Posted: 4/9/2007 9:15:01 AM | Guess it does not matter to me one way or the other...BUT I do believe that one should be able to use whatever pic they want to...whether it be a face shot, a FLOWER, which mine WAS...or just to have no pic at all. I am here for the Forums and people do not need to see my face necessarily. I am not sure how I even got "targeted", since I see alot more on here that have no face pic....Hmmm...Maybe cuz I post on the boards alot??? Dunno...BUT if Admin. is going to delete some without face shot pics, they need to clean house and delete them all that do not have a face shot pic.  | |

Posted: 4/9/2007 9:19:24 AM | dear admin, i agree with some sentiment but the one thing that any site needs is a lil humor , we all know that it don't matter what people put as a pic because you,ll never know if that's the real them or otherwise .. and 2nd this is not a cattle market.. or is that what you want for this site, i have recommended this site to others but if it gets too nanny state then i know many will leave this site , humor and mystery is what makes things fun so remember that , and i should know i have been in marketing for 22 years , inc media advertising !! it seems some people have lost the plot !

Also, for those users who like to harass (even though you can block them) I think there should be a way to prevent them from even looking at our profiles. | |

Posted: 4/9/2007 9:55:07 AM | I am a painter. I have uploaded photos of my paintings a number of times and they disappear within a day or so. My paintings are abstract landscape based -- not literal or figurative. I don't use them as my main image. I would like to be able to show my paintings I do as part of who I am. Why do my paintings get deleted? I see other users have paintings up and they stay up. Why is that?

In my employment I work with mentally challenged persons. In past I have had problems with clients who have difficulty with true reality and their reality. I have a problem putting my photo on first sighting. | |

this is a dating site that has become more ... you can come here to just find friends, to email or chat to friends, or to just find an intimate encounter, its not all about dating!
The second is this site is FREE .
I guess my advice is you can't play by the rules .... there's the door !

Posted: 4/9/2007 10:09:19 AM | I don't really like this feature. I'm not going to report anyone unless its a direct threat or harrassment to me or others.
As some said, "Too much Big Brother".
I realize that there is an enormous amount of profiles to police, but its unfair to leave it to our peers or regular members to discriminate who gets deleted and what stays. While this may be in the rules from the start, I've never noticed. I had my legs up as a main pic because I didnt always want my face showing at the first glance. No one ever complained about them.
Personally, I think having a good head shot is most successful, followed by other poses. Some choose to have their dogs or cars or a sunset in, and actually I think you can get a sense of who that person is by their pictures regardless if there is a person in it or not.
I agree that pictures without the profiler in it shouldn't be there, but I disagree that only a head shot for the main picture should be valid.
And I don't think it's fair that there has to be a head shot when obviously people are permitted to have no picture.
Not to mention the Forum Moderator who only has one eyeball showing. It's intimidating and unsettling. | |

Posted: 4/9/2007 10:20:59 AM | I've had a lot of fun on this site, met a lot of people. It's a real shame about the way it's run, and the direction the 'admin' seems to continually head. I mean, when you log on he actually brags that he still runs it out of his house? Are you mad? You should be ashamed you lack the business acumen to make this a truly great site. But I digress.
The better, and more enjoyable sites, out there try to impose as few restrictions and censorship as possible. It makes it fun. When someone goes too far there's a report feature. If someone wants to post a pic of their pet, what harm does that possibly do? This site should be about demonstrating personality. It's not a statistical dating generator, as the admin seem to believe.
This, by the way, is such a romantic tagline to a picture: "Report image as not human or headless torso" Oh yeah, baby, gets me in the mood. Ha ha, you can't make this stuff up. Dear lord, the admin's a genius. | |

This will start to make the "Only allow users with images to message me" restriction useful. And perhaps a image only search.
How about we change the search heuristic a bit? To ... "Only allow users with clearly visible facial images" AND only allow reporting of those images that return with THAT search. ???? I understand the need for some people to have that option. However, people who like me want to attract a certain person based on other important factors, other than my mug shot. I seldom make first contact, and if the person requires a photo, I send one with my inquiry. And the best thing .... As always ... You never have to open any mail you don't want! DELETE
I'm looking to attract someone out of the ordinary ... Someone who may post a cartoon, a dog lover, or someone creative ... the best thing in life ... the POWER OF CHOICE. Otherwise with the newly enforced rule, we are all just nameless faces in a sea of fish. And to answer why don't I just delete my photos if I don't want anyone to see my face? ... That is fine for you just not for me .... Photos of scenery, a big eye, a tiger ... get way more response than any face photo, or no photo I've posted, and they have all been people I enjoyed talking to ... so it worked for me ... I don't want just a blank screen! Do you want a TV with a blank screen? You would change the channel right? I don't want to be a public star, just a star to the right mate!
Use the report profile link to report users who have a proper main picture but the rest are cartoons or joke pictures. Time and time again I've seen that those kind of users have absolutely no interest in using the site as a dating site. Also be sure to report all shirtless guys missing a head. A good 70% of those photo's are fake.
I'm no joke and I'm 100% serious about finding the right woman ... the right woman ... she won't demand a photo of me just to say HI! She will read my profile, chuckle, smile and say "that guy is interesting", and "he has some cool photos" ... and contact me. If she is not, she will skim over my profile, just like all the other WINDOW SHOPPERS .... Does that harm her in some way?
As far as shirtless guys, shirtless girls, girls wearing thongs ... in general, people amazed to see themselves on a web-cam .... there are people looking for them too ... Just not me ... so I skim over them. No-One must click on any profile, so what is the harm? (One question .... how does this one user in my state have 16 photos???? All but one was of her torso, but she changed them now to include her face)
As far as other photos of dogs, cats, RV's, lakes, trees, whatever, whatever ... there is interest in that too ... It's all about selection ... and the watchful eye of the selector ...
Markus ~ Admin "The Big Fish" has the right to impose any rules he wants ... It's his baby ... I'm just looking for him to explore some less invasive avenues ... Why do I continue to "whine" because I believe I'm right, and you asked .... there has got to be a better way ... You're a master programmer, with an enormously popular site ... the answers will come, with the responses you receive. Thank You for hearing me.

