Posted: 7/5/2007 4:00:56 PM | I, for one have tried answering everyone who wrote to me, even if I wasn't interested, at least I tried to be nice enough and tell them and in a nice way and I got back some very nasty replies, so I just stopped answering if I knew nothing would come of it. Besides I figure it's easier on people's feelings if they don't get an answer, rather than being told in writing that their being rejected. I for one would rather not get answered at all if someone wasn't interested, doesn't hurt my feelings a bit, because I'm pretty confidant that someday my mr right will come along. May not be today, may not be tomorrow, and may not be on this thing, but someday it will happen and it will happen to us all. | |

Ok so I've figured out how the girls on POF work. It's quite simple, really.

That's why I've come up with a highly scientific formula to find out how many responses to expect back. You take the number of girls you've messaged (Let's say 20) then you divide it by 4. So 20/4=5. You should get 5 responses (On the high end) if you msg 20 chicks.
You sir, are a genius. I won't bother asking you for the ratio of penis-picture to non-penis picture emails you've sent out, as I'm sure a woman in this thread already inquired that of you. Perhaps you've already taken the liberty to provide the ladies in this thread with a formula for minimizing the amount of penis pictures they receive in their email. I'm guessing it would be inversely related to the number of times they used the words "castrate", "neuter" and "industrial accidents resulting in sterility" in their profile, but I shall have to defer to you on that, as you appear infinitely more experienced with the dating calculus than I am.
What I would like to inquire, however, is whether I should take a short position on Microsoft this week. Also, I've been wondering about Donald Trump's Trump Entertainment Resorts Inc. - Is this a good buying opportunity? Do you see mathematical patterns in the comb-over of The Donald that indicate this new 30% drop in share price will soon result in a buying frenzy?
Personally, I think there must be a way to run a mathematical regression on Donald Trump's hairdo which would offer up some valuable info on future stock prices. I'm tellin ya - he's hiding something with that comb-over. I don't know what it is, as of yet, but I intend to find out.
One other thing - personally, I find that my percentages are better than yours even though I don't have a picture up, a condition which is supposed to result in getting one-eight as many responses or so. I'm chalking that up to cheating. I use performance-enhancing drugs in every email I send.
Still, I find your mathematical talents unquestionably ingenius. I eagerly look forward to your input on Donald Trump's comb-over and how we could analyze it for a quick profit on Wall Street.

First of all, to generalize about this is only making you look like a judgemental person and in my opinion that is not attractive..
Second of all, this is in fact the internet and there are more people trying this type of thing out that do not quite know the proper etiquette to online dating. For that matter, does anyone?
Third, if you have already made up your mind that only 5 of 20 women you have emailed will email you back, isn't that a good thing? Would you want to have to choose from 20 emails a day ( a week .. whatever) anyway? Would you respond to all 20? Ask yourself that question and answer it honestly. We all have a type we are attracted to.. each person knows what that may be which is a very personal thing. We all work, or have kids and lead busy lives so answering emails from people we have no interest in is definately not a priority! Get over it! This is your bruised ego talking here. Try to put ego aside and realize that you are no different,, you yourself know who you are not attracted to. I myself wouldn't want to date someone with a chip on his shoulder about CHICKS.. and lump us all into a certain category implying that I am picky and ego inflated because I may not respond to every Tom****and Harry that graces me with an email! Meg, I was with you uptil you said that particular couple of sentences that I just quoted. I wouldn't call this man's ego "bruised" so much as "ripe". It's really a fine distinction and an undiscerning eye might easily mistake one for the other. The way I see it, this man is ripe for a good woman to steer him towards the intricacies of life as a member of a cult. Answer his emails and you've got a leg up on your fellow recruiters. You just have to know how to recognize the likely candidates, that's all. | |

Keep in mind YOU are the one messaging 20 some odd females - I can only imagine the form letter that goes out with those emails. Because, as a woman, I.E. WOMAN - not girl, I would immediately recognize a BOY such as yourself. Man up, get off your own high-horse and be a little picky on your own side of things. It's not quantity - ITS QUALITY. Not all based on looks or what you are about. Its all based on what you can get from it, Weather there good looking, 6 packs. skin tell and all the rest of that bollocks. It all comes down the the people in this world and all countrys.
No one is prefect. I talk too everyone, no matter who they are. just people around the world, think there so it and all the rest of it. Thats why they pick and choose. I will not go in too the break up's. do not need too.. Too have Dating sites, Is for thoses people as well as people who do not have the confortdents too talk too a women or man. But even then, They use the Dating and Fourms too look for really fits guys and women. its a program and brainwashing of years of magizine abusied and shit.
They have been programmed, So just live and learn by it. because if you pile them with mails and get nothing back. You have your answer. There not worth knowing. So you enjoy your time with the guys and gails, that did mail you. Enjoy being with them.

But, because it's just surfing, everyone sets their standards high ... and since men outnumber women about 100 to 1 on this site and 1 in 10 women are either overweight or looking for a new "da-da" for the kid(s), that 1 out of every 10 woman gets messaged by all 100 guys in her area, whether they're fat, old, unemplyed or whatever; no one's going to waste time sorting through at all that email ...
the only thing that's any fun on this site and worth keeping a membership for, is the forums

I don't really expect messages from anyone in my area anyway, I prefer the old fashioned method of dating - human interaction .... the messages I do get I don't really take seriously and usually just delete.... it's just a pointin' an' clickin' good time .... I just like having fun in these forums
