Posted: 4/18/2007 9:28:27 AM | | I think the winks should be a real picture...I dont mean sending a wink of some sexy blond with tilted head and licking the corner of her mouth....or the guys sending out a picture of a guy tan and shirtless caressing his own six-pack...what I do mean is animals...now I don't mean barnyard animals...so stop the dirty mind...kind-of like a take on "what kind of fish are you?"...there could be 100 different photos of cute or scary or ugly animals winking...a cat, dog, a bear, a chameleon, a frog, a monkey-hey...the nature of the wink could get personal and fun...and for those who are into barnyard animals...yes it could include a rooster or goat winking...but the wink idea could be fun but it has to mean more than romance and a measure of someone's worth. | |

but whatever ... dating sites dont work for me ... the admin can put up all flowers, winks, gifts whatever .. bottom line is .. when someone sends ya a note and the person cant take a minute to respond yeah or nay to it then whats the point ...
again .. at least its a free site .... lotsa ppl here for lotsa diff reasons .. sorry didnt mean to rain on ur happy parade ... thank you again for you kindness ....
my attitude isnt any diff than 99% of the other ppls ... basically all here for the same reason .. I know what I want and Im allowed to be picky and shallow just as the next person | |

If some1 ignores u after you send them a picture of urself it most likely cause they were not interested in what they saw. If u posted ur pic, people would then know who they r talking with and if they would be interested. I personally never reply to ne1 without a pic cause its hard to reply to all ur mail in ur inbox and its easier to just talk with people ur attracted 2. So why not put up a small pic and let the games begin!!!

Posted: 4/18/2007 9:44:07 AM | First the navigation for this "fun stuff" is a bit clunky, and it isn't explained very well.
My first thought was "winks" isn't an original idea, and "winks" isn't going to improve the way the site works. I also don't think the "gifts" make any sense either. The "type of fish" thing, though it is creative and I'll give kudos for that, is a total waste.
I'm not sure if "gifts" or "points" are on other sites, but I don't think it's such a bad thing if it will improve people's response rates, but I don't think it's going to do that--what will happen is the people getting the 100 e-mails a day are now going to get 100 winks and they'll probably just skip over their winks. At least with the e-mails, they sort of had to confront the fact they were receiving those correspondences because the # of new mails was displayed on the front page.
I think it's a better idea to send e-mail to denote interest. Anybody can wink and I don't
think you can see how many points somebody has left, so you don't really know if they are winking just to you or if they are just a chronic winker. E-mail is a WAY better way to denote interest, and it certainly is a better way to indicate your intelligence.
I can see it now: women getting winks from guys with "hunky" false profile pics, she e-mails the guy and finds out he's an idiot, then she'll just ignore the winks after she does that a few times, defeating the entire winking concept.
Now if these "winks" are going to improve the rate which women initiate the correspondences, I'll be in favor of it. Quite frankly I think there are better ways to improve this site's "atmosphere" and make it a more friendly and polite place. At least the Powers That Be are trying, and that should be appreciated by us PoFfers. | |

Flowers one is great along with the two wine glasses. Chocolates are good too. Maybe replace or add a few more. | |

I have many questions.
1) Do winks care about contact restrictions?
1a) If they don't doesn't that make the restrictions obsolete?
1b) Does winking to an IE user effect your never contacted an IE user made contact for sex status?
2) Is there a way or going to be a way to track whom you have winked at?
2a) Based on issues with vanishing e-mail will winks points be maintained if the wink is undelivered. Accountability?
3) Does a wink count as a first contact?
3a) Do subsequent e-mail to wink recip. face the first contact content filtering that seems to cause so much trouble with the e-mail system?
3b) Do subsequent e-mail from wink recip?
4) Admin mentions points having a value beyond winks. If he is being serious, then he is going in a direction with this. Can you give the user base a hint as to that direction?
All in all I smell a lot of a lot of ifs, what fors and why bothers.

I think what I'd be tempted to use the winks for, and I'll have to check out if they can be corrupted over that way somehow, is when I see a post on these message boards I especially like. One I find funny, thought provoking or whatever. Kind of an atta boy or girl as the case may be .
But also I have to say I'm new to all this online stuff, shy IRL, married for most of my adult life so an inexperienced dater on top of it all and maybe a wink at a guy to see if he'd even look at my profile and BE interested might be all I'd have the courage to do. Does that really make me pathetic and undateable? | |

Also while your checking your inbox you also see the guy's and gal's who are signed in and signed on. That's where you should put the age and state they are from as well. You can have your setting to 15mile's away. And still get people that are two hour's away and a different state. That kinda drive's me nutz LoL. Also, with the smile face's LOVE THEM JUST LOVE THEM but when you do a holiday such as xmas. I think you should think of everyone holiday. So some won't get upset!!!!!!! But, either way I still love this site. | |
