| Anime Fans Posted: 6/6/2005 8:03:20 AM | I never saw Gungrave, but Trigun is nice... For me the best anime series I ever saw where Cowboy Bebop, Hikaru no Go (how can someone create a so good series about a board game??), Monster (having finished seeing it), Full Metal Alchemist (although I didn't like the ending) and YuYu Hakusho (the brazilian translation was great). I usually read more manga than I watch anime and I think that usually the manga stories are better. It's hard to say which mangas were the best ones, but some really good are Bokko, Confession, I's, HunterXHunter, and a lot more but I can't remember all the names... | |
|
| Anime Fans Posted: 6/7/2005 11:27:41 AM | I loved Cowboy Bebob (Series). Opening music is also catchy. The movie was ok.
Evangelion was ok for the most part but the final few episodes are, in my opinion, rubbish and story is just WTF?!?!
I like the El Hazard series. Light hearted and fun.
GITS:SAC is currently on my to see list. Still waiting on the six'th dvd for finally finding out what this laughing man thing is all about. (Please don't tell me.) The movies are also very well done.
Record Of Lodus War is not bad. The original series. I'm not too much a fan of what followed it.
You're Under Arrest is also light hearted and reasonably fun to watch. Similarly Oh My Goddess but I think the manga is better for OMG. The movie was alright though.
Trigun was fun to watch and its progressivly serious trend toward the end.
Of the Gundams, I liked 0080 War in the Pocket, and 0083 Stardust Memories. Char's Counter attack is ok but all in all the rest is just ok. 08th team isn't too bad either.
Escaflowne isn't too bad. Note however I watch anime in japanese with english subtitles. I can't stand dubbing. I don't know if it is as good in english. The movie wasn't too bad either but you pretty much have to take it as a separate entity. I hate when they do that.
Kimagure Orange Road isn't too bad. A bit dated.
Original Bubble Gum Crisis is ok as is some of the original Dirty Pair. Dirty Pair Flash is ok too but slightly different.
Akira is pretty good. Manga might be a touch better.
Most everything from Studio Ghibli is excellent. Kiki's Delivery Service, Totoro, Laputa (Not the spanish meaning.), Nausicaa, yadda yadda.
Serial Experiments Lain wasn't too bad. Slow pacing.
Patlabor stuff isn't too bad. Slow pacing though.
Royal Space Force is a pretty good movie. The end sequence is beautifully done.
Hated Rayearth, Fushigi Yugi, Big O and Revolutionary Girl Utena. In R and FY, I swear there was one episode where the main character just said two words. The names of her friends or boyfriend hopefuls. Now there's quality writing for you. All three are terribly formulaic and obviously so. The only redeaming feature of Big O was Dorothy but it isn't enough.

| Anime Fans Posted: 6/7/2005 4:57:01 PM | Lain was BAD, Tecnic/Tecnorize or whatever it was called by the Lain ppl was even worst. I dont know how you ppl watch that garbage FullMetal Al, Inuyasha has 6 good episodes total out of the 125 i've watched. They took a story and never ended it, how stupid could the creater and writers be.
My favorite anime of ALL times, and im still waiting on one to beat it, IS Berserk. If you havnt seen it, do so. The story is the best, uncomplete but the best. Music was on point as well. I downloaded all the Mangas for that one. Im not a comic book man but i had to read this one.
Vampire Hunter D is my #2 since movie 1 was the thing that turned me on to anime in the first place. Movie 2 is even better but they used top technology to make it.
Im about to go watch Ninku, i hope its good.

| Anime Fans Posted: 6/19/2005 9:35:17 PM | damn cuz I cant stand the new Fist ONS. I think its just some garbage ruining a good anime's name.
Ronin warriors used to be my shit. Them boys saying something like Thow Chi! lol. thats what i remember the most.
Tenchi muyo makes me sick, all animes like that do. If your going to be around 10 hot anime chics the best be ****n something. Even the lil cat smurf thing wanted to **** him.

