My last g/f of four years is latina and even though it didn't work out still brings a smile everytime I think of her. I love the culture and find the people to be friendly and down to earth. Posted: 12/12/2007 11:01:18 AM | well, there is just a thing as a white latino, a lot of latinos from venezuela, argentina are white in skin tone and are caucasian in general. So to answer your question, no, there is no problem with that. Just keep it real, as in!! keep your eyes open for latin white guy as well. Don't just be turned off because it has latino in the front, I've met a few latin women who say that they are attracted to white men, and only because they are latino and look white.,..they are still latino. So they do not go out with them.

Posted: 3/1/2008 6:57:17 PM | | i wouldnt say its wrong..but to other latinos and latinas they arent going to approve most of the time...especially if its not just a preference but a requirement..i meet alot of latin girls here in texas that only date black guys and thats it. my feelings arent as strong as others..but i know a large percantage of latinos see a girl with someone of another race and view it as not being true to your race...im sure other races are same way for some people anyway. | |

so girl... keep snatching those whiteboys! just leave enough for me as well! 
as for what other "latinos" might think about "our" vanilla flavored ice cream craving... WHO CARES! the only ones that have to approve of your likings are you and the guy youre dating

Posted: 3/1/2008 10:01:47 PM | Not at all! In fact, I am a white guy who definitely enjoys dating Latina women even though I am equally open to dating all races. I speak fluent Spanish and spent a year in Mexico as an exchange student and appreciate the Latin American culture.
Just like some white girls want a black man its all preferences just like I might want chocolate ice cream and another person wants vanilla. Thats also why some men like BBW kind of women and other guys want that super skinny model thin trophy looking lady. | |

what about family....i know all are different...but alot wont accept it...i have known some to refuse to attend wedding....some are even disowned over it.
calihispanictx brings up a great point. Family is very important to many Hispanics. You know the history. Celt-Iberians (people from Spain and Portugal) came to what is now Latin America and brought Catholicism with them. Even though you hear a lot about "la raza", being Latin is more about culture than race, especially in multi-racial Brazil. In high school I was attracted to Hispanic girls, but their families were from Mexico and didn't want to see their women marry "gringos". Some of the Hispanic women I knew in high school are now married to white guys. Some of them had been married to Hispanic guys and didn't care about being cheated on. My grandmother's generation may have put up with womanizing (my grandfather was part-Spanish and was a womanizer [not saying he was a bad guy in other regards]), but my mother's generation (my ex-stepdad was an Italian-American womanizer) and younger don't put up with it. One thing about Iberian men: they like dark women! When the Moors ruled many parts of Spain and Portugal for about 700 years, Iberian men drooled over Moorish women. And when they came to the New World, they drooled over Native women, and that's one reason why there was more race-mixing in Latin America than in North America. Even a pope sanctioned the race-mixing that was going on in Latin America.
In the final analysis, we can't help being attracted to certain people. That's why I have a heritage ranging from Irish, English, German, Spanish, Mexican, Cherokee, and possibly Scandinavian as well. | |

However people can be limiting themselves by having a racial requirement. Sometimes you can be attracted to someone who is different than your usual type. For example, I am usually not attracted to Asian women. But I have seen a few Asian women that I think are attractive. BTW there is a difference between a preference and a requirement. A preference would be "I am usually attracted to group X, but I would consider dating people from other groups". A requirement is "I ONLY date people from group X". | |

As for certain ladies being attracted to white boys, what the hell, I never meet these gals. Oh wait, I do sometimes, but then the requirement turns to tall whiteboys or financially successful whiteboys. Damn multiple requirements! LOL!

Posted: 3/5/2008 6:45:12 PM | calihispanictx and tkdblake93: im not going to say "hispanics" cause i dont know that many to assume that, but, i can say family is in FACT very important to my race. in MY case, my mother is happy as long as i am happy, and if a white/yellow/black/purple/green man makes me happy, then shes all good w that.
now, in the event that my mother or family werent in agreement with MY choice... too bad for them. they lived their life, they dated/married whoever they wanted to date/marry, and through it all, i didnt get in their business so they shouldnt get into mine. i have a job, pay my own bills and am my own person. if my family's love is not strong/smart enough to see past my "preference" then maybe the love they claim is not real.
people get mad, and eventually get over it. time will pass... and people accept . | |