Oh well ...move on Id rather see a face shot of the person whos profile Im checking out.Or a body shot with a head.Two heads can get you deleted for sure lol.Sorry if my headless torso offends anyone.I assure you Im human.
Tho a couple of dates I have had I wonder if I should question their place on the planet, sure fooled me if they were human, he had a head but didnt use it. Does this make him headless?Mindless more like it.LOL reporting someones pic for not being human too funny!
If they show animals , cartoons, sunsets what ever like a moderator said: just say it in the profile,what you like and then email the pics if you get a conversation up and going.
Marcus is doing a bang up job for keeping this free for us all and I think we all need to just get a grip and go with the flow its no big deal to show yourself to others.How else are we to know who you really look like.Tho some old pics from 10/20 years ago are really out of the question.Keep with the times please!! | |

I bet you would all be pretty pissed if the admin just got fed up of all your whinning and just shut the site down? If you don't like the rules try to find another site like this one? PEOPLE this is a free site, I haven't found any "pornbots" on here, or anyone asking for money to get out of thier country so they can come here! AllI've found on this site are some really nice people. So just follow there rules and be happy!
Now lets all get back to fishing!!

Anyway I wasnt trying to mislead anyone, it was just a cute picture of a dog, from a dog lover. I can live with the picture not being used, but I dont think anyone had a problem with it or were they offened by it. Maybe the guidelines can be tweaked a bit. This has been by far the best online dating site I have used and like I said I can live with the way it is.

Again remember its free and no one is being tied up or locked into the site !!!!!!!

Posted: 4/9/2007 11:42:11 AM | If your idea of staying anonymous is to hide the fact that you're hiding something---like being married or ugly or 500 lbs overweight then most have no pic at all.
Personally, I don't want to date your dog or your cat or see a photo of some waterfall you saw on vacation 5 years ago, ---most of us here are here to date. I want to see your FACE not your behind, not your crossed legs, not your ear or your eye or your weenie---I want to see your face! If you can't show your face there's a reason---you have something to hide.
I've worked in public places: stores, restaurants, child care situations, housekeeping and other highly public jobs and kept the photos of my face online. I never had problems with anyone looking for me, bothering me at work or stalking me because they recognized my photo online. Your store has SECURITY on duty, so does the local mall, etc. If you want more visability for your profile, a pic is necessary---period. So either stop whinning  about the fact that prospective dates would like to know in advance if they're attracted to you physically ---your face----not your A.ss, not your legs, not your ear etc. If you can't get over that then maybe you shouldn't be online dating to begin with!
As for ladies in lingerie portraits, those DO get excellent viewng results.  I've had "regular" face shots and even full body pictures here and my new lingerie shots have gotten me far more replies than I've had before. Lingerie photos can be tasteful as mine are---but men are attracted to lingerie...sorry if you have a problem with that. again so sorry stop whinning and decide if you want to date or to sit home in front of your computer every week end with a box of kleenex crying that you are again dateless!
personally---if a man responds to me and he has no picture or his picture is of bugs bunny or some place he was at on vacation I don't even bother to read his letter I delete it because if he can't show his face there is usually a married reason or 500 lbs of you wont like this to hide!
you may or may not like the fact that I came right out and said what most of us think 365 days a year when we view these sights, but it's like this---  I aint gonna lie! that's how I see it and that's how others who I've talked to about this feel.

Posted: 4/9/2007 11:54:59 AM | Well Sassyredhead....if you're sooooo much into the face shots being featured as the main profile pic (because that IS what this is about), then you might want to get rid of the boob shot straight down your blouse you currently have up and replace it with one of your face pics.
I have to admit that I really do like the filter ability to filter out emails from those without pics up. I stated in my profile that I reply to all emails (and I do) with pics in the profile or pics in the 1st email. BUT, I still get lots of emails with no pic. Now I have that filter on so that's a few less emails to reply to.
What I don't like is the requirement that our main profile pic be of our face. My leg shot was pretty harmless, and it was my legs. I put it up mostly because I thought it was fun and had always gotten a laugh out of replying to someone in the forums with a foot, leg, ass, eye, cat, cartoon, etc. shot. All my other pics do show my face.
The fakes that I've come across on here are the ones who put up models pics, or movie star pics. With the new requirement, I suppose I could stick the leg shot up with my head pasted onto one of my feet and it'd fit the rule, and I might do that just because.
I don't think anyone is upset that we have the new filter. Everyone is upset because non porn pics were deleted. For some (like me), they had the rest of their pics of them in the profile. For others, a pic of a beloved animal, artistic impression, etc. replaced the "no photo at all" option they felt most comfortable with.
I think a better rule would be that at least ONE photo has to be of your face/body. That would still make the great new filter useful for those of us who don't wish to receive emails from people without a real pic up somewhere in their profile. | |