| Anime Fans Posted: 6/25/2005 5:26:17 PM | I found myself in conversation with a friend about anime and had a great memory flashback.
Back when I was much younger (about 30 years ago), I used to watch a very cool series on UHF channel 47 (pre-cable). Being hispanic, my family would watch the spanish channels on television (those that were available). On saturdays at about 7 or 8 pm, the spanish station would sign off and would be replaced by Nippon television. This is when a series would run every saturday called "Raideen". I found later that the robot Raideen was actually one of the original Shogun warriors (remember the tall robots they made toys out of in the late 70's - early 80's).
This is back when I was 10 years old. Raideen was the first character to replace Gigantor as a favorite for me. Yes ... I was one of the first anime fans I knew. I was lucky to have most of my friends be from Japan and Taiwan at the time. It made it easier to actually converse about these things with people that really knew who these characters were (are).
It's so cool to see how popular this animation style has become ... and continues to become.
I also really liked: Ninja Scroll ................................................fav characters - Jubei and Kagero Urotsukidoji - Legend of the Overfiend ............fav character - Omino Jaku
Anime is what all animation should strive for - not so much in its expression based on style ... but for the envelope it pushes as a story-telling art form. It's great ... and I will always be a fan of it.

| Anime Fans Posted: 7/13/2005 4:15:33 AM | There's a few animes/mangas I like. I can't think of an absolute favourite as I like too many, but two of my favourites are Akira, and Kaneda from Akira. I also liked Noriko from GunBuster. Both animes are really deep and well thought out, and GunBuster is equally tragic and positive. The idea of having the last hour or so in black and white was a stroke of genius. Those two are probably two of my favourites.
As far as mangas go, i've only read Hack:Legend Of The Twilight and volume two of Chobits so i'll say Hack is my favourite so far, but that could change.
|
| Anime Fans Posted: 9/19/2005 10:05:14 AM | I am something of a more casual anime fan. My first introduction to anime was with the big robot movies in the late 1970's and I have always liked them. My favorite anime of all time would have to be AKIRA (both the movie and the graphic novel). I am a very big fan of the Robotech series (the north american jack mckinney version and the japanese macross and macross plus versions). The animation is of course dated for the most part but it is the storylines that draw you in as well as the sophisticated character development (you know aliens invade, humans fight back and lovely anime pin-up songstress saves the day).
I believed I left anime behind 10 years ago (with the exception of the ghost in the shell series) but I have recently come across gundam seed and gundam seed destiny which have gotten me hooked (if you must know I have time-shifting and when coming back home from the bar it was the only thing playing amongst other things at 3 in the morning :-P). Once again great character develop....wait a minute....should I be writing out all of this stuff...hmmm....
|
| Anime Fans Posted: 9/19/2005 10:29:54 AM | I like anime but I've only enjoyed 6 different ones. dragonball z(screaming faggots I know, irratating but fun more often then not. dragonball and dragonbal gt both sucked.) inuyasha(pretty cool characters and semi entertaining story) patlabor and ninja scroll, pretty old but excellent stories. my favorite is either witch hunter robin or gundam wing. the original, the new gundam seed and the other gundam show suck, gundam wing was amazing though, short but excellent story and animation. Robin though is just the kind of character you can fall in love with and you really felt sorry for and the series was more thought provoking and interactive then watching some mind numbing, all be it pretty, explosions. I kind of like sesshomaru though, interesting character. | |

