| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/8/2007 8:56:12 PM | Oh come on now! Get a life! I have to admit I have seen the rules & wonder how cartoon pics & pet pics were allowed to be used, but does it really matter? I have found that my sunset photos get terrific respopnse & since I do send thank you emails to those who wind up on my fans list. As a matter of fact it is how I met a very charming woman in England almost a year ago now & call her on the phone once a month or so! Can I help it that I am not as attractive as my beautiful sunset pics? | |

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/8/2007 8:56:14 PM | I am having conflicted feelings about this as well......
On the one hand, I can see the side that says that they want to see the face of the people that they are talking to, and that this is primarily a dating site.
While on the other hand, there are many people like me who because of where they work or due to the stigma attached to online dating (and lets not kid ourselves, it still exits) would prefer to share our pic privately. There also is the security aspect of it all - people stealing your pics.
Overall, I think that this policy should not go into effect as the negatives outweigh the benefits. I think this probably has more to do with the fear that this site is turning into a site favouring forums instead of a dating site, but I think that this policy would cause a drop in members. A drop in members would mean less people see the ads, and less revenue.
Then again, less members would mean those who stay behind would be more dedicated to finding a mate or it could mean less selection. Time will tell....

Report image as not human or headless torso I don't mean to poke fun at what I can understand is another attempt by Admin and the Mods to make their job a little easier, but how come this line under our profile pictures sounds terribly gruesome to me? Perhaps it's just me. One thing's for sure ... the first part of it'll keep my 'ex' off the site ... (kidding, kidding).
Seriously though ... if it shortens up the work load for those trying to 'control' a website with, what? ... 30,000+ people on it at any given time, I say what the heyy. It's not hurting anyone and if it helps ... If people want to put pics of their dogs, motorcycles or favourite trees on their profile, they have 5 or 6 other pics to do it with.

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/8/2007 9:04:23 PM | | You guys need to get a grip, of the 1.3 million people who used the site this month, its effected a grand total of around 4,000 so far and may go all the way to 9,000 users. | |

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/8/2007 9:06:41 PM |
you come to my home and don't like one of my rules..what happens willis Willis? heh heh.
Yeah, that headless torso line is kinda gruesome......I like it.
Sorry, sorry off topic.
|
| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/8/2007 9:09:23 PM | | I think it should go for all images. There are some freaky looking people out there who sometimes hide the crazy shots not as main images but this is at least a start. | |

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/8/2007 9:14:45 PM | No point in really arguing it, defending it or otherwise, I'd say it's a done deal, whether the site users like it or not. Bahhhh.. what's 9,000 users affected compared to a 9,000,000 paycheque? | |
|
| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/8/2007 9:19:02 PM | Hmm i thought this was more than just a dating site. Hence the reason we have the option for "friends or hangout or chat" etc. Personally i think the head shot is appropriate if you put "dating" or "LTR" as an option. But if you're just here for anything else such as friendships or chat there should be no such requirement. What does it matter if one has a headshot if they are here for just friendships or chat? Personally, i think requiring headshots will just result in more people putting up fake pics. Afterall, if they have no plans in ever meeting someone on here because they are just here for chat/forums it wouldn't really matter. | |

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/8/2007 9:20:36 PM | hhmmmm 9? mega bucks.... Just wondering why Admin can't employ staff to Report and Delete images and so on...but I guess that woud take away from the "spirit" of the site ..... | |

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/8/2007 9:30:51 PM | I personally can't wait for the "VOTE someone off the island" feature. :applause: Ohhhhhh.... which reminds me.... how IS the VOTE for the image thing going???
**ponders** is it still considered a dictatorship when the final consensus is VOTED for the people... by the people???
Anybody know how the VOTE is coming along??? Yeah's still have it 3 to 1???

