| Snoring!! Posted: 6/24/2008 1:04:18 PM | Thanks for the update, trev01us. I was wondering how the surgery went. Glad to hear you are healing well.
Since I never responded to the original thread, I'm adding this in: I can deal with snoring, even that of the worst kind, but I would encourage him to see a doctor to make sure it's not sleep apnea. He, however, would apparently need to sleep through my grinding my teeth (according to my dentist and a couple of ex-boyfriends).

| Snoring!! Posted: 6/24/2008 2:12:30 PM | Ok I have woke myself up snoring...and when your BF tells you I think it's cute you know he's lieing... But if I lay on my side I still do it. Usually if I'm dog tired I snore or if I have a cold. I don't snore all the time. You could have a sleep disorder go get checked out. | |

| Snoring!! Posted: 6/28/2008 4:51:15 AM | Duct tape is not the same as those snoring nose thingies. Those snowing nose thingies have a built in spring that holds the nasal passage open and yet still alow expanding and contracting.
Duct tape has none of the above's abilities and in fact can be considered an external obstruction as your nasal passages are restricted from expanding .
Ear plugs don't work for me. Usually if I get to sleep first, its not a problem but if I don't its a BIG problem, specially if the breathing pattern is Cheynes Stokes or some of the sleep apnea patterns.

| Snoring!! Posted: 6/28/2008 5:12:56 AM | OP - the posters who have already mentioned are spot on about the possibility of sleep apnea. Please talk to your doctor about ordering a baseline sleep study from a comprehensive sleep disorder lab to rule out or confirm it. Far more concerning than the snoring is that if you do in fact have obstructive sleep apnea, left untreated there are serious increased health risks associated with it.
Either CPAP or BiPAP is the usual modality used to manage sleep apnea. In some cases surgery, but I would get more than one opinion should that be recommended.
Loud snoring is a frequently directly related to sleep apnea (part of the airway basically collapses during sleep which causes the obstruction which results in snoring). Not always - but frequently.

Bottom line im not afraid to say this but i snore .....I'll bet you sleep on your back? I snore too, in fact I wake myself up! The best solution is to lay on your side and put pillows in between yourself and your g/f to prevent you from rolling onto your back. This works for me only I use the cat in lieu of a pillow!

| Snoring!! Posted: 6/30/2008 12:47:13 PM | Thanks Hugs*N*Hisses and FlyOntheWall, for the concern and well wishes. I saw the doctor today and I actually get to start eating real food at the end of this week YIPPIEEEEE.
flyOnthewall actually most people who have sleep apnea from what I've been told tend to be deep sleepers, he propably would never even know that you grind your teeth.