| Anime Fans Posted: 9/19/2005 7:21:06 PM | GTO(great teacher onizuka) X was good too.... my new fav. cute anime is Midori no Hiro(midori days)
Naruto is a hard working character but I like Hinata hehehe she has hopeless love
|
| Anime Fans Posted: 10/19/2005 4:31:36 PM | Well, having now read all of Chobits I can safely say that Hack is still my favourite manga series so far. Hehehe.
I've started reading Yu-gi-oh now. I've got volume 2 and I was amazed at how different Yami (The Pharoh) is to the anime TV series. Yami is a nut job in the manga, not the noble Pharoh of the tv series
and I love it
BTW read the first Warcraft manga. Great if you're familiar with the Warcraft story
|
| Anime Fans Posted: 10/21/2005 10:09:27 AM | I've watched some nice animes recently and also gave naruto a try while i was at it - WOW! Now I know why it's so popular! The fight scenes aren't just mindless fights as much as they are strategic and crafty! Too bad I still have to wait for it to finish. This anime is going on LONG!
An anime similar to Naruto would be Slam dunk. Rukawa Kaede -> Sasuke (both sharp, intelligent, and unapprochably aloof). Haruko -> Sakura (both caught in the love triangle). Hinamichi -> Naruto (Duh. I swear they must be born from the same author. Somebody must have committed plagiarism.)
Kimi ga Nozomu Eien is definitely a must watch, if you guys like feeling the drama and emotions while watching beautifully portraited scenery and characters.
One other recently watched anime that I'm very impressed by is DN Angel. Both anime and manga is extremely impressive, and I was very satisfied reading about the characters as they develop throughout the story. (My favorite character is Satoshi Hiwatari. It doesn't show that he's actually with human emotions until the end - but until then, I thought he was just aloof. Definitely one of the most interesting and complex...and hot character in manga history <3333)
Gantz - a little confused by this manga. Are the people who're in the game dead or alive? If they died and ended up there, why are they worried about dying all over again if they're dead? Hmmmmmmm.
|
| Anime Fans Posted: 10/21/2005 10:20:44 AM | | P.S anybody ever become obsessed with a particular character? (Needless to say I've already explicitly implied how much I'm obsessed over Satoshi...if only I can find other characters like him) | |
|
| Anime Fans Posted: 11/1/2005 4:05:19 AM | I don't think i've ever been obsessed by an anime character, though I do have my favourites. Akito and Ruri from Martian Successor Nadesico. Akito because he's funny as heck, and Ruri because she sang that lovely song during the song contest in one episode. Also, Fiona from a little known anime called Zoids. She had funky hair (look it up on Google to see what I mean) and I liked her story. Plus, it's one of the few animes i've seen where the hero does not get the girl! | |
|
| Anime Fans Posted: 2/18/2006 12:07:51 PM | I fell in love with Ryoko from Tenchi for many reasons. I also liked Sailor Neptune, from Super Sailor Moon.
I love Cowboy Bebop. And to me the best episodes are the ones about Spike's history.
I have seen tons of anime since I have loved this type of animation since I was 5 (speed racer, battle of the planets, Mazinger and all the other Shogun warriors).
The series I like are the ones were characters carry a secret sadness, such as Karekano. I like stories of war and what are we fighting for (Gundam, Saint Seiya).
Dragonball was great because you get to grow with the characters. I hope to see Dragonquest someday since I only saw a couple of episodes.
Magical Knights Rayearth is pretty good. Specially when they have all 3 robots.
|
| Anime Fans Posted: 2/25/2006 6:26:39 PM | Irresponsible Captain Taylor was pretty good. If you haven't seen the Kenshin Ova where it gives his story before the TV series you have no idea what you are missing. I was a little disapointed with the last movie that shows what happens after the TV series just because of the flashbacks and the animation. | |

| Anime Fans Posted: 2/27/2006 10:19:25 AM | | I love gravitation. You guys have to be open minded in order to give it a try without major disappointments. | |
|
| Anime Fans Posted: 2/27/2006 3:46:25 PM | | There is a song in Gravitation that I like but I haven't seen the anime. I know it is about boy love. | |
|
| Anime Fans Posted: 3/4/2006 12:06:23 AM | never heard of gravitation. U cant have to be more open minded than when watching lain or technolize.. tech was super boring i couldnt get past ep 3 without vowing to never watch anymore. Lain...
but the music from lain was on point. I think it was Boa.

| Anime Posted: 4/8/2006 4:28:03 PM | | I have to say its a tie for me for my fav anime. Its a toss up between Monster, and Berzerk.(although the berzerk Manga is better) I also enjoy Tsukuyomi Moon Phase (about a little vampire girl). But I highly recommend Monster to people regardless of if they like animated shows or not. Absolutely fantastic story. Just finished watching the final episode the other day. Havent gotten any of the manga's though, dont know if they are translated into english anywhere yet. But the series is not dubbed, you have to find it subbed. I dont like dubbed anime anyway, americans usually tend to ruin the story and I hate most of the american voice actors. My favorite anime character is Guts or Gattsu or whatever you want to spell his name like from berzerk. Seems its spelled many different ways :P | |

| Anime Fans Posted: 4/11/2006 7:42:33 PM | D*mn...so many good ones
1)-Ghost in the Shell- (Movie not Stand Alone Project OAV's, although they are good too) would probably be my favorite if I had to name one.
2)Berserk..was an awsome series.
3)Neon Genesis Evangellion was a great OAV series....the few episodes that contained the deep psychological undertones were very cool.
4)DevilMan was great, but definately to short.
5)Akira although being the second part of a series of six was a monumental film....I knew I wanted a motorcycle after watching it.
6)El-Hazard -The Magnificant World (only cared to watch the first series as I know a remake could never do it justice.)
7)Tenchi Muyo....what guy couldn't find this humorous....7 girls constantly fighting for the attention of a young man with the persona of Peter Parker.....Ryoko had him tied up in almost every other episode...to funny
8)Ninja Scroll
9) Gogo 13
10) Angel Cop collection
To many to list..................
