| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/8/2007 6:38:29 PM | thank god!...its about time....i for one am sick of scrollin thru pics just to see cartoons, bicep/ chest shots, your SUV, or house and yard! Really if you cannot post a pic of yourself....then why are you trying to meet people? The truth of who/what you are comes out on the first meet n e way. Hopefully this will clear out some of those profiles.......
I kinda think that a face pic should be mandatory when posting a profile in the first place......

To then restrict searches to images of faces overtly discriminates against such members.
Not really; you may appear in search but never be looked at.
So if I don't look at the profiles without pictures, why should they appear in my search?
That way we both have a choice.

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/8/2007 6:42:19 PM | SO, I see where my honestyt got me 4 minutes and the DICTATORS eliminated a beautiful lake picture that I had as my photo... YOU IDIOTS ARE TRUELY PATHETIC.... You continue to promote practically nude pictures .. But I post a beautiful sunset on a lake and you delete it..... THAT IS AWFUL..... Every person on here should stand up against this.. This is suppose to be freedom to express yourself... What next ADMINS!~!!!! Or should we call you HITLER!!!!!! | |

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/8/2007 6:44:14 PM | My perspective: I 'choose' to NOT post a full face pic for professional reasons. I have pictures available to exchange if and when I choose - and, I'm not hiding anything. If you can't get past that, then sux to be you because I won't give you a second glance - and you nor this site are NOT worth my time. For this site to now engage in nothing less than censorship or buying into a 'meat market mentalitiy' then I'll say good luck with that. I would much rather pay on another site than be censored for not having a full face pic posted on my profile. I'm very much NOT a fan of censorship of any sort, and frankly, in my view, this qualifies BIG TIME - is this a 21st century take at Farenheit 411??
This is not merely a dating site. I enjoy people's creativity at some of the pictures that are posted - and whether they have their favourite pet shot up or no pic posted, I do spend the time to actually read what they have written. For me, its the content (and how its written) that counts, not the packaging. You cynics and superficialites out there won't get that, but hey, I don't care if you do. People do use this site as means to meet friends - online or otherwise. Go figure, some people CAN actually be friends without a picture being involved.
Now, the real question is: How long will my profile/pic be 'permitted'?

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/8/2007 6:52:21 PM | | Hey, it's Administration's site... it's free to us... if we don't agree with rules then we don't have to stay. That's how I see it. | |
|
| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/8/2007 6:58:04 PM | | I think its pretty damn mean when a person includes 2 photos of themselves..and if one just happens to me a leg shot..you delete the damn thing. Im sorry if I didnt respond to your damn email right away or in the manner you were expecting but to have a photo deleted because of your pissy ass mood that morning is pretty pathetic. Some of us want to meet others, and most of us have day jobs that take up most of our lives and why we come to use a site like this.....why can an administrator have a fuzzy picture? should that not be banned as well..who knows..that might not be them? lol | |

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/8/2007 6:59:53 PM | Gee Markus,
You'd think this was your site or something.
Its not even a new rule - its always been part of the package here. This is the best site on the internet - and you keep improving it.
Many thanks!! | |

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/8/2007 7:07:13 PM | | The only ones that want to decieve and trick people are the ones that won't put a picture of themselves up. I have heard horror stories mostly of men who have met a woman and she is totally different than the picture or of how they described themselves. Women do this deception thing just so they can have the thrill of an actually meeting and possible free meal if the guy feels sorry for her. Life is complicated enough without people trying to portray who they are not at the expense of others. | |

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/8/2007 7:09:21 PM | | YOU IDIOTS EVEN DELETED THE PICTURE OF MY LABRADOR RETREIVER!!!!! And it wasn't even my primary picture... Come on, don't have the guts to come out and talk about this ???? Just going to dictate to everyone whether they agree or not... Why not take a vote... TO AFRAID YOU WILL LOSE!!!!!>?????????? Come on Markus... lets talk about this.... WHy should we have to look at your stupid blurry black and white photo YOU have posted?????? | |

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/8/2007 7:11:51 PM | | Wake up Astreaa, have you bothered to read any of the dozens of reasons that people DO NOT post pictures. Or do you just ignore all of those comments!!! | |

Why not take a vote... TO AFRAID YOU WILL LOSE!!!!!>?????????? Oh he is running a poll on it. It is running about 3 to 1 in favor of it. You have to remember. It has always been in the rules. You just ignored it.

This is suppose to be freedom to express yourself... What next ADMINS!~!!!! Or should we call you HITLER!
Well, you could quit if you don't want to adhere to the terms of service YOU signed when you joined....
And to the above poster who doesn't post a photo because of her job, maybe you just shouldn't be here.
What I don't understand is how you have turned this into users deleting other users photos. All the guy is asking for is that if you choose to post a photo you post a "photo". Not a cartoon YOU think is cute, not your toe ring, not your motorcycle (geeze, does owning a motorcycle define you?), not your dog or cat, AS YOUR MAIN PICTURE. The users are not deleting other people's photos. The admins are. You know the admins. The ones who own and run this system?
Post your beautiful sunset on the lake as your 8th photo and you will be in compliance. I have 4 photos for public viewing, 4 more hidden from piblic viewing. The 4 I have public are my ugly fat face.
There are guidlines people are required to follow in every aspect of life. Why is this so wrong in your eyes? Nobody respects freedom of speech more than I do. I wrote for a newspaper and that business is based on the 1st amendment freedoms. However, this is a moderated system. There are other "anything goes" systems you can use if this bugs you so much. Go use them.
And to the poster who mentioned the mod who has a photo of her eye, is it her MAIN and ONLY photo?
Read the whole rule, not just what makes your case.

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/8/2007 7:21:32 PM | Honestly, If we are going to go through all this aggravation about enforcing a mandatory a face shot ... and people complain about not knowing if the photo is genuine .... Lets get all the photos certified! .... Get the DMV involved! .... Otherwise HOW DO YOU REALLY KNOW IF THE PHOTOS ARE GENUINE? Turn this wonderful site into a total mess ... charge to be a member, because one man donating his time to this ... is going to need help with that one ... reviewing MILLIONS of profiles for authenticity and photo quality... Besides 40% of the face photos are of such poor quality ... why bother?
I'm sorry, but I don't want every Tom,****, the guys at work, my parents, and Jane, my neighbor to know I'm single and looking for love, what I like to do in my free time, where I work, what my sexual preferences are ... or have a photo to put with my words .... Like I said just ask ... and if people are worried about Identifying dates ... I'm sure you'll be smart enough to get a photo before you meet and then some ... It's just too invasive for me and many others.
A lot of people post photos of things they are proud of or that simply catch the eye~ Yeah, there are the boob shots (a lot of girls are real proud of their new boobs cuz they paid a lot for em), the long legs, the six pack abs, the occasional dong photo slips by .... 50K Harley Davidsons, yachts, houses, dogs, cats, eyeballs (I have one of those, got deleted) Why on earth should it be MY DECISION or any random member, on what they choose to post. It's a Free country last I checked. Users should use some discretion on posting photos of themselves in ridiculously provocative photos ... they have specialty sites for that all over the net. It's the browser who'll decide if they are really worth a look ... And if it's so darn important to them to be that superficial, to make sure you are not bald, or fat, or ugly, or whatever, they will just move to the next Ad ...
Frankly it is a security issue for some singles ... I think it's a mistake to fix something that isn't broken. There are a lot of success stories here.
And once again being as this is a free site that was so graciously developed and maintained by one person ... He can do anything he wants with it and users will either complain, leave or stay and deal with it, whatever the end result. Admin ~ Thank YOU for all your work for all us fish.

