Sane!...to be of sound mind,
my cocoon died long ago,
a dried up pod of gossamer waste,
taking up space among the ruins,
keeper of the chalice
light my way!

and for those
who would judge my sanity,
let them question their own
before casting a stone,
oh keeper of the chalice
guide my way!

speak with your heart,
Breathe with the soul,
and never depart
from who you are.

The tree of knowledge,
The well of wisdom,
Swell to the bosom,
overflowing,
yet lonely,
it's fruit untasted,
Awaiting it's collectors,
The malnourished
of the false prophets,
The self proclaimers
of righteousness

I confess openly, Mandrake, I am moved by your spirit. In innocence, we share a mutual spirit-love. I’m sure we shall meet time and again. And I too have enjoyed our sharing of this most marvelous space. In peace, my friend, Naïve.

Something a bit different...a bit of the old blues I use to play a long time ago. This was originally a song I wrote way back in the day.

Sittin in the doorway,
playin those guitar heartache blues,
the strings were a cryin
all over my shoes.

My fingers were as numb
as my poor broken heart
I 'm still singin your name baby
even though we're apart.

Ya know I'll go on livin baby
cause it wasn't meant to be
Just know I'm movin on now
to where? Have to wait and see.

putting a log on the fire
sending the flames higher
watching them dance in rhythm
as the rain banters its music on the pane
sharing a drink or two
settled in like a worn old shoe
talking views and old time news
sharing a soul slice
piece of blue sky marshmallow pie
till the plate been cleaned
then off to have another dream

very soulful sunoir! sing it sister!

I'm listening to the blues right now! Lovin the moment.

I don't feel the guitar,
I let it feel me,
playin the fireside blues,
my heart striking notes,
bending on a lick,
the flames dancing brightly,
sparking up their tears,
the guitar gently crying,
from the pain of the years,
playing the fireside blues.

Tumultuous brain storms
ravaging the cortex coast,
paralyzing syntax of the mind,
disruptors of the breakwaters
fighting back, holding fast,
protecting the creative
palate, meadows of the cerebral
forest dance against the tide,
quieting the storm,
subside, subside, subside.

with a sunny disposition
you show me a killer tune
and I'll show you
a
toe- tappin'
face slappin
cornbread cookin
tough lookin'
southern born girl
who'll paint her own damn world
but the colors all turn to white
without a song in sight
so.....please....tell it like it is
play me a song aboutcha' biz
to get lost in
and I'll start dancin' again

(gotta love some blues)

Ahhhh...that there should be
so much disdain in humanity!
that I would burn myself at the stake
to humor them?

Should I open the gates of he*l?
and let them watch the goblins
salivating with decadent smiles,
hanging them in effigy?

Perhaps, in my hours of discontent,
consider for a moment that,
I too, am human, all too human,
and all will be revealed

in the END!

I leapt over solitude,
I slept past the journey,
disappointed and bored
with the destination,
I prest cancel,
and returned from wence I came...
reentering the womb
of conception,
a gift of the fertility gods
and my father greeted me
with a smile!

sometimes I wonder if I could get up early enough, could I wake before the world was created?

-ok granny, let's do your toes
i gently lift her out of bed
into the wheelchair
enveloped
in black vinyl and chrome

i set her deep purple feet on my lap
oh those nails...
cracked and broken ridges
lethal weapons

i get out the tools and clip
she talks again of the children
not hearing her
i look at those toes
the roads they traveled
the rhythms they danced

stopping
at the all too familar
baby toe
with just a hint of nail
could be mine!

filing the edges smooth
i begin to rub her feet with anti-wrinkle creme
-it i doesn't work on me either, granny!
we laugh

as i kneed her sole, she purrs with delight
closing her eyes she smiles...

-well sweetheart, we're done for now...
-next time...pleeeeeeze let me paint them!
'maybe' she whispers
-ok granny, i can live with maybe!

(hey manny...great writes of late...loving your thread...rosie)

Who am I?
and where have I gone?
Have I taken leaves
of my senses, and pasted
them in a collage?
My life is a mural,
an infinite canvas,
knowing where it began,
and where it ends,
the two solitudes
of grace.

the solitutes of grace
before me rise
yen
yang
sympathize
another meeting
in another life
you were loved to distraction
idolized
taking another path
life leading you
inside your heart
learning centering
back to your start

The c*cks crow
on wavers arm,
stalking the weather
vane attempt
to spin in crop circles,
forging the
extraterrestrial
landscape.

greetings Drake. was piddlin in haiku and upsprang the starts of....

"dip me at midnight"
into the Lake of Visions
nocturnal baptism

wbere three birds of old soul
preside o'er the pool of rebirth
the crow who stole fire
the owl who brings long sleep
and the flaming heron who nest is the cycle

upon submersion
accepted admission
granted no ommision

the caw
and the hoot
harmonized by the crackle of flame
bubbled in my ears
babblefish babblefish babblefish clear

even a ravens's blackest of feathers glistens in the moonlight

thanx you two, thanx alot.
actually that wasnt a stream of consciousness Drake, those are usually disjunctured and reak of utter chaos this was a sparked off piece with intent and formulation. Stream of consciousness is just a freeflow of whatever images or thoughts flow thru the mind and jotted down insequence for later reflection or dissection to snippet out an inspiring line that might give manifestation to a "poem" (or prose if thats your kick). Just so happened it was the haiku thread that springboarded this last one. anyhoo, glad yall enjoyed and hope this is a literary fruitful day for all. Keep em comin Drake, i really enjoy this thread and the source of inspiration it serves for those who read it.
