If you are talking about cultural differences, then that's a little different. Just don't confuse ethnicity and physical attraction with having "a lot more in common." This is America for God's sake!!! I don't know any two personalities that are alike based on their culture, unless it had directly to do with values and upbringing.
For instance I was raised Jewish, and I have never dated a Jewish man. Partly because there are so few of them where I live, and partly my sociopathic Jewish mother has given me a negative association with anything Jewish. But as I have grown up, I've learned that my lack of interest in Jewish or any other group of men as a whole is just another way I've restricted myself from finding who truly makes me happy.
I suggest you get over your shallow hang-ups and date whoever truly compliments you from within. | |

It is your life and you should choose whomever makes you feel loved and wanted and safe. Yes I am basically White. I am also Ojibwe and I have some Spanish in me.
Also, there is no scientific evidence for any race other than human. In spite of some small genetic differences caused by cultural isolation, humans from various cultures remain inter fertile and, given the right blood type, can inter-transfuse. The idea of different races of humanity is a myth.

Posted: 7/2/2007 1:55:19 AM | My monster is called "Physical Attraction", that's it, no sterotyping attached. My father is Mexican and I love hime too death and my two boys are half so to attach a sterotype would be degrating my children and I would never do that. .
Pure physical attraction, without giving much thought to true emotional compatibility? Nope, that's never gotten anyone into trouble.......How could I have been so thoughtless? I take it all back.
You guys can say whatever you want to justify why you don't need deeper connections with your partners. To think that physical attraction is of utmost importance in a relationship, simply means you are missing out on the best part of sex and intimacy, which is what I assume we're ultimately talking about here.
I "like who I like" too, sometimes for no rhyme or reason. I just don't see the point in basing your preferences on a system of superficial rules, such as ethnicity, what kind of job they have, what music they listen to, etc. Seems like a no-brainer to me. I supposed if other cultures had this shopping mall mentality when it came to dating, there'd be a world full of people who think they're worth more than having to settle for someone who's less than ideal - and then we'd all be alone.
Pinupprincess, are you at least willing to admit you're not necessarily every guy's ultimate catch either? If so, then I withdraw my arguement, because then you are being truly sincere. I'm not even a guy anyway, so what's the difference? | |

I find people have an expectation of you and when you don't produce they are disappointed. One thing that really "bugs me" is people will ask where I am from, I used to play around with this question! at times I would tell them that I am from barbados. I found with this response I had a longer conversation and they showed more interest in me. Other times I tell them I am from Nova Scotia and its like ok, I have a friend from there, well gotta go now. Whats up with that? | |

I didn't look at your profile, so I don't know where you are, but here in NM, it is EXTREMLY rare to see a 'latina' with a white guy.
The vast majority of them date hispanic (now there's a broad term.....) guys only, a few of them like black guys.
If you're a white guy, even just trying to talk to them or asking them to dance is usually a complete waste of time, so if this is similar in your area, your 'preference' will be very welcome to the white guys who like latin girls.
I'm still not quite sure what 'keepin' it real' actually means, but I'd still say that trying to sound like a 'gangsta' is VERY last week by now........ | |

If you put in "I only date white men," non-white men will be pissed. If you put, I only like thin men," fat men will feel bad.
So, exclude everyone you want. It's not necessarily "wrong." It is wrong to think that people you exclude should feel great about it. | |

Posted: 7/13/2007 12:31:05 PM | Here's what I have to say sweetie....I loved one guy since I was 14...but he's gone now....he was hispanic and very tall.....back in those days (70s) everyone hated us for being together, even our own families.... but we didnt care what they thought....but basically when I first put my profile up here...I plainly stated that I wanted to seek a tall hispanic man....*grins*
My sons, who are mixed race.... accused me of being racist against my own race.....go figure.....anyways....they said how do you know you're only attracted to hispanic guys if Joe (their dad) was the only man I was ever with.....anyways to make them happy....I changed things up a bit.....*grins*
and now....I really like this *white* guy who is tall....on this site....we email back n forth and have a lot of fun....but nothing has came of it yet....anyways....I find myself attracted to him......so maybe they're right....who knows?
