| Saying I love you without having even met Posted: 4/18/2007 4:26:56 AM | I have been chatting to a man on the net and via phone everyday for 9 years, we have never met face to face but we have a very strong relationship..we know each other better than some married couples probably do..I tell him I love him all the time and I do as my Best Friend. | |

| Saying I love you... Hmmm Posted: 4/18/2007 5:15:48 AM | | I believe that people can fall in love on the net but how do you really know that the person you fell in love with is really the person you think they are. The net is a great way to hid who you really are and i believe that you cant really fall in love till you know them in person. I am not saying this because i would wanna know if they are good looking or not but i feel that the net is just to easy for people to someone their not. So how do you really know you are falling in love with the real them???????? | |

| Saying I love you without having even met Posted: 4/18/2007 6:30:58 AM | Hmm..I have done this
I say it, if I'm thinking it, without any hesitation. However, I usually explain to the person that Im just saying what Im thinking, but logically we both know it can't be true. However, it feels good to say it and does he mind?
He usually says no and starts saying it too. :)

| Saying I love you without having even met Posted: 4/18/2007 6:35:55 AM | Haaaa! I have friends here who I love dearly; most of them I've never met....they know it and there's nothing wrong with that! I think that there has to be more than the person we know and love in our mind....nothing beats that one on one "real time"....but one can love on many levels. I think that to fully "fall in love" with someone you need more than the affair behind a computer screen and a phone reciever....
On the other hand....I love everyone!

| Saying I love you without having even met Posted: 4/18/2007 6:43:04 AM | | I talked to a women for 3 months (over the phone) and I did love our conversations but when we met....her laugh was so loud that it scared my kids and my horses...My neighbor called to ask if I was alright. This may sound like a dumb or even shallow reason for not forming a relationship with her but it was embarrassing .... people would look at her funny...I broke her heart with the friendship word but I thought about it and even cried about it. I think you should not make any decisions until after you meet.... | |

| LMAO @ E-LOVE Posted: 4/18/2007 6:54:19 AM | OK I can say I have been online first as a forum poster, and then a chatter, and then back to forum posts... for MANY YEARS!
I have seen - IT ALL. E-love, cyber love, whateverrrrrrr you wanna call it.
I have seen people 'date' online for weeks/months, exchanging ILUs and all - having never even met IN PERSON AT ALL.
I have this same phenomenon EVEN with people who haven't even seen each other on WEBCAM!! YESSSSSSSSSS! JUST BASED ON PICTURES!
I really don't know what it is about the internet that makes people lose their damn mind, but I think it is the FALSE SENSE OF INTIMACY it creates. You feel like you know the person - BUT YOU REALLY HAVE NO IDEA.
Which is WHYYYYYYYYY I almost advocate meeting quickly, and SOON so as not to build up false illusions in your head.
ME PERSONALLY - I've only told CLOSE 'online' friends I 'LUV'D them - and NOT in a romantic manner!

| Saying I love you without having even met Posted: 4/18/2007 1:03:20 PM | attraction has a lot to do with that certain indefinable physical SOMETHING about the other person. You may be in love with their minds, but unless those pheromones and chemical reactions are all in order once you both get to the meeting point, it likely aint gonna happen.
oh.. good point previous posters.. loving somebody and BEING in love is not at all the same thing. I love my kids, I love my boss at work cos she's nuts, but being in love? ahhhh.. that's a whole nother ballgame there.
ya'll | |

| Saying I love you... Hmmm Posted: 4/18/2007 2:32:13 PM | I have some internet friends that I do love dearly. Not to be confused with BEING in love.
I think telling someone "I Love you" (especially if you both really have a connection going) is not bad but if it is followed by "Will you marry me?" or "Will you have my babies?" then we gots issues baby!
Cheers! Mark | |

| Saying I love you without having even met Posted: 4/18/2007 3:34:05 PM | I believe there's two kinds of love, friendly love and romantic love.
Friendly love is where you dont know that you'd ever be serious with that person but you care enough about them to not want them to get hurt, want the best for them, would comfort them, do anything for them, and such. Much like a family member.
Romantic love is well, just that. Where your whole heart and soul are tied around them.
I think they probably meant the first one, because they thought the other was a caring, thoughtful person that was valuable to them.
But I do believe that there is no set time frame for the second type to happen. Love at first sight/meeting is quite rare but it does happen. Love after a short amount of time to realize what that person means to you and what you mean to them, VERY possible. Happens often. Don't knock it. Not everyone has this happen at the same time in a relationship.

