| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/8/2007 11:59:16 PM | | To me, dating is about meeting people of all types and ways of thinking. Any restriction like this reduces it's appeal to the population it seeks to provide a service to. | |

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/9/2007 12:50:41 AM | This is a good idea done poorly. I understand your desire to keep your site free of fakes, and also understand that your site is waay too big to be policed by just you.. but you're limiting the way people express themselves online. I'm lucky enough to have a face that I'm proud of, but some people may want to express themselves with photos not of their faces, but instead some other part of their bodies. Don't deny them the chance to show a sexy, but not facially oriented picture as their main photo. If you really wanted to reduce the number of fakes, allow users to report the obvious ones, and rely upon your user's ability to tell who's real and who isn't by the interactions that occur daily on your site. Just the thoughts of a satisfied user for the last couple of years- Steve | |

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/9/2007 1:26:10 AM | I must say I was a little P.O.'D last night when I checked my profile and my Jack Russell was GONE!!! Quite honestly I had missed reading the "report if not a human image" and obviously did not pay enough attention to new regulations. I do understand the reasoning behind this but want to make it clear that the reason I posted my little dog was not because I was trying to hide anything , not because I am a fake and certainly not because I'm hoping someone will take my dog out on a date. It is, simply put, that, due to the nature of my work, and the small town I live in, is not a good idea for me to put a picture of myself front line and center . I had clearly stated in my profile that Pics are available on request, which gave me the option of screening who I will answer and send them to but at the same time could have a picture on. On a positive note, now that this Forum has taken place, at least I know that my dog can be somewhere in my pics here. I do have to say that I find it quite amazing that anyone would actually take offense to someone having their dog or cat on their profile. If you don't like it, certainly don't have to respond to profile. | |

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/9/2007 2:13:15 AM | My personal opinions aside, if you insist on keeping this feature...
...then how about a second step/confirmation page (ex., are you sure this image should be deleted/reported?) to keep people from unintentionally deleting other users' images? A wayward click of my mousebutton earlier this evening apparently reported another user's image, and I didn't even realize it until he said something about it.
If you're going to allow users to dictate what other users may or may not use in their profiles, then at least make sure it was intentional.

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/9/2007 2:19:44 AM | Totally in favour of the new ruling. Yes, i have had problems with admin on here, regarding my pics on occasion. However, my main pic has always included a head shot. Whilst we as mere humans should not judge someone on what they look like....it is a requisite in the animal world. Top marks for a great site admin xxx | |

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/9/2007 2:32:39 AM | Ummm ok why not post. While opinions are being solicited.A profile iz a place where pof users can express themselves. And if they want to select something.Other than a pic of their face. Then (shrugs),interesting people.Tend to do interesting things. And by cutting them out of this site.Your hurting the site. And undermining the whole.Proposed purpose of it.I mean.Censorship is almost always a bad thing. If someone were to be an interesting person. And develop an interest/relationship.With another user.At some point. They are going to willingly furnish a pic.Of themself. In those peoples own good time. And someone could always post pics of other people.ie:head or body or whatever. Its the internet. And its not like it would be hard to do,right. So I say restricting peoples expression on their profiles. THUMBS DOWN :D
PS,...though I agree. That there has to be reasonable standards.I mean I would like to know who a person. That Im interested in,is.And what they look like.Though,if they chose not to.I would have the option.Of overlooking that persons profile. And moving on eh ?.
Anyway, agree this is a cool site.LOL wonder how much bandwidth U use a month. But then would also like to know. What the advert revenues. On a site like this are....So tc peeps. PS2,...plus apparently this new polic "e"y.Caused someone to remove Arugula pic of her legs. And I like her legs dammit :(

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/9/2007 2:46:54 AM | | Hi I think the idea is great we are already given the choice to add a photo of ourselves or not. Some of us who dont add photo are just hidding behind computers hoping that someone will find us. Everyone has free will and choice, and opinions. This is mine that if your on here and were all supposed to be looking for the honest and loyalty and trust and ect. Then I agree lets keep it real, I am a visual person and I like to see who Im corresponding with. Lets face it a picture of a cat or dog or shirt isnt the one im going to be talking with. Also I really dont care to see a guy half naked before I get to know him, in fact if you email me and your picture is of you half naked i will tell you im not intrested. If your that willing to throw yourself out like that with no class or respect for you or others Im not intrested, (remember my opinion). If I want to see that I will make my own choice (key word people choice=my choice) to go to a strip bar and pay for it. Thnks take care sabien | |

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/9/2007 3:03:00 AM | Yea, great idea. But only the main picture. As for the other pictures I don't want a restriction. Since I've got tattoos, I wanna show people I have them so I put them in there.
But for a main picture this idea is GREAT!

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/9/2007 3:32:37 AM | Best advice I can give? Listen to blahblah. He dosen't respect the rules of grammar, but he is thoughtful and correct in this case.
Admin, you're limiting PoF'ers freedom and creativity by this new rule. And the freedom and creativity you allow is, by far, the very best aspect of this site. I know because I've been on true.com and some other pay sites. None of them get it right.
PoF has been good, so far, because you encourage people to express themselves in whatever way they feel is appropriate. Don't take that away in hopes of removing some fake profiles.
Imagine if you accomplished your goal of removing all the fakes on this site- and ask yourself what it costs. You gain the deletion of all the fakes, but you also lose those who think that a picture of their legs expresses themselves best. You lose those who aren't willing, for whatever reason, to post their faces (think high profile jobs). You lose those whose pets are very important in their lives. You lose those those who appreciate a picture of a beautiful sunset they took while vacationing in Hawaii. You lose those who want to move past their physical appearance and find someone who appreciates them for whatever it is that they appreciate themselves. You're solving a little problem with a draconian measure that takes away more than it gives to our online community.
Instead, how about a link on each picture that allows users to report the image (whatever it may be) as a fake. That solves the same problem, but allows PoF members to be creative, sensual, silly, or whatever else they think is appropriate to attract whatever it is that they are looking for. Don't act to stifle our user's creativity and freedom, because that's what this site is all about, and that's why this site is alive where all the pay sites are dead.
Just my thoughts. Thanks for what is, overall, the best and most vibrant website in the www.com field.

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/9/2007 3:53:31 AM | errr ehhh ummm,thanks ? :D.
Kidding, how ya doing dood ?Well written post above. And I agree with him.Anyway tc and happy
PS,...more of my internet babbling.
Some people might. For whatever reason.Want someone to judge them.On something other than their appearance.I mean once U get to really know. And like someone.Sometimes U can over look.Or at least, not focus so much on their physical appearance.Meaning, the like me.4 me.Philosophy etc.Ive sumtimes wondered if some of these no pic people.Who seem to have interesting personalities.Might not be drop dead gorgeous women.Cuz Im not going to lie.Of course physical attraction. Is important to me.But some people.Might not want someone. To focus on them.Strictly becuz their attractive.(or the reverse.)They may not want to get summarily skipped.Solely based on their appearance.Anyway this is just strictly as a mental exercise here.Az long as the site Admin's.Dont get overly restrictive. And start limiting expression.Anyway concludes yet another post.On an internet dating forum :D bye.
Shyt PS2,...and then theres the no pic people. If people can post or create a profile and not include any pics at all ? Then what the hell iz anyone bytching about :D.Ok really leaving this time. But again, losing those people would hurt the site. And the forums.So,....
dammit, plus as Im sure, many others before me have noted. There are some anal/bitter nutjobs on this site. That may dislike another user. For whatever reason. And use this az a means.Of harassing or annoying them.So let expression reign. And kick back and collect the advert and PPC revenues kay ? :D........fook bye, once again.sheesh ;)

