| Randy Moss traded to the Patriots Posted: 6/17/2007 6:07:05 PM | | The Pats are the class of the AFC. I really feel the moves they made will put them over the top. Some Coaches have that ability to work with troubled players and get teh most out of them. Moss likely wants a ring and a new contract and realized he has to play for it. I also agree Thomas was a HUGE addition for the Pats and Merriweather will also do well. Colts lost too many good players and I really do not like Manning. | |

I guess using this logic...that makes troy brown a better reciever than marvin harrision?
oh yea...trent dilfer, mark rypien, and doug williams all better qbs than dan marino...holy crap...what was i thinking...
dan marino has no rings...last i checked....he is in...so yes you do get in on stats....

| Randy Moss traded to the Patriots Posted: 6/20/2007 11:32:29 AM | More irrational Patriots fans........just what we need...........NOT!
Nothing like stepping up in June and not only saying the Pats win the next SB........this one predicts two straight. They never learn do they, eman?
Anything can happen boys. Rarely does the pre-season "hot" pick win the SB.
Preseason SB picks from major sports publications:
Athlon: Indianapolis defeats Carolina. Lindy's: Carolina defeats Denver. ProFootball Weekly: Carolina defeats Indianapolis. Sporting News: Pittsburgh defeats Carolina. Street & Smith's: Carolina defeats Denver.
Of the ten picks...........one got the winner right........one had the Colts losing. All the rest........WRONG! Not only that but Pittsburgh and Carolina didn't even make the playoffs.
This year? We'll see...............just don't start making plans to go to Arizona yet deejay.

Unless he changes his attitude a bit and remembers that he actually does still like to play football, the only thing he'll be thrown is a pink slip. I figger he'll last till about mid-September.

It's a long off season... whatever you or I say really doesn't mean anything.
Everyone has their own opinions.
I'm not really crowning their "ass"... but they do have a decent shot anyway.

| Randy Moss traded to the Patriots Posted: 6/20/2007 10:17:22 PM | Randy Moss may or may not work out for the Pats. I really don't know. Either way they've improved at receiver. Stallworth and Gaffney will excell at NE, and NE will get more than anyone expected out of them, whether Moss starts or not. Jackson will improve greatly--and Caldwell, although most people don't know about him, is a burner. Guess what most of these receivers have in common? They're deep threats. Brady has not had WRs who are deep threats while he's been QB; Givens? Brown? Branch? They might have caught a long pass when coverage was blown, but you can't call them legitimate deep threats. I don't even like New England. They annoy the crap out of me--because they WIN a lot and beat teams I like. But this team scares the crap out of me because I want my Bengals to go to the Super Bowl sometime soon. NE's team might not make this possible. Forget about Moss if he doesn't work out. I bet Belichik isn't all that worried; otherwise, he would've offered more for Moss for the trade. Moss is just news--a soundbyte, a video clip. He could be a lot more, but I wouldn't bank on it.
Edit:
Pittsburgh defeats Carolina.
A team has to go from the NFC. Why not the Panthers? When they click, they really click. But Pitt ain't going. Nope. They're aging and they have a new head coach. He might end up being a great coach (Pitt has that history), but it won't be during his first year. The writers for that magazine enjoy absurdity.

| Randy Moss traded to the Patriots Posted: 6/21/2007 1:45:24 AM | I agree with SummerTeeth. The Pats have improved with their receivers on every aspect. I'm a Pats fan and I believe we are going to be a tough team to beat. You have to look at what we did last year with the receivers we had and made it to AFC championship. Now it is a total upgrade compared to last year.
If the Pats don't make it and Cincy is there......I'll be cheering for the Bengals, they deserve one.

Read a little more closely sport. Those were picks by sportswriters prior to last season. I was pointing out to all those who are predicting another NE super Bowl win that preseason predictions are rarely correct. The Panthers were the hot SB pick last year and the Steelers were defending champs and both sucked.

| Randy Moss traded to the Patriots Posted: 6/21/2007 8:14:38 AM | You can't honestly compare the greatness of Brady to Manning. Brady has the winning touch and the special magic thing about him, the get it done attitude. Manning is methodical, smart, the work horse and he wins. However, they also have their bad aspects as well. They both will go into the Hall of Fame.
Moss has been great in the past and could be great again. It really comes down to if he wants it bad enough and his work ethic. If he is going to have success anywhere then New Engalnd is probably the best fit with the veterans, the coaching and the attitude. However, ultimately it's up to Moss.
It's a long football season and you just never know who is going to step up and who is going to get hurt. I would imagine we will see both New England and Indy in the playoffs and I would truly love to see Dallas with a losing record (probably won't happen). Injuries are normally a key ingredient to success.
Damn now I sound like John Madden

| Randy Moss traded to the Patriots Posted: 6/21/2007 10:36:16 AM | Bruschi came into the league the same year as Zach Thomas.
Thomas-career tackles 986...assists 591...7 Pro Bowls
Bruschi-career tackles 595...assists 332...1 Pro Bowl
I guess when he had a stroke and came back to play again, people forgot he was pretty ordinary as a linebacker.

Well, I didn't say this... I guess it was too spicy for the mods.
Bruschi is one of the most important players in the Pats organization. Him and Harrison on defense are the on field coaches. I will agree that Bruschi is aging, but he his tough as nails. He (and Harrison) would be a great coach someday... if he wanted to be.

It IS a concern. No doubt about that. I assume that the linebackers were just totally gassed, and they did have injuries back there (not an excuse, just the truth).
Adalius SHOULD help out back there in my opinion. He even played cornerback for the Ravens in certain situations (rare).
He is one of the most underrated players in the league (Ray Lewis being the polar opposite).

Zach Thomas is one of the Dolphins alltime best players. Don't look for an arguement here. I wish him and Jason Taylor were on the Pats...
Bruschi is awesome (he is totally overlooked, and the probowl is just a popularity contest)... if you disagree, then I highly doubt your football smarts.

I honestly don't know where to start on this one... I want to see you play NFL football after coming back from a stroke. I HAVE to see this one...

Seau went to the Pro Bowl what?....twelve times? Think that was just because he's popular. This isn't baseball where some well known player gets voted in even though he's hitting .243, the NFL is different. If you're there, you earned it. Bruschi's leadership skills far outdistance his playing ability.....they always have. It's why Belichik likes him and why he's still around. I'll buy what you say about Teddy being a coach on the field...........that thug Harrison?.....different story. Great player no doubt.......i'm just not a big fan of dirty players no matter how good they are.

I AM partial to my fav. team... I make no bones about it. It doesn't mean that I have to love Reche Caldwell or Kevin Faulk though (I hate to see them on the field).
Seau was overrated... in my opinion. Not anymore (he is smart, but he is well past his prime).
Harrison does push the limits. If he was on an opposing team, yeah... I'd prolly dislike him as well. But he is good for the Pats.
I never really liked Moss, so... I can only hope that he puts away his questionable past behind him. If not, oh well... see ya later.
