| Women with Tattoo's Posted: 4/28/2007 12:04:45 PM | Actually I think shes one woman who won't lol..... she owns several tattoo shops and shes married to a tattoo artist as well...... shes made it her life...... which is awesome because she does some great work and wont do the mundane "usual" tattoo lol she usually talks someone else into doing it she does some of the best portrait art...... and hits it on the nail with how exact she can be....... Ms Livy I must say I have looked at your ink and I do love it I would love to see your other piece.... I'm still in the creative process of my back piece I'm not going to start it untill I'm completly happy with it and all Attributes of it.... | |

| Women with Tattoo's Posted: 4/28/2007 2:41:50 PM | I believe Kat is back in California now. If I were to get a potrait done it would only be done by her. | |
|
| Women with Tattoo's Posted: 4/28/2007 3:36:51 PM | i love kat von d...
she is back in cali - she's no longer going to be doing the show... strictly black and white is what she does and she is the absolute best at doing portrait work... definitely an amazing woman and accomplished a lot for a mere age of 25!
she was working at chris garver's shop in l.a. - true tattoo... but she's opening her own shop - high voltage tattoo... so if you wanna get work done by her, she's local!!
thanks brattitude, on the compliment... i eventually want to get some more work done... my other piece is just about finished - i'm going in for one more session, to get another dose of white ink on the koi (a lot of the ink didn't stick while i was healing so one more layer) and some more work on the wind bars to make the trasition a little more seamless... as soon as it's complete, i'll post a pic
wreckless1 - i'm actually not working in the field of marketing... it's what i'm studying in school (my major ) i graduate at the end of may... my career objective is actually going to be in buying - in the fashion industry... but to make in the field, you gotta understand the demographics of the market you're buying for - which comes into play the subjects i study in school (i.e. consumer behavior) it's pretty interesting stuff...
have a great weekend, everyone!!

| Women with Tattoo's Posted: 4/28/2007 7:26:53 PM | Sillylivy, let me say, I've been duely impressed with your intellectual responses, to the subject at hand. You certainly appear to be well schooled and have some first hand knowledge about the field of generational marketing.
So you have at least modified my some what bigoted view of individuals who indulge in tattoos and body adornment. You certainly do not fit the profile of an irresponsible tattooed Harley rider, screaming down the Freeway between cars, like they have God riding in the jump seat ! ( My pet name for these individuals is "Involuntary Organ Donors" ~~~ IOD's.)
So thanks for the frank and intelligent inter-change of information. By the way, I viewed your profile and those are some spectacular tattoos. I guess I would classifiy that as "Body Art Work", not just a tattoo ! I can only begin to imagine the pain and suffering you must have to endure to have that much art work done to your body.
You have my admiration and respect Sillylivy and I have indeed learned a thing or two. ........Thanks again, and have a great weekend. ........ C U

| Women with Tattoo's Posted: 4/30/2007 4:13:43 PM | thanks haplucky4...
i'm glad to have been able to correspond with you on the subject... and i'm glad that you've opened your mind a bit about tattooing and piercings... not all of us are lumped into your classification of "IOD"'s (there's more like me out there i have quite a few classmates very much like myself)
and now that you've seen my body art, thanks for realizing that it is art
for all those that have asked about the current piece, i've posted a pic... it's just about completed - just one more session for a few final touches...
cheers! | |

| Women with Tattoo's Posted: 5/30/2007 8:21:41 AM | Haplucky4 - i know the subject's been dead now for about a month but i just had to share with you!!
i was reading Fortune magazine on my flight out to Oahu this past weekend and i came across an article that may be of interest to you...
it's about Gen Y and their coming into the business world - pretty interesting... it goes into the description of a typical Gen Y'er and what to expect of them as an employee (some of it is good, some is bad - not a whole lot that i didn't already know)
i don't think it's too late to get a copy (who knows, you might already have a subscription - it's recommended reading material for us) supposed to be on the shelf until june 4 - check it out if you get a chance!
(yes, yes - i know... a semi-nerdly post that's almost off topic - sorry!)