| Saying I love you without having even met Posted: 4/18/2007 3:42:09 PM | The guy sounds desperate. I can understand being interested, or perhaps intrigued is a better word, by someone you've chatted with online. But LOVE without ever sharing space with the person? If I were you, I wouldn't have any more communication with him at all - but that's just me. I'm not interested in nursing an emotionally immature person through adulthood. | |

| Saying I love you without having even met Posted: 4/18/2007 4:20:33 PM | Everyone has made valid points. I agree with posters as far as different kinds of love .... and after meeting this guy ... it wasn't long before he wanted to move in !!! THAT sent me running as a potential mate. We probably all know people who just HAVE to have someone ... he was one. I am not! LOL We are still friends ... for now.
As pretty much everyone has stated ... being "in love" ... the kind of love you feel for a significant other/spouse ... I truly believe you HAVE to have physical contact for a while before you can say "I am IN love with you". Not 3 weeks after chatting on a dating site !
Happy to all !!! Thanks for the input

| Saying I love you without having even met Posted: 4/18/2007 4:59:21 PM | soberkitty, I met this guy on line a while ago and thought I had found the one. We saw each other everyday for 2 weeks and then... we spent 2 nights and 3 days at the beach and I found out I can't stand him. I don't even want to talk to him again. He grosses me out. So be careful and take things slow. Good Luck | |

| Saying I love you without having even met Posted: 4/18/2007 6:19:59 PM | When someone becomes special to me I can easily feel love in my heart for them, that doesnt mean I am romantically in love with them. Yes you can love things about them, their qualities, how they make you feel. How can you feel passionate love if you have never met? In order to be in love with someone you have to truly know them, spend time with them, admire and respect them. | |

| Saying I love you... Hmmm Posted: 4/18/2007 8:07:49 PM | Some people mistake an emotional attachment for love i did it a few years ago but i know better now | |
|
| Saying I love you... Hmmm Posted: 4/19/2007 12:12:34 AM | I still believe in the romance of love...and will only say it when I feel it. Never On-line, it's just not as real as in person. | |
|
| Saying I love you without having even met Posted: 4/19/2007 12:40:27 AM | Do not think it can be love- maybe infactuation or strong like but not enough to have love!
I would even caution against this based just on talking on the phone...I conversed with someone for 6 months-spoke every night 2-3 hours- finally we met and there was NO chemistry. ( yes, we knew what each other looked like prior to meeting). Just was one of those weird things- amazing chemistry on the phone but nothing in person....guess our pheromones did not mix well!

| Saying I love you without having even met Posted: 4/19/2007 6:08:14 PM | It depends how long you've been communicating with someone - if it's a short time, then I'd run the other way, real fast! Real love takes time and you have to usually meet in person and do things together to know if you really love someone or not. Some people only love someone until there are problems - then they change.
I had a guy once tell me too quickly that he loved me - it turned out that he was very insecure, had low self-esteem, etc. I broke it off after 3 months. Just because someone says they love you doesn't mean that they actually know what true love is all about. Insecure love is not love at all, to me. First you have to truly love and accept yourself, get over your insecurities, etc. before you can truly love someone else - otherwise, it's fake love to me.

| Saying I love you without having even met Posted: 4/19/2007 7:25:07 PM | Whether you first meet this person online, and chat, email, talk on the phone...or meet them..pumping gas....or in line at a store. Wherever the contact is, whatever it is...your exchanges are mostly...words. Either conversation or written. And yes, not just words but actions...being there when they say they are...calling up when they say they'll call..words play a greater role in the whole dating and mating scenario than most even acknowledge or give credit to. Pfft...I'll just spit in the wind and be thankful that Billy Shakespeare is dead. It's only words...anyway. | |

| Saying I love you without having even met Posted: 4/19/2007 8:48:47 PM | | I think there is a big diffrence in being in love with someone and just acutally loving the person for who they are from the inside and then out, I think that is the only kind of love ....well real love anyways...bla bla bla | |
|
| Saying I love you without having even met Posted: 4/19/2007 9:03:25 PM | | Thats a sign of desperation..it also explains my lonely existance..use my analogy..if you say you love everyone..you will find love..but not in this town my love..oh did i say i love you..well i do and i ment ever word...not..this only go,s to prove that love messes you up..its better to like someone first..the love will come eventually..I wonder why i,m single..? ps i love you!!! | |
