| Well what the boss says goes.... Posted: 4/17/2007 4:49:50 PM | although as a guy that has paid his fair share of membership, contact, housing, etc fees...I just want to say thanks for having this cool site just the way it is.
I do like the rose idea although I have never used it because it is just not my style but trying the points to each person's movements on the site might be interesting. Sort of a modified XBOX LIVE Marketplace with their Achievement Point System.
That and if the idea of some extra $$$ is needed....just get a link with PAYPAL and ask for some donations.
Have a great week!

| New Winks and Points. Posted: 4/17/2007 4:51:30 PM | | Why not give points to people when they meet, Such as points for a date. Then members can turn there points in at members gatherings or events for gifts, drinks or anything else. Heres how I would do it. Give each member the oppertunity to earn points based on how well they treat their dates. If I have a date and shes really nice I can award her a certain amount of points. If the date is a dud I don't award her any points. She does the same to me. Only allow the point system to be used for first encounters. I have found most people don't want to make an effort unless it convenent or there is a reward. Heres the reward MEET PEOPLE! | |

| New Winks and Points. Posted: 4/17/2007 4:51:30 PM | On the surface this wink thing may seem cool, but I am afraid it is just so impersonal. I mean it is sometimes quite hard to get to know anything about someone on these sights, I receive numerous e-mails that say little more than HI from users with one line profile/bios . I know I like to joke a lot but I do take this seriously. I like the site and do not think this will improve things. I do however agree with [ohiocpa] who suggested that relative distance be displayed instead. I do not know if the effort would be equal but for those of us who are geographically impaired and need a map to judge how far away another user is from us, this would be a huge improvement. I just don't see that winks have any substance, besides how hard is this..... ;o) (o; or this ;) (; Better yet just add a wink icon to all the other fun widgets all ready in place. but wait there it is....I think we are done here!

For those who don't see the purpose of a 'Point System'...it's Simple.
It will reward people who are being active on the site (a good thing)
msg 71 makes a good point above. It's beneficial for ALL users to have any idea that encourages people to log in frequently. Obviously so for admin, but for those looking for prospective dates, as well. Many people sign up, then drop out after a short while, or just check in every month or so, which cuts down on the percentage of appropriate matches for those those seeking.
Great idea, admin!

If you like then wink if you get a wink back then I would take the time to write the email.
How about also adding a blackeye symbol as a possible return shot? Send a wink, get a blackeye, little doubt that he/she <<<< (Not to be confussed with another thread) doesn't wish to continue this romance.

I like you site because it is simple and straightforward and easy to use.
have a great day | |

| New Winks and Points. Posted: 4/17/2007 4:56:37 PM | If it has the same contact limitations as a normal e-mail or IM it seems like it would be a pointless wast of time. The only thing it might do is blow away a min char limit on first contact.
With 60 pts for loging in and 60 more per forum thread It seems like you could build up a lot of them very fast. (Semantics Question: is that 60 per thread or just 60 for your first thread?)
Other than above, how is it going to be different from the roses they seem to build up as well?
With 20 pts per wink you start with 30 winks and and get 3 to a boat load more per day. Burying someone in winks does not seem that hard.
I would personally like it if the e-mails aways gave some kind of feed back as to why they don't show in the sent msgs instead of this.

| New Winks and Points. Posted: 4/17/2007 4:57:08 PM | i'd have to agree here, not to keen on this idea, starting to sound like a pay site. this is the best dating site i have been to and i love it the way it is,if you send a wink then that doesn't tell the person anything about you then your going on looks of a picture alone and they don't get to know the real you. BAD IDEA. | |

| New Winks and Points. Posted: 4/17/2007 5:00:44 PM | I like the system the way it is now...simple and uncomplicated and best of all FREE! Thanks for creating it and for trying to think of new things...winks are always a good deal, but I'm not too sure about the point system, but then again, I can see the point also of not allowing more than one wink a day or something and getting on people's nerves. I also read the note from someone about how far that individual lived from you in miles...that's kinda a cool idea, if it isn't too hard to incorporate. Anyways, thanks for keeping your site FREE and FUN! | |

Points are just used for controlling the number of winks you can send. No point in having users going out and spamming women with 500 winks a day.
I agree that winks would be an interesting new feature and that it is a good idea to limit the number of winks you can send, such as by the point system you mention. However, I think that the point count and point deductions should only be displayed to the account-holder (and to admin and moderators). I don't see the usefulness in having that information being publicly displayed on the profile.

| New Winks and Points. Posted: 4/17/2007 5:05:46 PM | It isn't broken, don't try and fix it. The idea would be okay for a site that charges but a free site, there is no point. Please do not touch, it is good the way it is.

| New Winks and Points. Posted: 4/17/2007 5:07:05 PM | 1st of all: why do we need winks??? I guess the only people who'd benefit from them, are those who are incapable of writing emails. I'll likely never send one, and recieving one really won't turn me on, so I'll vote nay on the wink idea. Perhaps the guys who prefer sending several random "you're hot" emails, will enjoy the winks, I wouldn't
as for the points: Displaying them automatically on a profile seems like a bad idea. People already make all kinds of assumptions from seeing the numbers of favorites listed, or from seeing testimonials appear. (at least the testimonials are the users choice to have them) Another thing displayed on profiles, is just another lead-in to assuptions, and another excuse for a barrage of totally pointless "what does it mean when..... forum threads.
Deducting points for "flagging emails? Do you have the time to monitor every flagged email, to see the validity of the offense? Should points be deducted from the number of points displayed, for petty, unverified, flaggings??????

| New Winks and Points. Posted: 4/17/2007 5:07:17 PM | so what is the purpose of the point system?so u can send a wink to someone and this is supposed to do what? will someone think twice about sending a wink because they have to somehow use points to do it? if ya wanna add something why not add a cards lobby or a games room sorta like msn n yahoo have a social games room for ppl who might not otherwise converse, its a good ice breaker to meet playing a game or 2 and it would broaden the spectrum of the site as well as the notification of how many roses the person has sent i could see if it notified a viewer as to how many roses the person they are looking at recieved but its senseless how many they have sent if anything these lil add ons should inform a possible viewer of how many ppl are chasing the person , not vice versa this way one can make a choice as to waste time pursuing them as well | |

| New Winks and Points. Posted: 4/17/2007 5:07:34 PM | whats so great about a wink? i think its lame and sounds very true.com(which is also lame)
this is a great site and the only thing i could say needs to change is try looking up events for singles going on in the area, and also, mabey delete prestoric profiles (like 2 yrs old profiles kind of thing)