| Women with Tattoo's Posted: 5/30/2007 9:12:41 AM | i am pushing 38, and have 3 tattoos. one is around my ankle (floral) and, even working in sales at a VERY edgy healthclub in san francisco, i was asked to keep it covered at all times (which i did not do, as i was one of the top sellers!) i have a large, floral on my lower belly that runs hip to hip. it is extremely tasteful, and held up really well after baby #1, but after baby #2, it will never be the same again (although i am diligently doing my crunches-ha!). the final one is a long, sinewy sunflower that runs along my bikini line...not a whole lot of viewing, but actually elicits some fairly prolonged squinting at the beach, if only because people are trying to figure out what it is. i wouldn't say that i have any regrets, BUT...as i get older, the tattoos certainly don't feel as "right" as they once did, and i think the older you are, the less "acceptable" they are in the mainstream, and they very well may effect job prospects, especially if you live in a conservative area, as i do now (although i hope to make my way back to a big city). there is also the maintenance, which is pretty expensive. if you don't stay out of the sun, they fade, and a i have been told that a touch up for my belly will cost nearly as much as the original, which adds up to about 2 dental fillings for my 3.5 yr. old daugher, who constantly asks, "momma, why you have flowers on your belly?" and, truth be told, when she gets older, i would prefer that she NOT get tattoos. or pierced ears. or low slung jeans.just some things to consider before taking the plunge... | |

| Women with Tattoo's Posted: 5/30/2007 9:53:11 AM | A tattoo just above the lowriders (used to call 'em hip huggers in my day had a cool pair with elephant bell bottoms. Could go to H.S. in bare feet and the teachers did know) is very sexy! Like ankle and cleavage ones too! I want a Mako Shark on my ankle. Has anybody else noticed that Capt. Jack Sparrows' tattoo is actually a swallow?
Party on! | |

Thank you sillylivy, I shall attempt to locate a copy. I hope it says they are prepared to work hard and long hours. By all indications I'm getting from people who I know who have not retired yet, they say the work place is becoming increasingly more and more demanding of time and results. I'm glad I'm retired and out of that pressure cooker environment. I got out with with only a heart attack and a quad bypass, but hey I'm a survivor. ~

| Women with Tattoo's Posted: 5/30/2007 7:59:22 PM | Hey Silly ...Welcome back.... You bounce back and forth alot to Hawaii??
GI generation - 1901-1924 silent generation - 1925-1945 baby boomers - 1946-1964 gen X - 1965-1976 gen Y - 1977-1994 millenials - 1995-2002
I will read that Article in Fortune too....
What happened to Gen Z???? W1
|
| Women with Tattoo's Posted: 5/31/2007 6:56:58 AM | haha well - i guess "millenials" just sounded better than gen z
i don't bounce back and forth to hawaii alot - however... i do like to go away whenever i get a chance... i've been fortunate enough to have gone somewhere every month this year... sadly, i lose all my jet setting privileges come mid-june - i just graduated (yesterday!) and will be starting an internship program with nordstrom's... with that, my freedom with time is revoked no more taking off whenever i feel the urge...
c'est la vie!! | |

| Women with Tattoo's Posted: 5/31/2007 7:11:56 AM | haplucky4 - well - unfortunately, it doesn't say that we're a group that is interested in putting in a lot of time at the workplace... quite the contrary - we're a group that's not so interested in working... however - that said - "This is the most high maintenance workforce in the history of the world. The good news is they're also going to be the most high-performing." we're a group interested in a work-life balance - not completely true that we wouldn't work a 60 hour work week when needed, for the right price - but we just don't want to make it our lifestyle... anyhow - super interesting article as it not only goes into the descriptors of gen Y but also a little about why we are the way we are, what to expect of us, and how companies can attract us as employees... i find it interesting because 1) i'm part of this cohort and 2) i've had discussions on the topic in a few of my marketing classes... just thought i'd share since it gives insight on what to expect of the next generation in business...
sorry to hear about your heart attack and bypass but you're still here with us and that's what matters!

| Women with Tattoo's Posted: 5/31/2007 11:32:22 AM | I don't have any tats, but I have a few nice scars I can show off. I earned every single one. Tattoos, without the ink. | |

It has been mostly dead for a while now. I don't think it was because of those pictures. How many actually followed the links and saw them anyway?
And now for not the quote you were expecting:
