Great point!!!! I think if you continue this rule that everyone not in favor of it should just go find a photo of joe blow off the street and post it as his/her picture... Nobody is going to know if its you or not..... JDMUI..... admin DICTATOR deleted both of my photos even though they weren't my primary photos either.. so he lies on top of being a dictator!!! | |

I am awake enought to know that the MAIN reason for not showing a face picture is those that are ashamed of the face god has given them.
I can understand the reason of the people that have families and friends that would look down on them for being on an internet dating site but they can always try to meet someone at the ole grocery store or church then.
There are so many liers and cheaters and this rule will discourage and prevent them from being able to hurt others.
Again,,,,,got nothing against the cute animal pics as your animals are a reflection of you !!!! | |

That's laughable really. Some people choose to display themselves, others don't. Has nothing to do with they are ashamed or otherwise. If someone chooses to "display" themselves/character through their art, pets or otherwise, what's the big deal? If you don't like the pictures you see they have, you're certainly free to move on, are you not? This is NOT just a dating site, many people have made friends here as well, and are attached and only looking for friends. ***holes and scammers will be just that, regardless if they're "main photo" has their face in it. This site needs to relax a little bit, it used to be fun, but lately is just full of can't do this, can't do that, must do this, must do that. Maybe admin should get a specific mod to fill out generic profiles of all of us based on a few generic sign up questions...? What's the point of tryin to show your individuality or character/personality? There isn't a point. | |

I choose not to post my picture because I feel that someone should take time to read the profile and feel the person from the words not just the face or the body!!! And as I stated before if someone is a liar or cheater do you not think that they will decieve you by posting a false picture. I am not ashamed of the face god gave me but I also think that the DICTATOR admin. should also respect our wishes to present ourselves through other visual expessions of ourselves besides just a mug shot... Once again I know I am repeating this but he has no problem showing half dressed women or half dressed males... yet he chooses to eliminate a beautiful picture or someones best friend as in a pet.. And you are correct Astreea.. a pet is truely an expression of the person within..... And all of you that continue to preach that it is his site and he can run it as he chooses....... Your correct.. But does that mean that he can't make a mistake and take the advice of some other people that also want to see this site prosper but not always nessacarily how he runs it... And DAMNIT if I want my dogs picture as a supplimentary photo LEAVE IT THERE... Comply with your own damn rules JERK | |

Posted: 4/8/2007 8:07:06 PM | Despite some of the theatrics and hardlined attitudes expressed here (such as it is mandatory to display a face pic), and the idea that Admin is a very generous spirit in running a free dating site, I would not forget that POF is a money making business, (if you doubt do a search about POF and Admin on Google).
Other popular dating sites do not demand customers display a pic and it would not be a good marketing exercise for Admin to insist on that. More to the point Members are in effect using their unpaid labour to help edit and run the site with increased reporting and editing options. This forum and its poll is in effect an exercise to guage customers reactions to changes to this site. | |

If someone is truly interested to know someone, they are going to read the profile, regardless if the person is showing their artisitic side, animal loving side, etc. through their main pic. If all people are worried about is seeing a PIC of the person, why not just have a pic and vitals and scrap the about me stuff? Doesn't seem to matter anyways.
As an FYI - there are other FREE dating sites where you are allowed to post pictures reflecting your personality, being that of a pet, car, art, etc. and there is no RULE for main pics.

I totally agree with the pic restrictions. It's not an art site... it's a dating site... if you don't want to display your face you don't have to... if you want to show your art off you can... just not on your main pic.
The 'admin' is doing an outstanding job and I for one appreciate this site and the fact that it's free. I'd like to see any one of you complainers try and do the same thing without getting frustrated and giving up. You get what you pay for... you don't like it.... there's "plenty of sites" you can go to where they get paid to listen to you whine :down: | |

Well, it would be nice if that were true. But unfortunately people have been having their non-main pics deleted.
I'm a little confuzzled because in some posts Admin has said only the MAIN pic has to be a headshot of ourselves and that we can have the other pictures of whatever we want, basically. Though I think it is really funny that you deleted two award-winning pictures that on POF deemed indecent when a well-known photography society deemed excellent photography. But now, you removed (and deleted) my legs shot as my main picture which you had left alone last time. The picture was tastefully done. If my own mom didn't have a problem with it . . . .LOL . . . I am surprise that you or anyone else does. My mom is a tough cookie - she loved it!
Yes, I understand why a head shot needs to be in the main picture. That's fine. We all can live with that. But I do want it to be known that I have click on profiles that had beautiful scenery or a funny pic . . .just because it gave a hint of the person's personality that I thought I would like to look into more.
Please don't get the wrong image . . . I do truly love this site. I have met more people on-line that I never would have met. Even met good friends from my own area. And I definitely wouldn't be looking forward to meeting some of the people in Scotland if I hadn't found this site.
However, once you begin "policing", add more and more rules. . . . . you might as well change the name to POF's Match.com. And if you do that, you might as well, kick off all the "non-single" people, knock off the "chat" people, rid the site of "here for the forums only" people, etc. Which then will probably make this site pretty boring place to visit.
You profusely claim this is a "dating" site . . . . however, I strongly disagree. This site is much, much, much more than just a "dating" site.
Thanks for hearing me out, Mr. Admin. Oh, one more question - do you want me to delete my tastefully done chest shot or do you want that honor? Heavens, I don't want my profile deleted.
