was trying to double team us. She and I found out and confronted him. I don't see how I can be deleted when I had a full head to toe shot of me in pants, black top and had just got off of work at the school. Why would that be deleted? Why would I be deleted when I had a full shot. Do you not look at these pictures before you delete them? | |

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 1/13/2009 8:32:37 PM | | I am trying to upload a perfectly respectable picture and it won't let me and I'm getting a little ticked. I don't understand why it won't let me. | |
|
| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 1/13/2009 8:44:59 PM | I think it's abused honestly. I think you should have some say before someone can just report your pic and get it deleted right away. I don't think the pics are reviewed at all because the creator of this site doesn't have time to review all reported pics so of course this feature is abused.
I had a good face shot with "sunglasses" on that got deleted. (as far as I know, sunglasses used to be allowed) The picture was not blurry. Out of safety issues, I don't always like to show my eyes in pictures right away. I have nothing to hide, but someone decided to "report" it. I also wish we could see who reported us, because if it's the same person over and over again, then I believe some of them just want to mess with the feature. Then we could "report" them for abusing it.
I understand the reasoning behind this feature, but I think it's been executed poorly to a certain degree. We should have a little bit of say, before a reported pic of ours gets deleted. If it's an obvious violation of the rules, sure, get rid of it. But not all of us are webcam or digital camera experts so our "best" picture may not be that great to others, but it's the "best" we can do.

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 1/13/2009 9:16:06 PM | | I think it is a good idea. I saw a guy using a cologne ad pic FOREVER! He finally had to take it down. I wondered how long it was going to take POF to figure it out. I never tattled on him, but it was pretty obvious to me. | |

Key word there is used to be. Photos with people in sunglasses have been getting the boot for quite sometime, so much for the accusation of abuse.

The above is dated May of 2007. From post #5 from moderator ticket ride.
anything that obstructs a clear View of the Face, such as deeply tinted or very reflective Glasses, closed Eyes, Hair, Hats, Hands, etc.
That sounds like a description of sunglasses to me.

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 1/14/2009 3:49:54 AM | I have to say, whoever is in charge of the deletion, obviously does not take the time to check these things out. I am very angry over the deletion of my picture. I am a mother of 5, and most of the men in here said they thought it was ridiculous as well that I was deleted. One note came from a guy without a shirt on. Now I can't post any pictures. POF can't even respond to my messages. What does that say but...no one cares. | |

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 2/4/2009 3:01:55 PM | As someone that has been on this site for a long long time, I am wondering who is checking when pictures are being reported as in violation?
I have always reported those main pictures that do not have at least a head shot that is clear and precise. The rest seems to be up to the profile maker, in my opinion.
For some reason, I just go an email from markus saying that my main picture was deleted for not have a face shot, and I do not know how this can be, since it is the same main picture I have used most times while doing the forums.
I must have someone that is not happy with me, and sent the auto response to POF and they just deleted my picture which I just now put back on, and the same one that I have used all along.
Can you help me with this moderators?

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 2/4/2009 7:56:35 PM | IMO .... anyone who reports this image crap is a dork.
they have no review worth talking about as mentioned many times in this thread you aren't allowed to complain about it or you get the boot.
if it wasn't free ... most people would pack it in
I love the guy who said everyone should have to have a full frontal head shot and full body picture or get kicked out ... ... and he doesn't even have any picture.
And the bandwith thing .... yea yea .... its the same nomatter what the pictures are ... and everyone is limited to 8 pictures ... low resolution. so that's not the issue. that's just an excuse to flex.
IMO ..... someone with 8 pictures of their face .... basicly all the same .... is a waste of bandwidth and doesn't say much about them .... a picture of their dog would say more. There are too many shallow people thinking that what they do is what everyone should do. If someone thinks their car is more important than their looks .... well .... that tells me more about them than a picture of their head.
what's next ..... mug shots required. must have photos of all scars and tatoos discrete body piercings excluded

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 2/4/2009 8:37:33 PM | | Suggestion; Please add to that "no sunglasses" as most I've talked with, also fail to see the difference between a head shot with sunglasses and those pictures with eyes blacked out to "protect the identity" of those not involved in this site, but in the picture posted. | |