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/8/2007 9:55:00 PM | I LIKE THE IDEAL OF JUST A HEAD SHOT ,I MEAN IS EVERY ONE GOING TO GET ON HERE AND JUST LOOK AT BODYS OF PEOPLE,,I THINK IT"S BETTER THIS WAY SO PEOPLE CAN GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER WITH OUT JUDGING,,BUT I ALSO THINK THE OTHER PICS CAN BE OF CATS ,DOGS,BODY,KIDS YOU KNOW SO ON AND SO ON ,,BUT NO NUDE ,,THIS IS A DATING SITE THAT IS FREE,,NOT A PORN SITE THAT YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR!!!!JUST A THOUGHT,,,,,,, | |
|
| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/8/2007 10:00:51 PM | | i think it only makes sense if the people reporting the pics are identified to the people who have had the pics deleted because of their jealousy. I mean really when it comes down to it, it will be because someone has a better pic then someone else and they are jealous so if they get it removed then they think those people won't have a good chance anymore. I also think that the pics have to be checked to make sure that they fit into the guide lines before they are deleted. if there is no nudity and some form of a face is showing, like a chin then keep it. I don't think the whole face needs to be seen clearly for everyone to see because some people are shy about being on a site like this. If that stuff can't be followed then I think this whole thing should be taken away because it will just be abused. | |
|
| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/8/2007 10:16:56 PM | | I would prefer they remove the photos that are so blured you can not tell if it is a person or not. Or the ones so far off you do not know if they are 27 or 77. | |
|
| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/8/2007 10:18:59 PM | I guess this means someone reported my sunset shot? I wonder how or why that would bother someone! UGH! I have seven other shots in my profile that are clearly ME....I don't get why a creative shot of mine was deleted.......seems pretty ridiculous!! | |
|
| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/8/2007 10:28:56 PM | actually that was a nice shot...i remember that pic...i think if you go back and double check the rules, you're allowed secondary pics on your profile, but your main pic has to be of you...i'm pretty sure that's how i read it in the other thread that was just fianlly closed for all the whining | |

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/8/2007 10:38:48 PM | People...People you are here advertising yourself. Not the dog or your photography skills.
You are here to sell yourself to another.....nothing less. So do it right.
If you were buying a car do you think a picture of the ash tray is all that should be posted?
A profile without a picture is simply hiding something.....themselves!
profile
noun 1. an analysis (often in graphical form) representing the extent to which something exhibits various characteristics; "a biochemical profile of blood"; "a psychological profile of serial killers" 2. an outline of something (especially a human face as seen from one side) 3. biographical sketch 4. degree of exposure to public notice; "that candidate does not have sufficient visibility to win an election" [syn: visibility] 5. a vertical section of the Earth's crust showing the different horizons or layers

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/8/2007 10:41:32 PM | | Here's the long & the short of it to me. A person invented this site. I am using it for free for almost a year. I have met many good people & some freaky. I don't go to bars or date customers. I'm also convinced that this is how I will meet the next great person in my life. So if I'm asked to follow a few simple rules that everyone else has to follow, then whats the big deal. I'm just greatful for the outlet... | |

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/8/2007 10:49:08 PM | Aloha,
As the thread title says, Reporting and deleting MAIN images. I love the idea of having your primary image be of yourself. Fantabulous! But I think we should be able to upload a pic of our pet, our vette, or anything else we fancy, as long as it is not copyright infringement . I have uploaded my graphic, and a pic I took on Maui, and a pic I recently took in Palo Duro Canyon. If they are deleted again, that is fine. I will not try uploading them again. But the rules, and the title to the thread need to be clearly defined.
I love POF, such a fantastic site, with a great mix of people from all over. I think the Admin and the Mods do a great job keeping us in check, and maintaining a wonderful website and service. Having been a webmaster for over 10 yrs, I know what goes into maintaining and promoting a site such as POF. Kudos to you all. And from the depth of my okole, MAHALO!

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/8/2007 11:10:06 PM | | thats not a valid point, woman can go out in public and show low cut cleavage tops and it is perfectly acceptable and even string bikinis, no one has any issues with that but people would have issues if guys went around wearing their pants so low that half their willies hung out. I think what ever is acceptable in a public area should be acceptable on this site, I mean, come on, are we prudes? Also if you don't like it, then don't look at it, don't ruin others peoples fun just for your own selfishness. | |

Report image as not human or headless torso ^^^^Maybe that should say:
Report this MAIN IMAGE as not human or headless torso... ...if the rule is to apply only to main images. Maybe that would cut down on the secondary pics being reported. I would probably only be inclined to ever use the report button if I came across something pornographic.
I should probably clarify, I don't feel any real NEED for the picture reporting feature at all.
I agree with many others here: I like the cats, dogs, flowers, creative stuff as ways to give more insight into one's personality. I understand that a face shot is reasonable at least for the main pic but I'd hate to see these other shots forbidden. I include my cat pics because too often I've had lovely men communicate with me who turn out to be allergic to my cats. Cat pics tell them IMMEDIATELY that they need not bother. I think the Harley pics are silly but lots of men seem to think it's important to know. Why should what's important to them bother me? No matter what's decided on this picture question, I'm grateful for the site and the fact that it's free. Yes, it's much more than a dating site. I enjoy the opportunity to write in the forums and to learn from what others have to say. I have made friends here, even if I am still fishing for my Mr. One-and-Only!
