| Paying for dinner date with 2 for 1 coupon. Will she be impressed? Posted: 9/12/2008 11:17:17 AM | I find nothing wrong with utilizing a coupon, however I think common etiquette would be to mention it ahead of time. "Hey...I have a great two for one coupon for this place I have been wanting to try...wanna make it a date?"
Some people HATE coupons...either the time it takes to clip them, or just using one in general seems to make them feel a lesser person??
As far as him saying, "Well here is my half!" OMGawd. Tacky. He could have in the least, offered half of the total bill. People who nitpick over every last cent of a bill, make me cringe!

Coupons are a form of money.
Not exactly...they help you SAVE money, but are of no value, especially a 2for1 coupon.
If you didn't have the coupon, you'd likely pick somewhere else, thus having the coupon forces you to spend money (or in this case, your date's money) at a certain location. Coupons were invented to increase customer loyalty, not to save you money.
This whole conversation brings to mind one of my favorite sayings from a country song:
"You don't bring nothing with you here And you can't take nothing back I ain't never seen a hearse, with a luggage rack"
No sense in saving every penny for retirement if it means you can't have a life until then, and you definitely can't save anything for the afterlife!

Posted: 9/12/2008 11:34:35 AM | Geez, are some guys just dumb?...if you have to use a two for one coupon, go to dinner with your father, mother, brother, sister or a good friend but never, I repeat never, go on a date and use it then!...it shouldn't be a big surprise to a guy when I woman decides not to go on another date with him after he pulls the "coupon caper"...wake up, guys!...

It was a lucky break that he had a coupon for 2 for 1 I can get behind that buttttttttttttttttttttt why didn't he share his good fortune with her and still pay half for the bill? This is like a neon sign in pitch blackness it smells of way cheap lol

| Paying for dinner date with 2 for 1 coupon. Will she be impressed? Posted: 9/12/2008 2:18:32 PM | OMG! Not on a first date. I could see if they were going out for a while and had a tight budget and both of them agreed but not on the first date. What next: would he ask her for half the gas money for picking her up on the next date. Being a former restaurant owner I have seen it all. I used to hate it when the old ladies would come in and ask for water with extra extra lemon and then ask for some sweet and low so they could make a free diet lemonade or watch them ask for extra bread and butter and watch them whip out a ziplock baggie to put it in so they could take it home for their dinner the next day.
If I ever get this bad I surely will shoot myself. I hope your friend didn't go out for a second date.
