Posted: 4/21/2009 1:35:28 PM | I hate to even touch on this subject but being a retired cop, narc, and presently a criminal court bailiff, i have seen a lot of the bad side where a black dope dealer will get a white barbie doll strung out on his dope just so he can have a trophy girl friend to show off to his buds. On the other hand I have had black lady friends. I think our choices are perhaps based on the way we were raised. For instance:
When I was a boy, the word "" was quite common, although I don't ever recall my dad using it, then people graduated to the word "Negro" and some used "Darkie" and some when referring to older black friends referred to them as "Auntie "so and so and "Uncle "
so and so", then the words graduated to "Blacks" and then to "African
Americans." It seems as if no one can make up their minds. I hope I don't sound like a racist, but I take issue with the term "African American" because most who use that term have never even visited Africa and are only Americans, but if based solely on country of origin of our ancestors, then call me "German, Slovak, English, American."

There's a lot of truth to this. From what I've seen, some black people actually find the term African American offensive for that very reason. They're the only ones who get some country of origin tacked onto their race description. We don't really call anyone else German Americans or Irish Americans or Asian Americans. Why do we single them out?
Not only that, but as Larry Elder once pointed out, black people go back further in this country's history than a lot of people from other countries. If anything, they're more American than a lot of people. So tying the word African to their race title is ridiculous. | |

She told me my diesel needs more bling, omg i have more chrome and diamond plate on that truck than any i have ever seen around here!!!
I can't afford new rims, but i did threaten to get some curb fealers. I look ridiculous driving a truck with International Harvester decals, stacks, and mud bog tires on a dually to the black side of town... specially to drop her off, i have been escorted by the police 2 out of 3 times, there and back. It's ok though i guess.
all in all it's, kinda cool, i think my dad had an orgasm though when they met, he aint talking to me much anymore. | |

It tends to become one culture being superior to another. Fear play's a role with culture as we do have with the Middle East at the moment. I have nieces and nephews who are American living in Saudi Arabia. They are bi-racial being Palestinian/Causasean ( Heinz 57) It is the new predjudice in our country. When my sister comes over for a visit she feels the need to take off her covering due to the "looks" and her husband encourages it too as he wants to fit in. She has converted to Islam. They have been married over 20 years, I too had problems with her conversion. I needed to educate myself as to what Islam is. Knowledge displaces fear. Would I myself convert? No, nor do I believe her soul is damned because she isn't Christian. It goes beyond color to be honest, and if we choose to live in blind ignorance to different ideas there will always be that great divide.
Funny thing about the children born to bi-racial couples, the love you feel for them forces you out of your protective blind shell. | |

I really think much of the difference lies in the fact that most american blacks cannot trace their ancestory farther than the continent of africa. No way to distingish even what part so i think that maybe plays a part though i dont quite understand why. Frankly the white and black terms while non offensives just seem kind of awkward to me. African American sounds kind of forced and unnatural. I wish i could go, oh yeah im part armenian and i have african roots in sudan or something but i also wish i was a millionaire. Caucasians shouldnt take for granted knowing where you come from, im always jealous of people that can go back to the old country. | |

Posted: 4/23/2009 8:51:10 PM | There are wonderful DNA tests now that are specifically targeted to "African-Americans", that tell, very specifically how much "Caucasian", "African", "Native American", or "Asian" blood an individual has, and those same tests can actually pinpoint what part of Africa an "African-American" has his or her origins in.
And you would be amazed how many "African-American" people have almost as much "Native American" or "Asian" bloodlines as they do "African", although they might not "look the part....."
And there are many Caucasian people who have been shocked to learn that they have "African" blood, too.......
So I don't know about that "racial purity" stuff......I would rather date someone who has "spiritual purity"......which has NOTHING to do with his skin color....

I would love to do dna testing to find out just what kind of mongrel I am... hehe... I think it would be fascinating to discover. I do geneology research and sometimes what the family says isn't always what is... so I have gone on many a wild goose chase but it's still fun.. I'm kind of glad that I chose now ( since lot of them are gone now) and they probably wouldn't care to find out the truth as they held on strongly with pride of who they thot they were...
I am thinking of getting dna testing on my dog too... since he doesn't look collie... lmao...

but seriously.... one reason why I choose from different races is because I don't want them hurt by my family (my grandma to be exact) She hates Asians and she's not too kind with African Americans (lucky for me, she loves Mexican's like I do!) (you may ask why my grandma's opinion matters.... it's because I live with her helping her live on...)
I have to add though, if I did find an African American or Asian guy I really liked, I would not rule them out... if it was like true love.... I'd just limit their time with her to as little as possible..... | |

One would call your query a quest in nievete. A preference of RACE is like any OTHER preference. I prefer submissiveness, regardless of race. Others prefer an olive-green complexion, to be reflected by a total eisssued mass. I over-obsessed benieath them, I notice there is something amiss.