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/8/2007 7:25:07 PM | | i think a main picture as having at least your face in it is good enough . i dont think we should go as far a dictating every main picture should be a full body shot. as for a head shot not revealing obesity oh please. you can tell from someone face wheter or not they are obese. i have never seen a really fat person with a really skinny face yet. | |
|
| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/8/2007 7:26:47 PM | as long as the main pic has your face, other pics are allowed
That is not the case unfortunately...My 4 main pics are of me. Very clearly. I also had 2 other pics of my artistic creations posted. A design and a photograph. Both of those were DELETED! And they were not my main photos. The design I did for a t-shirt, IS NOT FOR SALE! (Astreaa). Unless you go to a very obscure surf shop in Hawaii. But it is MY work, and I am proud of it because it is a part of me. BigFish said as long as is wasn't your main pic, it could remain...Why were mine deleted. If they can't be posted alongside my photos, so be it! I guess I would llike more clarification. As long as we have true photos of our person, may we post a pic of our animal, or our vehicle, ect.?
Thanks! JD | |

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/8/2007 7:29:25 PM | I don't agree with it at all. While I don't like some body pics, I find some of the other pics funny and often an insight into the person's personality. Also, if I feel like I don't wish to display myself, I like the option of the main pic being something else, and the person has to click on the profile and then can see the other pics. It would be nice if the person had a proper pic IN addition to the non-human/body part pic. That's what I had, my main picture was of the Martin Luther King Jr. waterfall in San Fran, and then I had pics of me that one could see upon opening the profile. As someone mentionned though, one could have a fake pic up anyway so deception is not really the issue for me.
I think a pic of a person's face that is totally fuzzy and you cannot even see them is worse than a non-human or body part pic.
If someone wishes to obscure themselves though, go right ahead. I have my opinions about certain types of pics, but I would certainly never impose my distaste or opinion on someone else.
I just hope that all sites do not begin to get too "overuled" with rules :)

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/8/2007 7:32:02 PM | Thanks Admin.........I think it is a great rule, and I am glad to see it being enforced now. I would go a step further though and say that all pics must be of ONLY the person posting it, not a pic of you AND ten other people standing around in a bar getting soused........I also agree that the cartoon and joke pics and the pics of someone's eyeball or their boobs or butts or legs also must go. I LOVE dogs (and other animals too) but I am not interested in just seeing pics of your dogs or your cats...........I am not shopping for pets here. I am looking to (hopefully) find someone to date...........this is, after all, a "dating site" right?
Some people on this thread are really raising some Cain about the Administrator wanting to ban these pics, but hey, IT IS HIS SITE.............He can do what he wants to..........remember, it is FREE to us..........If you don't like it, and the rules, you are free to leave. I would rather only see SERIOUS people on here anyway, and maybe this might just weed a few of the less serious ones out..........Go to a pay site (which doesn't work any better, BTW, as far as "finding" anyone, ) and pay, pay, pay to your heart's content and then you can post probably almost anything you want to post.

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/8/2007 7:42:39 PM | I enjoy seeing the variety of photos - sunsets, animals etc
I like the self expression and posting eyes or chests looks beautiful
|
| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/8/2007 7:43:17 PM | I wonder if we can get the admins to address these claims about photos that were deleted.
If it is true that the main photo met the guidelines, and other photos were indeed deleted, perhaps an explanation for that as well as a clarification is in order. It seems a lot of people do not understand the policy and what the enforcement will be. A lot of people seem to think that vicious users are deleting other user's photos out of spite or some sort of revenge motivated action, and I know that can't possibly be the case.
Clarify please? Possible addressing the concerns posted so far in this thread?
The way I read it is this.
As long as your main photo contains AT LEAST a view of your head and shoulders (and nobody said it had to be an extreme close-up) then the photo is in compliance. This would also mean that a picture taken from above the head down into the cleavage is not going to qualify, full body from behind is not going to qualify, your eye, your toe, etc......
I don't think it's out of line to ask that people post a proper photo. In fact I have been a proponenet of making photos mandatory. It might elminate a small amount of the nastiness that people tend to fling when totally anonymous. And as far as the argument that the photos could be fake anyway, who will that hurt? Someone makes a date with a user sporting a fake photo, shows up for the date and sees that the person is not the subject of the photo.... who fooled who?
They are just trying to elminate some of the BS. Work with them, ok?
