Mandrake's House
Posted: 5/11/2008 10:32:58 PM
One of your very best, Mandrake.
Here's one for the memories.

We all go back to a time
Freshly scrubbed faces full of peace and wonder
Shopping at the Free Store, dancing in the park
The Beats, educated and creative
Spoke out
Leading the way for
The Flower Children, searching for meaning
To drop-out
In the days leading to the Summer of Love
1967
The counter-culture revolution
Became mainstream news
Music, sex, psychedelics, politics
Their creative expression
Painted and embroidered into everything
Their messages, anti-materialism, anti-consumerism
Anti-establishment-ism
Lost on a world who would only come
To understand them in retrospect
I was almost 10
Father was beyond livid
When I told him I wanted to go
We all go back to a time
Can you dig it?

Hippy Dippy-ville...USA

I remember all them
strung out hippies
in the early sixties
couldn't remember
their own name.

Their lips kept
professing "Free Love"
I think that was the
name of the game

Hey there, eyeguy! Interesting take.

‘Free Love’ .. That was part of it.
Too bad the messages of
‘Let there be Love’ and ‘Give Peace a Chance’
Demonstrated peacefully
Was lost in sensationalistic-exploitive media coverage
They had something to say
They found a way to create their own brand
Of Utopia .. while making sincere effort to say it
When their message went mainstream
It spoke to freshly-scrubbed faces everywhere
But those over 30 were tone-deaf
To the concept of a world without greed and war
The Beats didn’t understand them
They in turn couldn’t embrace the me-attitudes
Of the polyester-clad clubbers
And today, I simply do not get the message
If there is a message
Of the Emo’s
Free Love was a part of it
But it wasn’t the point

I’m going to do it
I’m going to take a veil out tomorrow,
The Day-Glo Pink silk one,
And dance in the park

”You’d think it was the fourth of July
People talking, really smiling
A man, playing guitar
Singing for us all
Will you help him change the world
Can you dig it (yes, I can!)
And I’ve been waiting such a long time”

Sunshine breezes and groovy, idealistic longings
I’m going to dance all my heart’s desires
Peace and Community and Love
Especially Love
That’s where it’s at

“A real celebration
Waiting for us all
If we want it, really want it
Can you dig it (yes, I can)
And I’ve been waiting such a long time . . . . .”

Along the day I started humming the
"Y M C A"
gesturing the hands even.....lol
looks from left to right
Yup, they thought I was losing my mind!!
Then as I walked out the store
I heard them humming and singing the words!!!
A celebration touching my heart
knowing one little hum was the start
of spreading the LOVE!!!!.......

The earth is full
of paper wealth,
and blood mansions,
built by death.

Pillaged lands,
raping dreams,
the neverending story,

and the horror

continues!
 a rose is a rose...

(manny...your words ring soo true...makes me sooo sad...)

i weep
at the death
and destruction
caused by
greed

it is not suppose
to be this way
i know

life
is suppose
to be
beautiful
for all

but the devil
walks among us
destroying
all that is beautiful
for greed

How many times has God wept
for his own creation?
How many ways has God loved ...you?
through your own damnation??

How many times has God forgiven you
for the sins you display?
How many times has God carried you
each and every day?

How many signs has God sent
as a warning to His people?

and yet

you still don't hear!

you still don't see!

Hey drake....

Can't help myself.....what can I say?.

Godless.

...and so god gave unto his children damnation
suffered upon them nought but starvation
that children would fall
that fire would engulf their lands
that flood would reap upon them misery

but still, they could not see.

...and so god gave unto them a raging heat
born from the air
from the center of their souls
winds descended from the heights
taking their spirits

but still, they could not see.

...and so he left them
to their greed and warmongering
to their lust of the unattainable
to bathe by the blood of their brethren
to be forgotten...

for what they could not see....

...is god was aways there
it was them, all of them
that suffered upon themselves these tortures
but as man, it was always better
to blame someone else.

After all we'd been through,
I thought you knew me,
I thought you saw the love
deep within my eyes,

but you never looked
long enough,
to see my heart!

What we shared was deep,
it was ours to keep,
forever!

Or so I thought,

my name wasn't dear John!

and I thought you knew me!

In the eye of yellow brilliance,
a flicker from the stall,
carries an image of bygone days,
dancing on the wall.

Shadows swirl in sparks adrift,
escaping from the blaze,
ebony and ivory,
visions through the haze.

Can you dance
the dance of love?
move in wild abandon,
your heart turned inside out,
your feet stepping
to the blood drops
on the floor,
like a tango of rage,
a dance of sabres,
the blood lust
of screams in
an erotic dance
of love.

^^ lovely imagery
looking forward to staring into some flames myself soon :)

love
if it is not all consuming
lost in the moment
of the ecstatic dance
unorchestrated
and simply 'raw'

is 'not love'

cheers manny

Dance with me
bonito senorita,
samba para ti
shimmer!

full skirts
twirl and spin,
full view
of olive skin.

eyes locked
passions soar,
embraced,
wanting more.

Bodies drenched.
flaming feet,
hands caress
the latin beat!

mesmerised I stare wide eyed
into the embers lying there
stationary orbs yet
life flickers within

no flame to be seen
but swirling inside the remnants
of where a mighty fire had burned

dwelled life

images twisting and turning
like a foetus
inside a mother womb

settling then turning once again
reaching out
but unable to breach the walls

bright orbs of 'almost was'
or 'praps will be'

leaning down to feel the glow
I gently blow
(sweet breath of life)

and watch it leap beyond
those bitter bounds..

[stuff]
going to make a cuppa T and join the world

You have to know how much I love your dance theme!

Chili-pepper colored sunset hues
Washing early evening in it’s amber glow
Changeable and dazzling
Playing it’s light twinkles upon the water
Strong arms
Holding close
Soft-as-possible cuddle of warmth
Can almost hear the repetitive motion of waves
Almost feel the still sun-warmed sand under foot
And there – did a lazy loon just call?
The jungle settling down, preparing for night’s slumber
Can anything be sweeter than a stolen interlude
One fine day
We never got to play

Lake shore rugged
lined with limestone
a little further, softer ground
to kneel, listening to the calm
burn'n a fire for us kids
roast'n marsh, mellows the soul!!.....

^^ clever hammy!
"marsh mellows the soul"
yep...something about a fire

And manny I loved this one (been having a read back)

There, in the long hall,
where souless meet,
where vanity shines,
the lineup is neverending,
waiting to display their image,
while praying godlessly
to the mirror,

which

in turn

reflects

their God.

Great to see some real stuff stuff back in the pond instead of the vague putty colored trash of orchestrated platitudes. cheers guys. J

A chasm of rocks
Sunlight dances in cascades
Of iridescence
The next teardrop that falls
Shimmering reflection