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/9/2007 4:14:47 AM | Funny this...
I chose not to put up "public" photos of me primarily because I have an abusive ex. She has already used against me the general public perception that "internet dating" is questionable at best and shows some demonic flaw in a person at worse. That perception being perpetuated by the media's unbalanced reporting of about 1 positive dating example vs. 100 negative stories of things like predators and scammers.
Knowing my neighbors and many others in the community in which I live, I know that the vast majority of them and their opinions have not caught up with the 21st century. Although many frown upon cruising bars for "love," most would allow that being somewhat acceptable, perhaps a "necessary evil" vs. using the technology of the internet. They cannot conceive yet that internet dating can be much safer than crusing bars or some of the other more accepted methods of looking for a partner. And to reemphazise the above, the mainstream media with it's addiction to sensationalism, reinforces and perpetuates those misconceptions.
And this in the good 'ole U.S.of A. Talk about freedom eh?
Because of the above and a few other reasons I can think of I would like to express my sincere thanks to the Plenty of Fish site owner/operator for not making it manditory to have a photo. If we had to display a photo I would either not be here at all or I would be coerced into finding and posting a false photo for my protection.
I do and will continue to send a photo of myself most often when initiating contact with another PoFer or replying to someone emailing me. That is, after I've decided it is not the ex or one of her friends or co-workers.
Now I was beginning to consider using some main -public- pic of something related to me or my interest but not of me specifically. Then having other photos of me that people actually looking at my profile could see. That way anyone simply cruising through a search would not see my smiling face upfront and click to view my profile and information because of it. I was beginning to feel this might be a comfortably safe alternative.
This thread makes it clear that this is no longer an option. I don't remember reading such a rule as has been mentioned here about the main photo when I initially signed up. But I conceed there are so many rules and regulations and laws and terms etc., etc. ad nausiem that I may have overlooked it. Just because it is posted somewhere (even somewhere obscure and almost impossible to find like some governments and businesses prefer to do... but I am not implying PoF does this) does not mean we all or even most of us read and/or fully understood it.
Overall I have enjoyed the more relaxed nature and reasonable freedom of expression provided by the PoF site and it's host. Thank you.
However, because it isn't as simply as black and white, I voted "No." I prefer not to have so many restrictions levied upon the site that changes it's character from a relaxed place to meet and communicate with others of similar and different interests to a site that is more like the paid sites that do things primarily to increase cash flow. Also, requiring such a photo is no guarantee that it will be not be spoofed. If we lived in a perfect world none of these and other issues would pose a problem.
I look forward to many more hours of PoF as long as it doesn't become too restrictive or uncomfortable to use.
Thanks again Markus. | |

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/9/2007 4:20:24 AM | What is wrong with the OWNER posting his or her own pic? Animals are not looking for a date or relationship on this site.......We are all adults here..if you don't like your pic go and have one made....take the time and the effort to put your best foot forward...this could have a profound change in your life.....why not go for it?..There is someone out there for everyone.....looks are not the most important aspect of your essence (men are the worst at this one, pretty boys get a grip, we can see you if you are handsome) Be humble, about yourself.....Anyway.....take the time too get a good web cam, that is what I had to use.......ask a friend, fix your hair....put on your best smile...snap.....see no pain! I have a head shot as my main pic, then another, one of me with a friend, then a cartoon...oh, and my baby pic...can't forget the wolf. I give an explanation of my pics in my profile. None have been deleted at this point in time.
Does that mean I am compiling or that no one reads my profile anyway!
Its a free site OWNED BY THE BIGFISH...I was raised that when you walk into someone elses home you find out what the rules are. If you don't like them...leave.
Peace. | |

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/9/2007 5:01:57 AM | What if someone prefers to send their mugshot as a private image. Some of us are looking for freinds and not all the attention that comes with having a beautiful mug! This is censorship.....d*mn admin Nazi's with nothing better to do! Give me a break and get a life. This site is just getting ridiculous.

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/9/2007 5:04:52 AM | | Ok then why was 2 of my drawings deleted after I put my face on the first AND second picture? What's going on with that? | |
|
| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/9/2007 5:09:35 AM | | EXACTLY but apparently some people don't read profiles and understand this cause they want all these stupid regulations and just because he decided to put his face on here doesn't mean that everyone else wants to. I even put on it that I have pics if anyone wants to see them. But NOPE he kept deleting my friggin pics. THEN I DO put my mug on this site and he STILL deletes two of them for some stupid reason. They didn't even have nudity in them. | |
|
| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/9/2007 5:20:46 AM | | Yeah but who makes this site work? Not the BIGFISH cause well once the people came into this site it became theres not his. That's how life works. If all these people left because of stupid regulations there wouldnt' be a site at all. | |

| Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/9/2007 5:28:03 AM | Excuse me, Sweetness...^^^...I just checked your profile and your drawings are still there. Very nice. | Reporting And deleting Main images Posted: 4/9/2007 5:47:36 AM | To answer your question yx3s... is that whacks are deleting ANY pic at whim....
pics with faces, pics with family, blah blah blah....
OUT OF HAND.... people are deleting main pics, pics of people that won't date them, pics of people that angered them cuz they didn't agree with THEIR opinions... How can THAT be controlled now?
BIG FISH.... I thank you for this site, developed FOR US, by YOU.... and congratulate you on the forums and the NON-DATING aspects.... and will adhere.... At least you've given us a chance and space to vent, and for that I'm truly grateful.
Curtain down.............

Gotta wonder here, why would this woman's nipples showing be acceptable and someone else's innocent Jack Russell Terrier be unacceptable? What is the standard being sought? I find a cute puppy dog less offensive than her hand running down her underpants. Would a man's pic of part of his penis be acceptable as long as he's brazen enough to show his face in the shot with it?
